Just finished installing two improvements to my Judge Dredd.
The first was a new Cursed Earth plastic protector from pinbits. This one took a few days of brainstorming and prototyping to come up with a solution (due to very short threads atop the two double bumper posts on either side of the subway entrance). I plan to re-group with Martin on some of the larger plastics that also could benefit from protectors. Hopefully soon they'll offer a more complete protector set for JD than just the slings they currently have on their site.
While I had the deadworld taken apart, I took a shot at giving it better lighting. I had a couple Cointaker UltraBright Red LEDs in there, and they were too spot-focused. Pretty much the problem with any LED -- no flood/diffusion.
I ordered a couple specialty 2-wire Optix LEDs from Cometpinball.com
2x RED #555 base: http://www.cometpinball.com/product-p/2-flux-wired.htm
and a 9-SMD LED blue flasher" http://www.cometpinball.com/product-p/9smdtowerflash.htm
It didn't matter whether there were two LEDs in the deadworld globe or the four created by the Competpinball 2-wire solution -- that just produced four spots of light. The light from the LEDs still needed to be diffused.
I ended up experimenting with the same solution I ultimately used on all my pop bumper caps -- a polishing fish tank filter cut to fit. https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/using-leds-in-pop-bumpers
In this case, I just took a pair of scissors to it. Worked perfectly, and since there's no permanent modifications, it can be removed in 30 seconds to go back to stock or to test a different solution.

The picture does not do it justice, so try it for yourself.
