I have a Judge Dredd (Bally from 1993) pinball machine. It used to work fine, but the drop targets got stuck (just popped up and down at times).
I cut one of the cables to the drop targets and everything worked fine (except the drop targets would not go up and down obviously) for many weeks.

The only thing I noticed after cutting that wire, was that the left launcher would not launch the ball when it ended up in the lane on the left (the count down thing). But it would launch automatically when the countdown ended - and the top flippers would go off).

Then suddenly the balls will not be prepared (put in the launcher lane) when I start a new game. The start button worked fine, but there will be no ball coming up from below.

I tried to manually put a ball in the lane, but the right launcher will not launch the ball.

I tested the switches, and both left and right launcher seems to work.

I have uploaded a video to show the problem here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/edcttc381rH2LsGC7

I have even re-solded (connected) the wire for the drop targets that I initially cut off.

Help please? I am no expert at mechanics, but I am a computer guy, so I understand that this can be fixed

Kind regards,
Thomas Mathiesen

You cut a common wire to all the coils not working. You blew a fuse on the driver board to all the coils not working.

Trying to watch your vid but it won’t play

So you can start a game and a ball will go in the shooter lane but pressing the launch button is not launching ball?

If you haven't already, you need to test the right launcher solenoid (coil) and the right launch button switch. Based on the OP it sounds like you only tested the shooter lane switch which probably will not have much impact on game function. You will probably have to close the coin door once you start the right launch coil test to get the coil to fire since the higher voltage power supplies are disabled when the door is open.

I uploaded to youtube as well:

You can open the coin door and yes it will disable the hi power but there is a small white knob on the left hand side.Pull that knob to the right and hi power will be on so you can then use the test menus

I can start a game, but the ball will go into the shooter lane.

I will test the right launcher solenoid (coil) and the right launch button switch. I'll get back to you with my findings.

Thanks alot for all of your comments people I really appreciate it!

Ok now I see it could be the a wire came loose on that shooter lane coil or the ball through opto board is not registering properly.test the launch switch while your in switch test and see if it registers on the screen
But let’s do the easy thing first put the game in test menus and see if that all coils fire when activated.Read my post above about the hi power knob

Fuse. Should be simple.

Judge Dredd doesn't have the type switch you can pull out to lock. Hold it in or close coin door. Game shipped with a yellow metal clip to hold it in.
