Super lame? That about sums up the 70 pages of worthless whining in this thread from people who have no skin in the game. Has anyone who has complained about JPop in this thread done more for pinball than he has? If not I urge you to go out and do better. Armchair quarterbacks are a dime a dozen.
Yes, the project is taking longer than anticipated but so what. Truly great things are worth the wait. This is just Big Bang Bar part 2, no risk, no reward. I'm anxious to see Magic Girl get finished but at this point it doesn't really matter if it takes another six weeks or six months. I say it will be worth the wait.

Quoted from QuickSilverShelby:

I'm wondering what your opinion is on the legalization of pot?
I guess, since you're not a resident of Colorado or Washington, we probably don't even need your perspective. I suppose if you do happened to exercise your right to an opinion on the legalization of pot, be it for or against, we should consider it "worthless whining" because you don't have any "skin in the game" due to the fact that you don't even live in Colorado or Washington.
You probably shouldn't even reply to my "request for you opinion on the legalization of pot" inquiry. Based on your logic, I should consider your standpoint the view of an "armchair quarterback" who's perspective is simply "a dime a dozen" and therefore meaningless/useless.
Do you see the sever shortcomings in your statements?
QSS

I don't smoke pot so there's no need for me comment on the issue. It doesn't affect me either way and I'm not going to try and tell other people what they should or should not do with their lives.

I will clarify my original post and say that the there is nothing wrong with commenting if your not a JPop buyer. It's just very sad to see the negativity that has been posted towards JPop here lately. John is a pioneer and a visionary in the pinball world. I for one greatly appreciate his efforts. Yes, he's having a tough time but that's when people should rally with support and offer him help rather than start a bash fest. The armchair quarterbacks who are bashing John have no clue of what it takes to start and run a business so I'll say it again: If you can do better then go out and show us how it's done.

Quoted from rotordave:

I don't think that looks right ... Maybe he just staged the photo as a tribute to "tiger saw"
You can see the cut out in the timber is for 3 stand up targets, not a Newton ball. A Newton ball will move if it's mounted like that.
rd

Not if it's an adjustable newton ball !!!!! Hmm, that would be an industry first. You can adjust outlane posts on any other game but there has never been an adjustable newton before.

Quoted from Aurich:

No. Someone started a Facebook group and they're talking there. Whatever, fine. If you're going to talk off in private then just do it, don't talk about it here.
Jpop said he's opening the blog, according to ice, so I don't see what it has to do with anything.

It would be nice if it was that simple. If any buyers talk here they get flamed. Pinside is hardly a friendly place anymore.

Quoted from frolic:

To paraphrase Jersey Jack:
John should make Magic Girl his "worst" game (from the new company).
Draw a line in the sand and get it out, and the next games can be better and better.

If Jersey Jack knew what he was doing he would have hired JPop when he was available but that probably wouldn't have worked out because Jack is willing to release unfinished product and John is not.

Quoted from jgentry:

This statement is rediculous. Let's take a company that is manufacturing and selling pinball machines and bash them but praise the guy that can't get one game made. Makes perfect sense

Can you imagine what WOZ would have looked like if JPop had designed it?

#4653 9 years ago
Quoted from frolic:

Jpop was able to get games down and out the door at WMS. That is the difference between then and now. He had a task master lording over him there, and hard deadlines, where as now he is accountable to no one, including his "investors" (customers).
Ice is on him, but we won't know really if anything is changing until there is something really substantive.
I'm still feeling sore that we were promised "reveals", left believing this for months, and this week I find out he's got no real functional hardware system or programming, and we're hoping the Mission and Fast guys can take it over?

Everything you say is correct. I still believe it will get finished and that it will be worth the wait.

Quoted from Aurich:

And now, what? We're back to paper and foamcore ramps? Black and white art glued down to a white wood? Has progress backslid that badly that the supposedly finished cabinets are no longer viable, or is he just posting random, horribly out of date MG photos?

No, this is a testing whitewood with working flippers. There is no need to use a printed playfield for testing. John posted a video of it yesterday. It actually was impressive. There's great music and sound, some very cool animations, and the inserts have nice colors and are working during gameplay. After seeing this the project does not appear to be dead at all. I don't understand how people can say no programming has been done when I'm seeing sound, music, speech, animations, and controlled lighting.

Quoted from iceman44:

FYI, to Kim, the nazi message board operator, no need to send PM's around to everybody re the Jack/JJP issue of making the pins for John, like talking to Gomez about the same thing.
That came out of John's mouth to me, no big deal and not some CIA secret.
Good lord, take your private FB site and shove it.

WOW, you have sunk to an all time low. Calling Kim a Nazi just because he tried to help makes you an *not nice guy* bigger than any I have EVER seen on Pinside. I suggest you publicly apologize for that and then go *play with* yourself.

Quoted from PEN:

Dude, PM if you must.

Nope, a line was crossed. It's only pinball. Moderators should ban Iceman from Pinside for that comment. I lost way too much family in WW2 for me to have to deal with that *dog poo* here.

Quoted from TomGWI:

Stern just released an original theme = Big Juicy Melons.
Spooky = America's Most Haunted
Both Kiss and Metallica have hand drawn art.
Sad fact = licensed themes sell better than non licensed themes.

I don't know, maybe Retro Atomic ZombieYetiland would do OK.

Huh.
Apparently, 'Justin Kelly' and Michael Engel' have to give their depositions at the same time.

Where do you see that?
