Quoted from lllvjr:

Gene had much deeper pockets then jpop does. Big diff

Do you have access to JPop's bank accounts or tax return statements? How do you know his finances?

Quoted from lllvjr:

Hope when December comes its a close to completed code and not just a flipping game. If not u guys will be waiting another year.

Soooo.... It's like the code on any new Stern game? Wait a year+ for it to be fleshed out?

If Zidware was a public company, I'd be shorting the stock right now.

Why don't you just stick with shorting radio shack stock instead. That's guaranteed (to go down)

Quoted from TecumsehPlissken:

we need a frivolous & careless investor with deep well pockets

Or just someone with a bank roll, who loves pinball, & doesn't want to see all the pre-order people get screwed because JPop is a great designer, but shitty business man. If only there was someone like that... Or is there already?

Diggin' that Pic! AceJedi & PDXMonkey!

And in all seriousness guys, Monkey (and many others) worked their friggin ass off on getting MG playabale (Flew in Sunday) & then driving 30+ hours on literally ~3 hours of sleep over multiple days. So please, cut him a little slack. It's getting nasty in this thread & I get that people are upset with JPop (as am I) but don't take it out on the people who are trying to help and at least give you a glimpse of something we've all been waiting YEARS for...

I think all the prototypes and/or artwork e.t.c. should be auctioned off to some of the high end collectors who collect weird and/or very rare stuff (most of you know some of the people I'm referring too) and all owners who got shafted could split it. Then again, just seems like more of a pipe dream...

Screw it!

I'm just gonna get in the custom T-Shirt business. Simply send a check for $50 along with the total amount you gave John and I'll whip out one of these shirts for you.

Pre-order now! Only 16 will be made! (or maybe 20, or maybe 50, or maybe I'll even announce a few more shirt designs all together!)

Quoted from BMore-Pinball:

Only? Seems like a lot of cash to me...

Yup and the 14k I lost is a SHIT TON of money to me as well but when there is almost literally nothing you can do to re-coupe your money then....

You have to laugh or cry about it. I choose to do a little of both but online we'll definitely stick to laughing.

Still got that hat for sale guys

In fact, it gives me even more motivation to kick-ass at life and try to generate more cash-flow into my finances. Besides, Karma is a bitch and JPop has a lot of that headed his way....

Quoted from jeffspinballpalace:

I really can't see these things selling for more than a Stern, in a few years....

I see your point but I totally disagree.
Just based on pure rarity alone there will always be a higher dollar value put on these.
King Kong isn't an amazing game but still demands a $20k+ price tag because there are so few of them.
Kingpin is a decent playing game with less than 10 made and most often change hands for over $50k+.

This game, having an initial value of $16k will easily start selling for a lot more. Hell, there is even a fairly recent sale to a well known "eccentric podcaster" who bought one second hand for $24k and that was WITH the possible risk of the games not even getting produced!

This game will always be wanted by the hardcore rarity collector because of it's rich (for lack of a better word) history/story and the fact there is only 20 of them (plus a few proto's). If you ever get your hands on one and sell it, I think it's safe to assume you'll NEVER see it again. I doubt anyone who buys it will ever sell it for less (if they did sell it, which most likely they would not).

All I'm saying is, these games will be very sought after (similar to KP, & KK, e.t.c.) and that will directly effect the price, regardless of gameplay, code, or any other possible issues. People will be looking for a collector piece, not necessarily a game they want to play everyday.

#20779 7 years ago
Quoted from Russell:

In the videos, why does nobody ever hit the ramp? Is it even a makeable shot?
I think this will turn out to be a very valuable game. No collection of super rare games would be complete without it.
I predict that the one-who-shall-not-be-named sells it within 6 months for a tidy profit.

If it's the video from the Northwest show then ya, that was more of a proof of concept than prototype. It was barely playable at best. That was a last minute effort when Pdxmonkey flew out to Chicago to help John last minute (on his own dime mind you) and drove that thing all the way across the U.S. to the show. At the time, JPop had led him & Pintasia, to believe it was MUCH MORE complete than it actually was.

From what I hear the currently produced game has been re-worked to make it play like it should e.t.c.

As owners pick up their games over the next week or two I'm sure we'll see plenty of pics & video.

#20781 7 years ago
Quoted from cliff_clavin:

Given all that has transpired, I am amazed people believe that the game has actually been made. The only evidence is two emails that have somewhat contradictory info. Where are the pics? Video? I will believe it only when owners have it in their hands.

I know of several people that will literally be on the road picking up their games over the next few days...

It's been 6 years of HELL (that I've got to experience first hand )

Be patient for just a few more days

#20847 7 years ago
Quoted from spfxted:

I would have hoped they did as it wasn't a "free" project. Jpoop was collecting big money and could certainly pay these people.
Let's ask.....did any of you guys have a signed contract?

From what I heard soooo many people offered to help JPop and it was always the same story...

"My way or the highway..."
"You can work for me for free as an apprentice and PINBALL is the reward..."

JPop was NOT an easy guy to work with, hence the fact that he burned through countless vendors who just gave up on him (and they had every right too)

Well this certainly took some backdoor ninja skills since the video container was broken and wouldn't play the video correctly but it looks like I was able to repair it and get this footage....

Ladies and gentlemen I present to you the best video we have of MG at this point. Enjoy

#21084 7 years ago
Quoted from chadderack:

Backdoor ninja skills = F12 in Chrome

Haha it was slightly more complicated than that. It would only play 1:04 of the video (the second half). Had to convert the video to several file formats etc. Even after uploading to YouTube it still would only play the first half.
Long story short, enjoy.

#21100 7 years ago
Quoted from robertmee:

Um.....thanks for the video, but hopefully that's not expected to elicit sighs of relief. I saw two shots....spinner and trap door. How does one get to the ramps?

LOL, it wasn't expected to be spectacular or anything but it's all we have at this point and I figured some video was better than none

Quoted from pinlink:

The owners aren't going to be eager to share how shittily the game is made/designed. That could bring down the value of the game.
Their silence is deafening

Absolutely incorrect! This is borderline ridiculous...

Less than 10 games have been picked up (with most not even at their final location / home yet).

Chris and Kaneda are the ONLY people who have opened their games.

Kaneda didn't even know how to get it out of stripped down amateur mode therefore made a ton of incorrect assessments. While I appreciate what info he is giving us, I would take most of it with a grain of salt.

Everyone just calm down and stop pouring gasoline over every little tidbit said. I'll report back later when I have more info.

I know of one personally that sold in the last few days for far north of 30k...
I wouldn't be surprised to see this eBay auction go much much higher.

fattrain, you also claimed the original sold to Chris for 24k...
You are being quite transparent here I will say.
Not your typical style.

I'm not typically transparent? Ummmm.... what?

I'm pretty sure I've been nothing but a positive good pinsider here since day 1 but if anyone thinks of less of me I encourage them to speak up.

Quoted from iceman44:

No clue? Really? Make another 30 now then.
People were flipping these for MUCH more months before they were delivered.

They / He definitely won't be making any more and part of the reason they will fetch the money that they do is because of the rarity. If there was 200 of them, nobody would care.

If you would have told me a year or two ago that people would have a magic girl in their house, while other people were fearful of losing all their money on the big lebowski I would have thought you were nuttier than a squirrel turd...

What was the MG sale price?

5 years of headaches and heartbreak.

Oh ya, and some cash.

It's over already?
ebay.com link » Magic Girl Pinball Machine

Just got off the phone with the seller (Rob Berk).

He said he was receiving a lot of interest in the machine from buyers who wanted to a deal privately offline.

He pulled the auction and said feel free to contact him if you're interested.

Maybe I'll toss one up for a fun buy-it-now price and go fishing as well

Quoted from o-din:

Weren't there a couple bids on it before? I see 0 now.

There was 4 bids I believe up to 22k(ish)?
The seller however reserves the right to end the auction prematurely.

I'll just beat everyone to the punch...

It's mine. Let the shit show begin

While I don't expect it to sell for that, I encourage serious buyers to contact to me directly.

You should put down "interesting trades considered" to tickle their buying bone.

I can't even imagine the PM's I would get, ROFL

Quoted from CNKay:

Anyone that ownes one, no matter who, I look at as a loser.

This statement is wayyyy over the line dude.

The simple fact of the matter is MG owners took a risk, a huge risk, and for the better part of 5 years thought they totally lost of all of their money with no game to show for it.

Then finally, at the 11th hour, a glimmer of hope appeared with AP and then something actually materialized!

Is it the amazing next coming of Jesus game we had all hoped for? Absolutely not, but the fact of the matter is it's still SOMETHING.

Now there are less than 25 of those "somethings" in existence.

The situation sucks for everyone (MG owners, RAZA/AIW pre-order people, People who worked on the game, and the hobby in general).

But that DOES NOT make anyone who owns one a "loser" so relax a bit...

Quoted from Pinballs:

Phew what a day. MG arrived late morning, and is now set up and 'working'. I'll continue the pre-flight check tomorrow.
Martin is reviewing MG next Tuesday
For the first time I kept the box a pinball came in. Is this really necessary, or would just the cardboard panel that contains the serial number etc be adequate? It's a lot of cardboard! Also kept the foam/cardboard pieces for now. What is the etiquette for this for rare games? Space is my main challenge and reason for asking...

To take a complete detour from this rest of this thread I would just like to say....

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW GAME!

Side note to the above pics, I don't think they ever actually produced playfields with that coloring?
The above is actually just some printed mylar laid over the whitewood (which is evident when you watch the videos from that Northwest show)

Even the Prototypes, from Chris' photos show the proto playfield as having colored inserts for the MAGIC lettering but still wood coloring around it (as opposed to the purple shown above on the mylar overlay).

Can't blame them.
It is a constant reminder of 5 years of gut wrenching pain.

Speaking from first hand experience...

Quoted from Pimp77:

Sell it for what you got into it dude and move on. It would likely move for the original price. Why prolong the "pain" longer than you need to?

If I add up all the money I have in AIW / RAZA / MG + legal fees + transportation costs then I'm into it for mid to high 20's.

So even if it sold for 30k I'd be making a few dollars when I've had my money tied up for 5+ years. I don't (and shouldn't) feel the least bit bad about making a couple bucks.

Unless you've sold every game you ever bought at a loss then don't act like making a few dollars on money invested over time makes me an asshole.

Anyone got an extra ramp for our buddy? He seems to have played 700+ games and broke his ramp
I would assume that breakage that soon would be under warranty, but......t

We're working on getting spare parts e.t.c.

Currently JPop is in Canada with his mom who has a terminal illness. His mind is clearly not on supporting MG's right now.

I'm definitely NOT making excuses for the guy, especially given his history, but I think all of us can sympathize with what it's like to deal with a parent who is close to passing away.
