My second Facebook account is, Peter Goezinya. - Ladies only please.
Quoted from cheshirefilms:There- we would have all the information, news, tips- but none of the senseless soap opera that seems to follow pinball newgroups and forums.
Quoted from cheshirefilms:People will always argue and troll- but I do believe people are on their best 'internet behavior' on Facebook, generally.
You're kidding yourself if you think that's the case. Pretty much any online medium of communication will have its drama and problems. Despite the fact people can't hide behind pseudonyms, Facebook is not some magic bullet where everyone is happy-go-lucky and automatically nice to each other. I've seen some particularly cringe-worthy stuff go down on facebook because it's unmoderated and because certain personality types will still behave like you might expect no matter what service they are using.
Facebook is full of bullshit, trolls, and idiots. Just go read any political post by a major news source. You'll see idiots on both sides.
There also ARE pinball forums that slant positive and don't have in-fighting. They're just not active. So more or less not worth using, at least not on the sub-hourly basis that Pinside is. There rarely goes an hour here where there's not *something* worth looking at.
Quoted from metallik:Well hell, that's great! The people who want to be on Facebook are there, and the people who prefer Pinside are here!
So why are you still here?
I usually let the drama go in one ear and out the other nowadays.
That said-I just know many who don't- and there have been times in the past where I was affected as well.
Quoted from ForceFlow:You're kidding yourself if you think that's the case. Pretty much any online medium of communication will have its drama and problems. Dark corners on Facebook..hmm.
I suppose I don't find those places.
I know I definitely stay away from the politics as much as I can- as thats a vortex no matter where you are.
Perhaps Pinside could get rid of the pseudonyms- require face pictures- and see if that wouldn't help make the site more human-friendly.
Quoted from Nibbles:Isn't there some consumer protection law, or something along those lines, that can hold John accountable for misrepresenting the product that was delivered? While the game was shipped, it is no where near complete and seems like a bait and switch.
The written warranty excludes that the software is free from defects per unnamed source
Oh you too huh?
Well lets put it this way, I could have just called Special K an asshole. But I figured that would offend too many more on their politically correct crusades. Or maybe asshole is too fitting for some people.
Seriously, any of you that want to get on a soapbox with this offensive stand because I am using the term "special" ought to go get your heads examined.
DE-RAILED THREAD ALERT!
Now back to your regularly scheduled program.... MAGIC GIRL!

Quoted from jrivelli:I apologize to Hilton. Looks like Iceman.
Wtf are you talking about implicating me in?
Quoted from ForceFlow:You're kidding yourself if you think that's the case. Pretty much any online medium of communication will have its drama and problems.
Exactly....I have a friend that's on a Disney Pin Trading site and the drama and trolling that happens there is at times much worse than Pinside.
Quoted from applejuice:I've shown a few times now a couple of things that should be included at a basic level, which appear not to be available. This is just crazy because if the game is locked somehow into a basic flipping about 'novice' mode, i had more code than that completed by my first usa visit in august 2012....
The only way this get sorted is if i get sent a game....
That seems good, the less of your unpaid work that's on there, the better the motivation for others to somehow get you paid in full and finish things off.
I think all the owners should harass John about the code, suggesting you get your machine and $$$, so you can properly update what you have and do refinements / bug fixes.
If that doesn't seem likely, I'd think it'd be warranted to have a kickstarter / gofundme / whatever to cover what you should have got. It looks like the machine's value is at least somewhat appreciated, so maybe owners would be willing to give $ 500 - $ 1000 each to turn that into a real game.
Quoted from Mr68:My second Facebook account is, Peter Goezinya. - Ladies only please.
I thought your other account was Willie Fistergash?
At this point though, Jim would really NEED the game in order to get everything sorted out. You can only do so much in the virtual environment. Best thing would be to continuing leaning on JPOP to make it right.
Quoted from HighVoltage:That seems good, the less of your unpaid work that's on there, the better the motivation for others to somehow get you paid in full and finish things off.

Are you sure it's not Wilma Fingerdo
Quoted from CNKay:Thanks for the review Chris at least you didn't sugar coat it.

Can someone link to this review?
WTF is this crap?!
Did this self-proclaimed "living legend of pinball design" really spend 6 fucking years re-inventing everything under the glass, only to put a goddamn unprotected exposed coil spring end right against the playfield surface?!?!
How freaking amateur is that? Or is this supposed to be an homage to the "B/W planned obsolescence" days? Stern & JJP ought to thank him: ghosting, craters, and magnet burn are the least of your poor build-quality concerns now.
Holy shit. Not quite understanding subtle geometry, unexpected ball hangups, and maybe even unproven materials, are all understandable to a point. But that spring says all I need to know about the lack of planning that went into this.
Built by a Legend of his own lunch time, indeed.

That's really not fair. Do you have any "special" family members? If you did you'd probably suddenly drop the social injustice warrior stance on this.
Quoted from goingincirclez:Did this self-proclaimed "living legend of pinball design" really spend 6 fucking years re-inventing everything under the glass, only to put a goddamn unprotected exposed coil spring end right against the playfield surface?!?!
I saw that pic with the exposed spring too, but I figured I must be not understanding it.
Quoted from PoMC:I saw that pic with the exposed spring too, but I figured I must be not understanding it.
It's pretty hilarious.
I also love how the game has "believe!" written all over it. The machine beggars disbelief, that's for sure!
Extra props for the Fast Eddie cameo pics!
Quoted from pinlink:What am I missing here? It looks like you can't hit the spinner? Is this guard blocking the spinner shot?
No the ball fits under that guard to hit the spinner, if you hit it really hard that is!!!
Quoted from valgalder:Good point. Even though he contradicts himself every 5 minutes, it is nice to see he isn’t sugar coating the flaws. I still don’t see how anyone could possibly would be happy with a half ass machine for that much high coin; yet he still says he doesn’t regret it.
Ever talk to someone that went to l Las Vegas nobody ever seams to lose or admit it anyway.
Ramp makeable but a capture ball not?
Quoted from InfiniteLives:laughing out loud about the shooter lanes lack of a groove. just insane.
Nobody can complain about shooter lane wear.
Quoted from crlush:Nobody can complain about shooter lane wear.
Ingenious!?!?!? Hahahaha
Quoted from crlush:Nobody can complain about shooter lane wear.
That's hysterical
Wow... that game looks stunning! Too bad it's a brick... I'm guessing that someone is going to end up coding this thing to life.
Quoted from 27dnast:Wow... that game looks stunning! Too bad it's a brick... I'm guessing that someone is going to end up coding this thing to life.
Why do you guess that?
The game likely has issues far beyond code. Shit isn't hooked up or is missing. There are exposed springs on the playfield. This game probably needs a year or so of attention in a r/d environment. You aren't going to be able to simply download some code to fix everything. And that's before the playtesting.
2 ball, 1 player game. What a trip.
Thanks he who is not to be named for giving us some first hand info.
I really don't understand this one. Why would anyone set the game to 2 ball and single player? Can you change it?
Quoted from InfiniteLives:2 ball, 1 player game. What a trip.
Thanks he who is not to be named for giving us some first hand info.
Quoted from goingincirclez:WTF is this crap?!
The spring looks to be hovering above the playfield not touching it...but doesn't make much sense, I think enough shots directly at it are going to break the plastic post it is attached to under that cap. I wonder if that is wired in some way. Beautiful looking machine for sure.
Quoted from luvthatapex2:I really don't understand this one. Why would anyone set the game to 2 ball and single player? Can you change it?
Game runs out of memory?
Quoted from luvthatapex2:I really don't understand this one. Why would anyone set the game to 2 ball and single player? Can you change it?
code is locked, not options to change it apparently according to the limited knowledge shared at this point
Quoted from cheshirefilms:Dark corners on Facebook..hmm.

I know I definitely stay away from the politics as much as I can- as thats a vortex no matter where you are.
Perhaps Pinside could get rid of the pseudonyms- require face pictures- and see if that wouldn't help make the site more human-friendly.
Ever try to find some content months later on Facebook?
Most misguided idea ever... recognize why you like about Facebook... aggregation of new content and notification in a single place. It is a horrible platform for anything historical, things needing rentention, searching, moderating, or controlling. Move this horrible idea to its own thread. (Oh wait... can't do that in Facebook either)
Quoted from Mike_J:Were these UL tested? Did they need to be?
No, it's art that just happens to look just like an Underwriters Labratory logo. J/K.
Like the Simpsons episode where they don't have an A/C, so they just drew a themostat meter on the wall.
That would be my first call to the support line.... how the heck can the service menu be locked? You have to at least be able to test the lamps, switches, solenoids, balls per game, etc. Wow, what a disservice to the owners.
Quoted from InfiniteLives:code is locked, not options to change it apparently according to the limited knowledge shared at this
point
Quoted from CrazyLevi:yeah, the day I send anybody unsolicited hate mail, emails, facebook messages, go after them at work, or write crazy blogs about pinside enemies you might have me there.
Holy shit dude, you came after me on Facebook and Soundcloud! You're such a fucking hypocrite it's painful.
Quoted from InfiniteLives:laughing out loud about the shooter lanes lack of a groove. just insane.
Doubt I can find it, but didn't someone mention at some point that the shooter rod didn't line up with the ball with the groove in early prototypes? (because John put the rod 1/2" above playfield, but didn't allow for the ball sinking into the groove). I'm guessing he didn't write notes down to move shooter the rod down 1/4" before they cut 20 more cabinets, and he went "welp, ole John messed up again".
Quoted from CrazyLevi:That's a really good idea, cause nobody ever argues or trolls on Facebook.
Well, of all the pinball groups I belong to, ain't nobody talking the non-stop mess that you spew on a minute by minute basis here on Pinside.
