Quoted from Spelunk71:

I agree, except that he said he would "never" sell it. Never is a long time. Kind of undermines his credibility if he then turns around and sells it. Or I guess he could just call the sale an alternative fact and get away with it.

What credibility? Nothing to lose there.

Is the guy never going to have another pin until he moves? Doubt it..

Quoted from Manimal:

I was merely saying if this goes to court (which I highly doubt) people who have these machines can make the case they finally got what they paid for, and they own them fair and square

But that isn't the standard the judge would use. The standard is if you got more than you would otherwise in the bankruptcy. That's why businesses stay away from dealing with financially unstable entities... because even at no fault of your own, stuff can be sucked back.

It's over already?
ebay.com link » Magic Girl Pinball Machine

Just got off the phone with the seller (Rob Berk).

He said he was receiving a lot of interest in the machine from buyers who wanted to a deal privately offline.

He pulled the auction and said feel free to contact him if you're interested.

Maybe I'll toss one up for a fun buy-it-now price and go fishing as well

#22754 7 years ago

Weren't there a couple bids on it before? I see 0 now.

There was 4 bids I believe up to 22k(ish)?
The seller however reserves the right to end the auction prematurely.

I had the high bid on ebay...the owner had an offer on the table for 30K though. No way is that game worth that...

My guess for it ending with a starting value of 20, would have been 25 to 30.
Easy for me to say now.... Anyway, thanks

It's a shame that such a good designer (I think we would all agree that JPOP is an extremely talented designer), will probably never design another game that will actually be finished and delivered.

He will spend years now talking about how he is working on getting RAZA and AIW out the door. If he had let people help him along the way, who knows, maybe this would've all worked out and he could be doing what he does best..designing!

It's clear that he can't build and deliver a completed game by himself. Just wish that he could focus on design and let the experts finish out his ideas and deliver games in the future.

This whole thing has tarnished his reputation though, and now he will focus on correcting that (by "working on RAZA and AIW"), instead of designing awesome games that could actually be built.

What a waste of talent.

That's great in principle but how would it ever happen?

Stern obviously had no interest in him, and for good reason. They didn't survive by hiring unmanageable lunatics who don't understand the concept of BOM or deadlines. Enough former Williams guys were there to keep that from happening I'm sure.

You are never allowed to sell the game.....you can pick MG or Alien.....which do you choose?

Easy choice is Alien, could probably get some actual support on it if need be.

Except those are not your pictures in the auction......

I would throw easy money at Fattrain any day. Great guy.

#22774 7 years ago

If Jpop makes a few RAZAs and the buyers whore out like fattrain, Jpop's problems will be over

#22776 7 years ago

I'd be surprised, but a few emails to some rich dudes may achieve this sale, if fattrain is connected (isn't he rich?). It shows that Jpop can inject value into pinball machines. IMO he should make a few RAZAs, and repeat this DEMONSTRABLE magic of added value. This could resolve the RAZA/AIW issue, and isn't that in all of our interests?

I don't think Jpop's story is over, and that's sort of awesome. Personally I think receiving a pinball in the post is better than a cheque/check.

Caveat: I've been listening to heavy metal and rock in the jacuzzi all night, so I'm probably unbalanced

Didn't you owners have to sign an agreement with JPOP that you couldn't sell MG without giving him first option to buy it back? Oh sorry, wrong company.

Is fattrain the K meister?

#22780 7 years ago

Look at the label on box: "MG # Special JK"

Does anyone know what this means?

Jpop's NDAs don't mean shit at this juncture, and TBH were never terribly well written.

Exactly. Special K?

#22783 7 years ago

And now it's not documented on the internet what it sold for.

...and the seller didn't have to pay eBay fees.

#22784 7 years ago

10% fee? Fracking rip-off.

#22785 7 years ago

Just a thought. If there are an unknown number of 'special' versions, then there is no way of knowing how many there are.

You should put down "interesting trades considered" to tickle their buying bone.

I think you had to give up breeding rights, or give Jplop pick of the litter.

How many of these turds did they make? 16?

It means 100% confirmed that more than the original 19 are made. It also means good luck to anyone that thinks more are not coming.

#22795 7 years ago

I have a feeling the tinkerers and challenge lovers will more enjoy trying to turn these incomplete j-builds into the working machines they were promised than if they had been delivered fully functional pins out of the box

#22796 7 years ago

Sounds like every single one will be unique. A prototype in every pot!

I'm not following the reasoning behind the sticker confirming this position. They did say they designed 2 prototypes, so it was 19 complete and "2 imperfect" or something along those lines. I personally don't see AP making more for JPop under pretty much any reasonable circumstance, I could be wrong of course.

That's so crazy, you have the same mirror on the wall as Ka-need-a.. what are the odds?

Quoted from Whysnow:

American Pinball has cut ties with Jpop and under dark circumstances. Jpop is toxic in the community and with manufactures. Jpop has no money and he just pushed a notorious turd out the door.

Other than fantasy speculation, can you explain how Jpop will make additional MG's.
