Quoted from Russell:Seriously, what's a MG spot worth at this moment?
I'm thinking 20+ not for the spot...for the machine..maybe 20 ++

Can't see it worth that much....depends on how it plays. Now if it turns out that it has great rules and all the shots work correctly it could be worth some coin.
Quoted from Pinballlew:Can't see it worth that much....depends on how it plays. Now if it turns out that it has great rules and all the shots work correctly it could be worth some coin.
Most people who pay the big bucks for truly collectible pins don't care that much how it plays, as long as it isn't a disaster. It's the overall art package, appearance, theme, and rarity that drives the costs of these, not the rules.
MG's will be very collectible to say the least.
Quoted from ezeltmann:This thread is not nearly as on fire as it should be. Flame on!
Cried "wolf" too many times -- no one believes anymore lol
There are too many great pins coming down the road with what Stern, JJP, Spooky, Heighway etc. are putting out that I'd have absolutely ZERO desire to own MG as a "collectible".
It's guaranteed to have all kinds of issues, but I'm sure there will be a market for it amongst collectors.
I'm happy for some of the MG guys that are getting what they paid for despite a whole slew of others getting F ed by John, including many who put work into the game.

I'm sorry but I'm just really struggling with the concept that Magic Girl is somehow now finished, playing, as originally promised and ready to go into the buyer's gameroom and no one, NO one has any proof the game exists. Last seen it was an unplayable disaster. How in the heck is it now a 20 thousand dollar collector's wet dream?!.... I'm just an idiot or either I just woke up from a Rip Van Winkle nightmare.

At the risk of being political, after the last election, I'd believe anything.

21 Games have been built, but letter to prepare for shipping is new.
What state the code is who knows, but actual built games are about to ship yes

Sounds good. Still the original box of lights?
I'll be waiting for my RAZA soon to follow.
What we have here may be a rush to avoid a judgment.
Quoted from DanQverymuch:At the risk of being political, after the last election, I'd believe anything.
At the risk of becoming political... the last election was actually not that unexpected.
John's mail says the games are ready.. Scott's mail says "The machines will be ready for pick up or deliveries later this month"
Conflicting info as always... I find it comical before anyone even knows what their definition of 'done' is, or even what in the hell they built... people are drooling over how much MG will be worth.
To think these games will be as valuable as Kingpin, or other true industry novelties is amusing. These things are going to be put into collector's hands right from the start. There is no 'hunt' or 'find'. The only thing driving the price of these things up will be people who 'have to have one'. I imagine they will be hard to move after the first few rounds of people who get it out of their system.
Pics or it didn't happen.
If any of this is true - I have a hard time believing this thing is coded to completion, had an animator create assets for the display, an audio designer complete a package, or that it was tested at all. If this actually ships, it'a going to be a barely-functioning nightmare.
Quoted from Rarehero:If this actually ships, it'a going to be a barely-functioning nightmare.
But a collectible nightmare non-the-less..., maybe?
Even if it ships (crap or not), so what? Is RAZA and AIW being completed too? If not, what's the point here?
Quoted from Mbecker:But a collectible nightmare non-the-less..., maybe?
Careful with 'collectible nightmare', I may need that someday!
Quoted from MarkInc:Careful with 'collectible nightmare', I may need that someday!
Lol! Love your nightmare - you've done amazing work!!
CP Pinball in South Roxana, IL (Near St Louis) seems to be getting one. https://www.facebook.com/CP-Pinball-181938475188153/

lol,strange days indeed
Quoted from wcbrandes:Glad all those involved get the machine.
Really? Where's mine then and where's my $11k?
Quoted from wcbrandes:Look at the expensive collectible. King Kong has anyone actually played it? Just rare that's it. kP ok. BBB ok. All rare. Don't be a hero you know this will be a collectible. It's Pinball history. Glad all those involved get the machine. Let's hope he moves into Raza.
what ever happened with the story that you owned the MG license? Did I miss something? Did you sell it back? Are you getting your cut from these being made?
Quoted from Whysnow:what ever happened with the story that you owned the MG license? Did I miss something? Did you sell it back? Are you getting your cut from these being made?
Oh yeah?
Brandes said American Pinball first had to come and get the license and that he will see when they knock on his door?
What's up with that?
Quoted from Whysnow:what ever happened with the story that you owned the MG license? Did I miss something? Did you sell it back? Are you getting your cut from these being made?
Whatever Bill's deal is, I'd think it was never his intention to stop magic girl customers from getting their games if that was an outcome that could be figured out.
Quoted from frolic:Whatever Bill's deal is, I'd think it was never his intention to stop magic girl customers from getting their games.
Who said that?
Quoted from pinballrockstar:Who said that?
It was speculated earlier in this thread that Bill was the reason nothing was happening on the Magic Girl front, when things went quiet and deadlines were missed, but that never made sense.

Ohw,missed that bit.
No that makes no sense,Agreed
So much of this entire story MAKES NO SENSE, and still doesn't.
And apparently will not be ending any time soon.
I heard in order for A.P to circumvent the license agreement with Bill they had to change the name to Magic Hurl.
I would never have one of these in my collection - unless I was an original buyer. Same with Predator. And any JPop machine ever again. He ruined part of pinball for several people. Turned a hobby into ... litigation. No one should ever forget that. John Popadiuk is the worst.
The very idea of getting one of these then having to struggle with any issues...I would never want him to ever lease that much brain space from me again. Maybe AP will offer support in the end.
What about pinheads not paid in full on MG? Is there anyone who would pay up on an invoice from Zidware at this point? God help you if you do because no one else will.
Yeah, it's hard to imagine the typical celebratory game has arrived threads for this, especially when it's only a small percentage of zidware customers that got anything.
American pinball basically was a build contractor for jpop on this... they have zero to do with him going forward he no longer works for them and they own zero of his company.. what ever bill owns or doesn't is up to him to disclose or not... but I personally think u won't see the two other games titles built,
Quoted from rommy:I would never have one of these in my collection - unless I was an original buyer. Same with Predator. And any JPop machine ever again. He ruined part of pinball for several people. Turned a hobby into ... litigation.
Glass half empty point of view.
If it wasn't John it would have been someone else. Skit-B situation is SO much worse.
Thanks to John we have Zombie Yeti working for Stern.
Thanks to John people will never put crazy cash down for start up pinball companies again (well people still will, but you know what I mean - It's totally their fault if they do it now)
Thanks to John we have a new pinball manufacturer in 2017 in American Pinball.
That's the glass half full point of view
Quoted from FalconPunch:Thanks to John we have Zombie Yeti working for Stern.
This is clearly John's greatest legacy from this entire debacle.
I guess MG was getting jealous of all the attention from the Predator court case lately. Behold, an email from the man behind the curtain emerges! When I saw 57 new replies on here, I thought it was just going to be a bunch of off-topic banter & pictures
Quoted from rosh:Mark is correct, I have absolutely no involvement with Magic Girl. I am 100% focused on Houdini.
Harry?
Quoted from ezeltmann:This thread is not nearly as on fire as it should be. Flame on!
Honestly I think at this point, beyond the people who got ripped off, nobody really gives a shit and is just sick of it. We all know this game is gonna be terrible if it actually does ship, and people are just tired of the whole thing.
Here's the video of the 2015 version of Magic Girl:
I am interested to see if the shipping versions are different at all.
So are they building these games with the garbage playfields that used the wrong kind of ink and would not work with the clearcoat?
I can almost bet there will be a mysterious warehouse fire before anyone gets one.
Something isn't right and getting twenty or so folks off the lawsuits will that really help?
still a crook in my book.
Quoted from FalconPunch:Glass half empty point of view.

ok - I'll bite.
So I'm an optimist - i swear by it! And I've tried to hold this view throughout the past few years.... I've tried to be as measured & and as kind as possible about my experience with John... but if you follow me, you've seen & heard me slowly lose that measured response & as of today I've cracked. 'That Podcast Guy's most recent podcast pushed me over the edge, in fact.
Please read this: JOHN DID NOT MAKE ME AN ARTIST. JOHN DID NOT MAKE ME DO DETAILED PINBALL ARTWORK. I chose to put more time in on a proposed meager budget because I wanted to do something 'more than'. When I hear John get the credit for me I'm starting to feel marginalized....
While it's easy for me to say 'well I got to be involved with Ghostbusters as a result' I can't help but feel that that gives John credit for my work.
I swear I am a humble guy and this is completely selfish for me to think - but it burns me in hindsight.
As for the perspective I have on the machines going out - I'm glad for owners - really happy they'll get something FINALLY...
That said, I did all that detailed work (and much more than you see) for that game for little to no pay, tons of headaches, & no fanfare (since I was contractually hidden) for years. Why? Simple. I was promised a game from the beginning.
As of today I've heard NOTHING about John making good on that. I know at least 3 others in the same boat. I hate to break the bad news but with that in mind, I can assure you RAZA and AIW will NOT have my hand to finish the art as a result.
Not trying to rain on the celebration here - just venting because this damn wound isn't closing.
...hopefully this post gets the bad mojo out so I can be done with this issue... apologies for the negativity all!
Quoted from zombieyeti:When I hear John get the credit for me I'm starting to feel marginalized....
Totally fair. I'll refrain from giving John any of the credit in the future. I think we were all just trying to be kind and look on the positive side of things, giving John credit for something other than being a complete mess.
Thanks for chiming in.
Quoted from zombieyeti:JOHN DID NOT MAKE ME AN ARTIST.
I don't think anyone is honestly giving him ANY credit in this regard. When people are saying this, it is (or should be) the serendipitous event of your discovery by the community and Stern, and therefore the opportunity to see more of your work in our little world.
Are any other plaintiffs considering dropping their litigation in return for receiving a MG? Please PM me as appropriate! If this is real then we need to make a decision...
Personally, I'm not ruling anything out. I will say that receiving a MG, if it is playable, might be the best available outcome.
It doesn't solve the RAZA issue (which I part-paid in addition to full payment for MG), but does move things in a positive direction. I signed the contract with Jpop in Aug 2011. It would be nice to bring this nightmare to an end!
