I've been staring at Trex on the bench for quite a few days and am completely stumped. The 5v right/left motor is bad. Have a replacement on hand.

One of the two screws holding the assembly on is covered by the top plate that the trex is mounted to. The output shaft of the motor/transmission is secured to the top plate with a collar with a set screw. I've removed the set screw. I've removed the e-clip and washer holding the switch post. Nothing obviously left holding the two together.

The output shaft will not separate from the collar. I've tried lubricating with penetrating oil and added percussive persuasion with a rubber mallet but no dice. I am getting about a 1/4" of movement in/our of the retaining collar but that's it.

Can anyone offer some insight?

Finally managed to separate the halves. The output shaft was seized on and wasn't coming off. Used a small propane "torch" to heat up the collar with set screw to get it free.

Have you tried contacting Stern ? They usually get back to me pretty fast.
