#3 4 years ago

HI angel, Looks great!!! What is the ceramic varnish and how is it applied? Joe

#4 4 years ago

i 've fouded some more!
i encourage people to try a restoration it' s my very first one,and now i cannot have a pinball without doing it;
And i think it's the better finishing for a pin.20150206_110237.jpg20150206_134932.jpg20150808_174914.jpg

Hi joe the just let me grab my dictionnary to have a good translate

#6 4 years ago

So it's called ceramic in english too it's just a type of varnish it's more hard than the other so it needs more time to dry,but the varnish'deeepness once well dry is just awesome.
I 've used an air brush but the one used for the car repair, and a classic one for the paint

Is the white line across the King's face peeled paint from taking off Mylar? I'm a bit confused because some photos have a perfect king, and others seems to have varnish applied with the white line still there. Or we looking at two or more machines?

#8 4 years ago

Could just be shine from the camera angle. I admire people brave enough to strip down the whole playfield and clean/restore. I should do this to my Jokerz.

The white line it just mastic or filler cause some parts of the playfields were just bear wood.
And this is the same machine,it just me giving pics in disorder sorry it tooks me more than 7month doing this in spare time so i'm a bit confused.
I'm actually renovating the cabinet so i will send pics too

I've tried to show the evolution in airbrushing, with the king half red and faded orange.

so i come back with the cabinet restoration,a very good chalenge ,as tough as the pin is ; butstill i 'm satisfied even if it's far from being perfect.
happy to share some pics about a pin rarely restored20150901_152118.jpg20151005_071844.jpg20151021_100639.jpg

i 've redrawn the jokers on the front cabinet ,and put some mastic on the corner cause the cabinet was totaly destroyed, then
i've sanded the inside of the cabinet and repainted the blue then the white on the back box'sides and finally the elbows in red,
this why there is a diference on the red.

And my pesonnal touch i gave the king a real golden crown! 20151112_140820.jpg20151112_140906.jpg20151112_145815.jpg20151112_145854.jpg

Wow...

You're really tearing into that thing....it's looking great.

I picked up a really beat up Jokers a while back for $100. I found a better playfield shortly after that on ebay, for another $165. I decided against doing a playfield swap, so I sold the entire package to friend who did the swap, and immediately sold the pin fo $1000.

A year later, I was lucky enough to get my hands on a documented HUO Jokerz. This one is staying....

Good luck w/ your project. It looks like it coming along nicely.

Continue to give us pics....That pin is going to turn out nice!

Don't understand all the hate for Jokerz!. Not everyone's cup of tea I guess. Good theme, good art, and fast play. Tough to achieve the "double yer score" on ball 3. QUIET!!, we are playing...........

Fantastic restoration, looks great.... Like the way you've personalised it with matching red rails and legs.
Well done that man.
