I just picked up a fully populated Joker Poker playfield in a bulk buy from a non-pinhead. Are there any differences between the SS and EM playfield? I don't know much about EM and early SS games, but the connectors on mine don't resemble what I can see in the SS pics on ipdb.com and I can't find pics of the EM in-cabinet wiring (on pinside or IPDB). My playfield wiring has double rows of exposed pins (not molex-style connectors that the SS appears to have). Sorry for the poorly composed pic, I was in a rush.

Can anyone confirm if this is an EM version connector (or if there is even a difference between the two)?

Thanks,
Jon

Two completely different animals. Not plug-and-play interchangable at all. The EM will have Jones plugs, the SS will have edge-style connectors.

The playfields themselves have completely different art/objectives also.

Yeah, you've got an EM playfield

Thank you both both for your replies. I was so fixated on trying to find the differences on the back side of the playfield that it never occurred to me that there were such obvious differences on the front with the face and "Double Bonus" text instead of the "5X" without the face. I'll just blame it on a long week. The playfield and plastic art sure makes a lot more sense with the face on the EM instead of just the hat on the SS.

As you can see from my photo (taken in a dark storage building before I bought it), the front of the playfield is pretty rough even though the mechanisms on the back appear to be in pretty good shape. I was hoping to get a CPR playfield and backglass and use the mechs to build up a game around it using a PI-1/X4 board. That may have only been a pipe dream to start with and it sounds like that may not even be practical starting from the EM playfield.

Thanks again for the responses!
