I think you maybe omitting some helpful info.....? So the wire got caught on the rod and then what? Did it blow any fuses? Did the game reset? Did the hand suddenly stop? I don't think anything like you're describing would have happened with the wire getting pulled. So the problem is elsewhere, first off go in the switch test and then the coil test...is everything else working?
