Quoted from puck:What would y’all like to see in an alt?
Good quality! the last alt trans I had was blury ( poor resolution)and thinner than original . Just make it equal or better quality.

There are so many ways to print these things out. We did one on ink-jet with backing to diffuse the LED's but they were strong.
Quoted from Epistaxis:Just got a set of Cliffy protectors for my Johnny Mnemonic and I have no idea where this protector goes if anybody has a picture of where it goes can you post a picture of it.
Looks like it’s for the shooter lane.
Quoted from puck:Can someone post some photos of inside the bottom and top cab? Thanks!
Exactly what do u want pics of?! I not sure what u need.. but ill take some fir ya! You want pics of inside the cabinet with the playfield up? And a pic of the boards?!

Thanks! Mostly just how the bottom cabinet hardware and just inside of the coin door. I am rebuilding from scratch and want to make sure its as good as I can. Appreciate the help. The boards are easy to put together, but if you can get me a photo of the green ground wires in the back box might be good for thread prosperity and ensuring I have the grounds perfect.
Much appreciated.
Quoted from AlexSMendes:What do you guys think?
What does the rest of the artwork look like on the speaker panel? Anybody know where to get that alternate blue speaker panel artwork pictured above too?
Quoted from AlexSMendes:What do you guys think?
AlexSMendes - Do you have a picture of the whole speaker panel?
Quoted from majicman110:Just put a pinstadium in my JM. I love it in this game. I need to take more pics later, but it really brightems up the entire playfield.
More pics please!!!
Quoted from PTHermes:AlexSMendes - Do you have a picture of the whole speaker panel?
No, I don't - that's not my machine...
Quoted from insx:Here's my recent purchase after I fitted new decals and Sideblades.
insx - Those sideblades look really cool! I've never even wanted to buy blades before but these may be my first! Thanks for sharing...

Yes, I was initially a bit disappointed in the print quality but they look good once installed.
Quoted from KevInBuffalo:If you look at the JM flyer, the game has black flippers:
So I put some on my game yesterday, along with some blue SuperBands. I like the look:
Going through this thread from the start! This is interesting because my game came with black flippers and red rubber, I changed to blue rubber because I preferred the look. I never knew it was that way on the flyer.

I assume you got them from retrorefurb - the picture on their site looks pretty nice - is that not the case?

RR's quality is excellent!

Their website states "Stunning print quality, vibrant colors, and deep blacks." for the cyberspace sideblades and I do like the look so am curious if this is where insx got them.
Quoted from bajm:I assume you got them from retrorefurb - the picture on their site looks pretty nice - is that not the case?
Yes, Retro Refurbs. The actual print quality is not as good as the mockup, they get a bit pixelated and fuzzy at actual pinball size and the protective covering adds to the fuzzy look. However, I am happy with them now that they are installed.
Quoted from Flynnyfalcon:More pics please!!!
This is a more complete view if the playfield with pinstadium installed. I have the lights set to jump colors about every 4 seconds and they gradually cycle from blue to yellow to aqua green to purple. I have probably 10 total colors selected along that spectrum and it looks great. I do also have pdi glass on this machine (pinstadium claim that their products eliminate the need for non glare glass, but I can still definitely tell the difference.

Maybe it’s me maybe it’s the camera your using but those pics really don’t look good at all.
Quoted from insx:I still can't get my head around video mode, is there a guide?
move the square around to collect the dots. They will try to evade you so wait for them to pool before moving in. You will bounce off the edges of the screen.
Quickly double tap left or right to increase speed, double tapping again will slow back down. Level 2 will usually have an extra ball to capture.
100 million per screen clearance.

Keep on snarfin'
I'm having lots of fun trying to get all the shots for Access Code 1 (Captain Courageous) before the timer runs out, I'm just not that accurate a player. I've got to Powerdown a couple of times but I haven't achieved this one yet. Does anyone find it easy?

Maybe once or twice but very rarely. I feel the timers for most of the modes are too short for my skill level. The NAS one is very doable but the other 4 are tough to fully complete.
Just joined the club last night. Playfield and game seem almost mint. Decals are faded, but what a FUN game!
I've got a few questions on parts:
Anyone have access to just the red "Johnny Mnemonic" text decals for the cabinet?
Also - if you were ordering a set of "spare parts for a rainy day when they may never be available again for the JM hand mech" - what would they be?
X nut
Y nut
Hand switch
??
Thanks!

I’ve never noticed the x/y nut in short supply. Hand switch seems readily available too. I’d get a replacement spinner and a set of decals for the day it breaks in the future, but those too seem readily available currently. But when I bought mine I got all the listed above parts just in case. Only had to use the spinner and decals so far.

Bump for someone who knows the contact to get these "red text overlay" decals, send me a PM please? Thanks in advance!

Personally, I would sand off the decals and fit new ones. If a quick job was required, I would not bother with primer. I can't imagine even a quick job looking worse than decals on top of original artwork.
Hi!
Got a question regarding the famous magnet.
The magnet in my game is toast (near zero ohms)
I've noticed that they have added some kind of extra resistor inline with the magnet wires. I suspect this was to prevent fuses keep on blowing rather than changing/fixing the magnet. Is there anything like this on the original wire harness behind the hand? Any other stuff between the magnet and the driver board? (Like a flyback diode or something)
Any tips are appreciated
I just wanted to say that Johnny Mnemonic is the best game there is… at least as an „allrounder“ that has a lot bang for it’s buck.
I’m in the (unfortunate?) position that I can only have one pinball machine in my home (well some more in the basement but that’s not the point) so naturally I switch from time to time and things one machine has, is missing by another and the other way around.
Usually, with good games, you can divide these by games that are really fun to shoot, have speed and good flow, to games that have more gimmicks/ toys/ magic in them that makes the ball do things that makes you astounded.
But for me, like a catapult in Houdini, that is great to watch but most toys don’t serve a gameplay sense and therefore get old someday.
JM is different. It’s a game that has lots of flow and speed (although I’d wish the ramps would be a little bit smoother), the hand is an absolutely astonishing toy to watch AND it serves actual gameplay meaning and strategy. (Bonuses in the Matrix, Jackpot positions and multiplier and Multiplayer blocking.)
It is not the best game of all time but it is the best “Jack of all trades” in my book.
And I love it for that, and it will never leave (again)!
(Happy to have him back.)
Hi everyone. Just picked up a JM over the weekend and have 2 broken plastics.... Right sling and the hooked one that runs up to the gloves eject hole. Pictures included.
Considering these are pretty much impossible to find, figured I'd reach out to the club. If anyone has spares of these, even if used or repro'ed (but not broken), or knows a source that isn't going to charge me 50 bucks per piece plus shipping from Timbuktu, PM me. Thanks!

That second plastic isn't broken, it's meant to be this way so it wouldn't break.
You can get that slingshot from pinball.center but I'm not sure if it's original/ official.
I'd Keep it that way and put a fluorescent protector plastic beneath.
That flasher is supposed to be red btw.

I saw that slingshot at pinball.center, but was hoping something else might exist, since I don't need all 3 pieces their kit includes, just the sling.... Plus I don't think they ship to the US (checking).
Thanks for the info on the second plastic not being broken. I am about to tear the top of the playfield down for a full cleaning (really needs it), so I had only glanced at it at this point. As far as the flasher goes, looks like the previous owner switched the red flashers to the top and the blues to the slings... Likely due to the led color scheme they employed.

Post a wanted ad here for just the sling plastic (link it to a forum topic too). I’d bet someone here on PinSide has one they’d be willing to sell.
Thanks. I'll give that a shot next. pinball.center responded to my US shipping inquiry and directed me to https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/german-mail-forwarding-workaround-for-pinball-center
After buying their repro set (not NOS or Authorized/Licensed Repro), you'd have to ship to a mail delivery service in Germany, who would then deliver to the US. Lots of horror stories in that topic/thread from people trying it.... at the very least, really inconsistent results. Plus, we're talking about 80 bucks USD after shipping, just to get one sling plastic I need. Not a viable option, unfortunately.
Don't worry too much. From my experience with that shop their products are very often of less-than-optimal quality; regarding repro plastics I have no own experience but I've heard that they follow suit.. As you only need sling shot plastics they should not be too hard to get NOS, I've seen them quite often for sale in the German forums.
I'll take a look when I'm at my JM next, if I've got an extra set (not sure if I've bought one) I can offer that as a backup. A single letter to the States isn't that expensive..
