Dog flipping gone it, you're right. And I just made my order with Art lastnight . It'll have to wait until the next order.

Hey NPO, next time you are under there, could you glance for a solid-green wire, and a white wire with a green stripe in the back left of the playfield? I have some just hangin' out.

Good thing Art doesn't charge an arm and a leg for shipping like most places do.
Choose hold bonus as one of your matrix awards. Also try and hit as many shots as you can during modes. When you complete a mode make sure you shoot for Bobs bunker. A lot of extra bonus points there.

Will try to remember to do this tomorrow!
So look what came in tonight !!!
Here's my game - one last time cliffyless.
So here are pictures of the cliffys going in. I need to get to bed for work tomorrow, so I do not have time to write a step by step for each picture. If you guys have any questions, let me know! The cost for all Cliffys specifically for JM (not including universal slot inlane protectors) was $55. It comes as:
JM-SET - Johnny Mnemonic Crazy Bobs kickout, left U turn ramp, upper Y divert ramp, shooter eject protector set
Here we go, enjoy the pictures!
I want to give special thanks to our Pinsider moderator, Fattrain, for letting Cliff have his personal JM so Cliff could make these for the community. Thank you very much for your selflessness, Fattrain; we fellow owners truly appreciate it. And thank you, Cliff, for your endless servitude to making our machines a lil safer from the natural wear and tear of the silver ball!

Quoted from Beatnik-Filmstar:JM tactics question.
Been playing it pretty regularly in a local league, and just in general.
Given a three ball game where any extras are just launched and let drain - any scoring advice beyond "spinner millions all day every day?"
The tilt on the machine I play is really really insanely sensitive. I'm not always able to get to spinner millions, or able to abuse it when I can. Any other alternate ways of pulling decent points during what might be a painfully short game? Best second bet? Yakuza strike?
Yes, Yakuza. You should be able to backhand the left ramp to start it off.
or you can choose the Upload mode (use the left flipper to choose modes) which lights both ramps and orbits for points, it's the easiest mode that doesn't require going thru the pops. If you complete it, don't forget to collect the 200M mode bonus at Crazy Bob.
or spell JOHNNY on the left orbit to start a frenzy mode.
None of these are worth as much as the other strategies, but the shots involved could be safer.

Thanks to both of you. Much appreciated.
Almost a little annoying that spinner millions stacked with a decent multiplier and hold bonus can be so lucrative compared to everything else, but it is pretty damn cool when you pull it off.

Those wires go to the spotlight that is mounted on the back of the left ramp and shines on the gloves. You need one of these right here pretty much:
Quoted from conserx:Hey guys,
Was doing some work on my JM & noticed that I seem to be missing a post from under a plastic as shown in my pic below. Can anyone tell me what needs to go there?IMG_0933-825.JPG 65 KB
Checked my recent JM teardown pics for you conserx, hope this helps:
Got some more work done this weekend so far. Updated my flipper buttons to clear NON-COLORED buttons and utilized dual SMD LED flex bulbs for the red (blues were strong enough). When I say dual, I still only used 1 bulb; each buld had two SMD flex LEDs. These were WAY better. Pictures below.
I also installed purple superbands; they look great! I started changing the rubber posts out with red and blues and quickly realized it was going to become a bigger task than anticipated, so I backed off for now. I'll do that later. Changed out the coil sleeve on the shooter lane solenoid, and gave the center of the PF a good cleaning and 1 coat of wax.
Finally, I applied the Super Web grease of both the X and Y axis rods of the glove assembly. I put a SMALL dose of the grease on a paper towel and ran it back and forth, cleaning up ANY excess I could. Once I did that, I let the hand cycle a couple times fully to the left, right, front, and back. Then I turned off the game and wiped off the excess that the X and Y nuts had clumped up to the ends of each rod (basically the rods did the work for me).
It's coming along!

Yes those dual flex, from Comet right, are great. I used 2 regular flex on each button when I first put them in, now each button will have 4 leds lighting them up. I hope I don't melt the buttons.
Quoted from Silver_Bullet:Checked my recent JM teardown pics for you conserx, hope this helps:
Thanks for that, Luckily I have a few of those posts laying spare in my parts bin.
While I'm working on my JM I need to replace the broken hand switch.
I picked up a new "bare" hand switch that isn't riveted to the switch bracket.
Can anyone tell me what size rivets I need to use as none of the rivets I have on hand are correct?
NPO, did you ever identify your weird startup noise? Are you sure it's coming from the hand? My subwoofer makes noises not unlike that when it starts up- time is the same- right before the glove does the home-verification.
Also, when you come to do your GI OCD board (highly recommended in this game because of Powerdown), here's a post on that:
http://quinndunki.com/blondihacks/?p=1921
Someone else asked about how to score big without Spinner Millions. I work on this a lot, because my spinner is weighted a bit to prevent that exploit. Other ways to score big:
1) Be in a mode before starting multi ball
2) Learn your matrix rewards and how they combo together. The best one often depends on your situation. Get good at memorizing a couple of good ones (like extra ball and hold bonus) on the first tour you get. Or be prepared to hit a Crazy Bobs a lot to find the right one. Don't hit random ones- that's a waste of a lock. Have a plan!
3) Hit your throwing spikes. These are easily backhanded from the left flipper.
4) There are a lot of extra balls in this game- learn where they all are. I think I counted eight ways to get one, including the Special drain, if configured that way, and the Replay, if configured.
5) Powerdown is the route to big points without spinner millions. Build up your equipment from Crazy Bobs to maximize Powerdown points
6) Learn to hit the rollover lanes above the pops. There are tricks to light multiple lanes at once, and don't forget you can drop the ball in there from the glove. Completing a set for a 4x could be better than getting another matrix lock. Maxing out multiplier also gets you an extra ball. Other tricks include leveraging ball save to get a free lane lit and always keeping the center or right lane unlit, as those are most commonly hit when the ball drops in that area unexpectedly
7) Do the NAS cure mode first. It drops the ball back in the lanes after each shot, so you can wind up your multiplier early and keep it there for other modes. Then hit that hold bonus in the matrix. You can often get an extra ball, 4x, and hold bonus on your first ball doing this. Then you're really set.
That'll get you started, but I could talk strategy in this game all day.
Well, tonight I attempt to install these bad boys:
Not going to be easy with the PF installed. I wish I had something like a "playfield rotisserie" to put the PF on while doing this, but hey, where would the challenge in that be ?

Just pull out the playfield and put it to the side of the cabinet standing up. There's enough cable to do it.

Well, my wife and I installed the decals tonight. I do not have the physical room to remove the PF, and I was not comfortable with trying to make it work without proper space. It was actually not TOO bad working around it. Basically, we utilized some trigger clamps and put the front of the decals in palce. We would remove the clamp at the very edge closest to the coin door and begin to apply the decal, leaving enough loose decal to continnue peeling the protective back off more and more as we went. The tricky area was obviously where the cabinet and the PF meet and hinge next to each other. There, we peeled a lot more of the protective backing off and slowly worked around the PF until we made it to the back box. From there, we utilized an X-acto knife and made the appropriate cuts around the inside of the cabinet to make the decals fit as they should. Did not take too long at all, maybe 25 minutes or so total.
Thank you to WeirPinball for the advice on how to do this with the PF in place. We knocked it out of the park!
These decals are on eBay in the link from a previous post only one or two above this one, and they are VERY nice. Laminated vinyl, and it is not a "one shot deal" if you apply them and then need to move them around a bit. You have some forgiveness time to re-apply as you install with these.

Pretty much the same place that supermoot already mentioned:

Quoted from TaylorVA:Sorry for the simple question but how do you qualify Crazy Bob's?
Complete all the shots in a mode, or you can light it once from the matrix.
There's an excellent rule sheet out there. Just google Johnny mnemonic pinball rules.

thanks. I looked at a couple but only saw what it awarded, not how to qualify.
I also read that there is a light behind that plastic which I don't think works on the one I have, it's a temp trade, so that has been part of my confusion as it just seemed to award stuff without any indication.
Thanks again...I'm going to go make a long distance phone call.

It's a flasher Taylor...906. When I got mine someone had a 555 bulb in there that was blackened. Throw a 906 in there and test in the flasher test menu with the coin door closed. It's tough to light, but should be obvious when it does get lit.

The Crazy Bob's flasher is a common failure point- the bulb and wiring get banged around a lot. Here's a post on diagnosing and repairing it, in case it isn't just the bulb:

I absolutely love your blog entries. These are VErY well written with great pictures, thoughtful insight, thorough detail, and some great humor - especially with the JM glove article: "This was my penance, and it was harsh but fair" xD ....

Welcome to the club.
Hey guys, I'm going to be replacing the x y nuts this weekend, I have the parts and the lube but was wondering if the How-tos by blondetall and others cover it all or do I still have to take pictures. I've pulled and taken apart and replaced the matrix with no problem so I imagine the hand isn't that much more trouble. Thanks
Quoted from MustangPaul:How-tos by blondetall and others
Where are the best How-tos on this? Searched for it and got a lot. That's why I like Vid's stuff, nice post for each topic.

Famous last words.
Just kidding; but the hardest part for me was getting the hand and backplate assembly off of the pf, home free after that.
Quoted from Pimp77:No cliffy for right ramp? That's the one that's usually blown out...
Of all the requests I got the right ramp wasn't requested even once! Justin's isn't cracked at all so I (mistakenly) assumed no requests, no damage, isn't needed. sorry! I'm sure I'll get back and do that one too.

This is great news! Thank you for making a right ramp protector.
