We are at the software stage, design,CAD and whitewood as you noticed were finished a while back. In terms of hardware we have used Bally/William components with a few mechs designed specially for the table. The electronics are based on a low cost off the shelf processor board running an open scource OS (speed was a major consideration) this is feweding a pin2000 driver board and and off the shelf RGB 16x16 LED driver matrix board. The software supports 16 layers of graphics in the back box monitor, most of which will not be needed. The rules are written and completed as is the wiring diagrams and the wiring - thanks to Dave the Taxman.

The team are all busy folk (A pinball designer, a suit with friends in art and design, a cad/plastics engineer, a software man and an engineer) and are naturally pinball folk, from restorers to players. We are friends who decided to do this for fun, we asked John for a table design that was not constrained by accountants and he was kind enough to oblige.

There is no timescale to the project, we are trying to get it into playable shape so we can start to match the flow and loops and tweak the rules accordingly. I'm sure many folk reading this wonder why we did not use an off the shelf pinball system, the fact is thta remains an option but to date all the systems we have looked at are not fast enough to drive the table to our satisfaction.

We made no announcements but made the mistake of helping out a friend and giving a talk on the table design at the South Coast Slam 18 months back, as a result this news has kind of leaked out (but we have kept a few surprises back).

I'm sure that there are better ways to go about this but we are a virtual team working via the www and the phone, so we will carry on and when things are ready we will make sure that the table does a bit of a tour - that was always the plan.

Is there any reason why you all went with P2K driver boards? Why not P-ROC?

Yep, speed, the ability to address video, cost and RGB LED interfacing. P-ROC is great, especially for working on existing games, it's just not for us at present.
