Very cool, looking forward to future updates.
Oh, if only this could go into production....Spaceship, beautiful girl, mad scientist, ray guns, big monster, Robby the Robot......everything we want!
Hi everyone, a quick update. See this at the Northern Lights show this weekend, won't be flipping as I'm dropping it off and picking it back up Sunday...
If they get the soundtrack from the movie, will be the coolest thing ever. Someone needs to pick it up for production.
Yer killin' me!! Get Stern or someone to make these!
Is Robby still on the top left? Do you have a bank of the control panels in there somewhere?
I want one.
You ain't kidding, Ted. No playfield or cabinet artwork and it still looks awesome. I can't wait to see it completed with a video of game play. The cabinet has a perfectly retro look, kinda like those old Seeburg jukeboxes.
I want one! Of all the themes thrown around this one, with the movie sound effects, would be a winner. When???
Yes...when??
STERN!!....Listen up!!!
...you want an answer to the remake of Attack from Mars?...here it is!
Quoted from Honch:Any progress to report?
No. been busy with other projects including shaker motor manufacture and restoring an Earthshaker! Sometimes it's hard to find time to dedicate as it's the sort of thing you don't want to do just a bit to...
Quoted from epotech:No. been busy with other projects
If/when you get the time to complete it, I'll be looking forward to seeing it.
Quoted from Honch:Bummer! I noticed some new posts and was hoping for an update.
Sorry but nothing amazing to see. Recently I have added some basic code to do some testing, added a gate actuator to reuse the skillshot and last night I was playing with the centre ramp.
No flashers, not even wired in yet. No sound or graphics. We're still building the world's most complicated pin!
Quoted from epotech:Sorry but nothing amazing to see
I disagree, I think it looks awesome.( not kidding in the least either)
It's ok. In case you haven't been following the boutique pin threads. Apparently there's no rush. Looks good I think Johns games are more complex than most designers and they need to grow on you. Once you get Johns designs though , they really get into your pinball blood
Quoted from epotech:Sorry but nothing amazing to see.
Oh really?? Please keep that "non amazing" stuff coming....
Thanks everyone. It means a lot that you like what you're seeing. Once I pull the centre ramp and get it working nicely I'll drop another vid. May take time though as, like nearly everything on this, it's custom.
Quoted from spfxted:My favorite sci-fi film...can't wait to see this!!
I always loved the Robby the Robot. He always reminded me of a giant version of Gomez's ticker tape machine.
Quoted from epotech:Let you work out what this custom mech does.
I don't know....but I LIKE it!!
Still 1671 unnumbered 35.JPEGQuoted from epotech:Let you work out what this custom mech does.
No clue, but it looks like progress to me.
Quoted from epotech:I'll just drop this here...
Let you work out what this custom mech does.

could it move something (like a saucer) over the playfield, towards the player (much like the saucer in AFM was supposed to "originally" do?
Quoted from spfxted:How big is that thingy? Does it fit in up and down (as to lift something) or sideways?
My guess is it lifts the ramp.
Quoted from spfxted:How big is that thingy? Does it fit in up and down (as to lift something) or sideways?
You got it. It lifts the ball and simulates the brain boost machine.
First up, rebuilt the centre ramp lifter mech. you can probably see in this vid the sudden drop. Fixed this.
Proved extremelt difficult to get the ramp lights in as there's little space. Eventually I used LED strips.
next up, having problems with the P3-ROC programming. The documentation blows and was finding it too limiting so currently working on a new OS based on PROC and POSH (the OS I programmed for LEXX) - Diamond. Diamond has inbuilt video and sound capabilities and better control of timers as well as ZLayer rendering. This is the current focus of development.
