Quoted from Msch:

Great run American pinball. Sorry to see you make bad decisions that will put you out of business.

It's a bit premature to announce their death I'd say... Remember Mark Twain

#125 5 years ago
Quoted from Msch:

They won’t sell. The last game sucked. They had better have massive amounts of cash.

Maybe they can merge with Deeproot. DR has no machine but apparently lots of $, AP has a machine but maybe not enough $.

Ah, Internet speculation ( - :

Oh my, the excitement is building...

Boobs and booze.
That's not getting past a lot of wives. Good luck getting this in your basement married dudes.

>> You need a new wife.

Naw, you just need to tell her twice ( - ;

All these things pointed out suggest this theme is fraught with risk.

AP is determined to not spend anything on licensing and they will accomplish that.

#273 5 years ago
Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

...I bet they will have a surprise like the Houdini catapult

I'll take that bet. Depends on your definition of 'surprise' I suppose

Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

Unusual /unique mech ?

American Pinball has yet to create either of those IMHO

#282 5 years ago
Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

The stage door and disappearing / reappearing ball in the stage is definitely unique and unusual.

Could be, never got that far or noticed ) - : I hear they are hard to fix when the cheap servo breaks.

Several catapults around, maybe we should have a metric something like: inchesThrown * percentSuccessful with separated graph lines for different AC line voltages

Quoted from bobukcat:

So you dismiss potential unique features on a game when you never experienced them.

I don't dismiss, just don't appreciate. The menu system in Houdini is very unique. And very costly for little value added. I bet many wish they had just done something simple (and more standard) and put that extra effort into perfecting the game.

I bet AP does the same thing for the UMM-PA-PA game too. Fancy menus and still bug fixing 9 months out.

Quoted from flynnibus:

funny... bet many people feel that way about coindoor remotes...

I'll take that bet! ( - :

I was trying to program macros for common things like go into/come out of Free Play, same for Tournament mode. Not feasible. Every mfg does it differently.

But giving service button access using a PIN # without a key has been well received.

As you say, the many that don't value that will drop their coin elsewhere.

Pop quiz for you:

Stern VS JJP VS Spooky VS American Pinball VS CGC VS DP VS Heighway VS Homepin VS Multimorphic VS …

Mission PF VS pyprocgameHD VS C++ VS …

FAST VS Multimorphic VS PinHeck VS …

4 Programming switches & coin door key VS PinRemote & your cell phone

One of these things is not like the other. No time limit

Quoted from vid1900:

The soundtrack should be all in German too:

When I watch "Das Boot" I always have German audio with English c/c

Quoted from DS_Nadine:

It's never too early to collect stuff for mods!!!

Woa, they made a doll like Kugler already?!?

Quoted from vid1900:

Two more days.......

TOGA! TOGA! TOGA!

Or whatever the equivalent is in German...

#438 5 years ago
Quoted from Yelobird:

Take off you Hoser they put mice in those beer bottles of Elsinor!

"That's a violation of the Canadian code, eh?"

#457 5 years ago
Quoted from rosh:

Certainly possible down the road we might substitute in a different version of a mode when the 'adult setting' is enabled.

A flip-able PF would be nice to show the Sexy Girl side, like a sandwich with the coils in the middle. Sales will top The Addams Family if you do that.

Quoted from FlashDaddy:

Edgar Allen Poe is already 100% public domain.

Alan Parsons Project did an entire album on A.E.P.: "Tales of Mystery and Imagination". One of my favorites

Quoted from toyotaboy:

He said "at least one", I'm guessing it depends on whether or not they have time to build extras before expo.

Anyone have guesses if it has anything "radical" like a 20" ball throw?

I'll bet they use a better PS than in Houdini.

#561 5 years ago
Quoted from rubberducks:

I really think AP are crazy if they don't do the presentation in Lederhosen, Tyrolean or Pork Pie hats and have huge Steins sat on the panel desk (even if they just contain water).

rosh Won't do this, not his style. Balcer, who knows?

Found this gambling machine on my recent trip, these guys fear no cleavage!

Hope someone sells a mod kit to bend #octoberfest more towards #seygirl

Wow, now I'm wondering what "Heidi's Jackpot" involves... Something magical I'd guess

#1400 5 years ago
Quoted from Nepi23:

And a beer-keg mod, whose tap you can operate with the second flipper button!!!!

Now we're talking! Did see some pictures from Illinois last weekend with a backbox that included a tap. Come on all you Mod Makers!

I consider Octoberfest to be API's 15th machine. Reasoning:

1. This is Joe Balcer's 15th design

2. API is Joe Balcer

Quoted from J85M:

The influx of stupid comments on Pinside has hit an all time high recently but this might be going for the top spot.

That would be quite an accomplishment given what you read on Pinside. "A post that will live on in infamy."

A forum is for sharing thoughts. I was just offering an observation that may have been news to some readers here. But flaming others is the norm here, sigh.

#1544 5 years ago
Quoted from rosh:

No doubt Joe having extensive experience in the industry is a huge thing, especially having been at JJP when the started...

That is where I was coming from. We can argue #space jam is / #Ritchie Rich isn't but there is some history there that I wanted to point out.

If nothing else maybe we can set IPDB.COM straight, but you guys can fight about that too ( - :

Quoted from Tuna_Delight:

Get rid of Greta?! Be careful what you ask for.

Yes, Helga. She can carry more beer. Better price/performance ratio

#1553 5 years ago
Quoted from HighVoltage:

Can't believe he hasn't weighed in until now...

Watching this will allow me to expire with a smile on my face. You creative guys amaze me, I'm only an analytic...

Quoted from Ferret:

I have had no power problems with mine in the two months I’ve had it. Electromechanical aspects of the machine have been rock solid.

Does OF have the replacement supply for Houdini or something else?
