It's always Oktoberfest at my house.
Quoted from mcbPalisade:The menu system in Houdini is very unique. And very costly for little value added.
I needed a good laugh today. Obviously you have no idea what it cost, if memory serves the 'fancy' part of them menu system I wrote while sitting in my lazy boy and watching a football game on TV (plenty of time between plays). It is partially built on the pyprocgame/SG framework text based service menu. Well, I am not being fair, it probably took our artist an hour or two to create the icons for me. The nice switch testing tool is an upgrade of the one I wrote for one of my custom games. The real work of the service menu is what goes on underneath.
Quoted from LTG:And can be used in future titles.
Exactly, well worth spending time wall watching that game.
Quoted from PinMonk:Ooohh...tell us a story, Uncle Barry!
Uncle Barry is busy, and while normally I would not go there, but I've sort of reached a point of frustration, so . . . He first reached out asking about how the menu system would work, and I pointed him to the video walk through we had posted. He then wanted to send his product to us to test out. I told him multiple times, we had no time to test it, as this was leading up to TPF. I suggested he contact Zach from STDM since he had a Houdini and they would probably love to be able to test it out and review it. But he sent it to me anyway, he then reached out a couple of days later to ask if I had tested it, I told him no, re-itereted we would likely not have time to do so. He then emailed a couple of days later and I again I responded the same. I suggested he might try reaching out to Mike from GAP, since he has a Houdini and was not far from us. He then emailed saying Mike had not responded, I said give him some time, and then he said he needed it back since it was quite expense to make. I agreed to take it to TPF and return it to him then. It certainly seems that his posting about us turned negative at that point. Now you know the rest of the story.

A mirror with that exact art has been on the wall of my office for 20 years.
Quoted from Rdoyle1978:Aaaah now this seems to make some sense here. I was wondering where the sour grapes smell was coming from
Where there's sour grapes there's whine.

Zing!!
Oh no that Kobe picture was off the chain, lol.
I’m looking forward to playing this game.
Someone please make sure it makes it to the Allentown show next spring!
Oktoberfest rules! All the food, beer, fun and traditional garb that flaunts cleavage too!
I normally buy 25 cases of Hacker Pschorr martzen/Oktoberfest beer every sept when it’s available cause it sells out by oct and then I can drink it all year until the next years release!

So it would appear that maybe it's not just Americans that get offended or upset by some skin being exposed. I guess there are grumpy people waiting to complain in every country. http://www.foxnews.com/travel/2018/09/10/female-oktoberfest-tourists-slammed-for-porno-dresses-accused-ruining-tradition.html
Quoted from mcbPalisade:Could be, never got that far or noticed ) - : I hear they are hard to fix when the cheap servo breaks.
Several catapults around, maybe we should have a metric something like: inchesThrown * percentSuccessful with separated graph lines for different AC line voltages
Wow!!!
You never seen the mech in action for yourself or look up what it does, so completely ignoring it while complaining about the lack of unique mechs, but at the same time manage to know it's hard to repair and breaks easily?
I think this is a pinside Hattrick!!!

I was hanging out in that Hofbrauhaus in Munich about 10 years ago - AMAZING that those are temp structures, multiple levels with bathrooms and everything! Great memory

Those temporary structures are impressive to say the least! I hope to make it to Germany sometime in the next few years to visit Oktoberfest.
Actually this was in Philadelphia at the historic 23rd street armory building last October. It’s an annual event hosted by a couple who lived in Germany and then came back to the USA and opened an excellent authentic German restaurant in the city.
Quoted from adol75:Not really.
Runs this year from sept 22-oct 7, 9 days in September, 7 in October.

I'll take that bet! ( - :
I was trying to program macros for common things like go into/come out of Free Play, same for Tournament mode. Not feasible. Every mfg does it differently.
But giving service button access using a PIN # without a key has been well received.
As you say, the many that don't value that will drop their coin elsewhere.
Quoted from rosh:I suggested he contact Zach from SDTM since he had a Houdini and they would probably love to be able to test it out and review it.
Would have been happy to help, but yeah, no one contacted us.

One of these things is not like the other. No time limit
OneOfTheseThings (resized).jpgI'm thrilled about this new title. Nice work American Pinball. Count me in! So sick of comics, movies, music, blah, blah.

Yep, that's why I've said not really instead of no !
Quoted from fosaisu:You're off-theme already ...
right color, and I'll just be drinking it out of a huge stein
If the game turns out to be humor based, might "OktoberJest" be a better fit and give some direction to artwork, sounds, etc....
Quoted from o-din:Titties and beer and family friendly. Can't wait to see how this one plays out.
If you say it like this, this is a must buy!
Quoted from rosh:Not sure I can drink enough tequila to get me in one of those.
Careful...people are going to take that as a challenge.
American Pinball, I’ve lived in Germany while in the military, and been to Munchen and many Octoberfests there and here. I’ve never been to Chicago or the expo. I may never be able to buy a NIB pin, but if that’s going to be the reveal for Oktoberfest, then this may have to be my 1st road trip there!
Prost!
Important info for the new party animals at the next Oktoberfest.

Oktoberfest? More like Yawnfest. Ridiculous theme for a pinball machine. Not family friendly therefore will limit home sales and operator sales. Maybe it's done in such a small run of machines it doesn't matter but that aside, still a terrible theme.
Quoted from Tucks:Not family friendly
Oktoberfest (the event) is family friendly so there is no reason to think the pin would not also be family friendly. It is parades, rides and music; not just beer.
I know I've been. Buxom women, p*ssed people everywhere and alcohol. Still not 'that' family friendly. I liked it though.
Quoted from Tucks:I know I've been. Buxom women, p*ssed people everywhere and alcohol. Still not 'that' family friendly. I liked it though.
Why are "buxom women" not "family friendly"? New mothers tend to be "buxom".
Quoted from Tucks:and old mothers don't..............
You wouldn't want to take a kid to Oktoberfest, it's carnage.
Think that's mainly due to all the tourists getting wasted and pissing and puking everywhere .. and that's mostly confined to the centre of Munich itself.
Could do an homage to Champion Pub ... video mode where you have to catch the puke and piss with a bucket, instead of the chewing tobacco spit.
Open the windows and waft the choking cigar smoke out of the hall mode.
Totally disagree with the "WTF is this theme" comments. I havent logged into Pinside for months because I am tired of all of the Superhero/Grandpa Rock themes lately. I was wondering if anybody was going to take a chance on an outside the box theme other than DI. I think this is a great idea for a theme and will be watching closely. I also have a Houdini which won't be disappearing anytime soon from my collection.
PS - Shout out to LTG and Hopkins, MN - Pinball's HQ of positive vibes!
PPS - Has Hitler seen this thread yet?

With kids you usually go during the day.
Evening is when everyone gets wasted.

Tons of children and families at Oktoberfest
