Game #3 :
Marvel's Iron Fist using TZ power balls as the FIST

I don't think AP will be doing licensed games. There's TONS of well-known public domain stuff to work with (soon Felix the cat, Steamboat Willy, some edgar allen poe stuff will ALL be public domain, also). There's also straight-up original IP. This "everything licensed" mentality is relatively new in the history of pinball. Pre-2000 most were unlicensed originals.

When are one of these super famous plastic surgery addicts gonna die of a septic infection so people will know how dangerous all this shit really is. They don't even look better, they just look like they've had work done.

Little Richard terrified me as a child.... Donatella Versace now looks like what I am envisioning “Buffalo Bill” (from Silence of the Lambs) would have looked like if he ever finished his human “skin suit.”

Some of these people don’t even look human anymore.

At least with Will Smith and Rob Lowe the only tell is the area around their eyes looks sunken and “off” compared to how tight the rest of their face is.

I saw the picture of it and that was hideous.

Quoted from PinMonk:

Everyone doesn't HAVE to like it, but blaming the game design for personal taste and ability is misplaced.

So is being presumptuous enough to claim that someone who doesn't like the pin is lacking in ability.

You're right, I should have said personal taste OR ability. Thanks.

rosh For every pop bumper you hit you get a pretzel. So then with so many pretzels you can get a pretzel / beer multi-ball?

Or you can mix it up with one pot bumper you get a pretzel, another one you can get a sausage, and 3rd pop bumper you can get another food item

Eat until you explode

Edgar Allen Poe is already 100% public domain. Copyright is currently life of the author plus 70 years and it used to be less than that. He died in 1849.

I never thought about it until you mentioned it, but Poe would make a killer theme. HP Lovecraft would be even better and he's been public domain since 2007.

Alan Parsons Project did an entire album on A.E.P.: "Tales of Mystery and Imagination". One of my favorites

My bad, I was thinking of some more of HP Lovecraft works that are due to be public domain soon. I'd be okay with a Felix the Cat pin, too.

Quoted from RandyV:

My thoughts exactly. People have become so conditioned to expect licensed (and familiar) themes that when someone finally does something original it's dismissed.
I think this Oktoberfest is a great theme and I, for one, am excited to see what they can do with hit.
I applaud Joe and American Pinball for doing something new and creative for us.

100% agree. I’m in on this one. Love it

Walt hasn't been dead 70 years yet. He also doesn't count. Trust and corporate.

They aren't too bad, in moderation.

AP confirmed at least one oktoberfest will be at expo

That's good to hear. It's always great to see new games.

#529 5 years ago
Quoted from Ballypinball:

There will be more than one?

He said "at least one", I'm guessing it depends on whether or not they have time to build extras before expo.

Anyone have guesses if it has anything "radical" like a 20" ball throw?

I'll bet they use a better PS than in Houdini.

#531 5 years ago

The controllable diverter interests me....or is it a magnet...humm.

Already installed. I remember another very cool mech being discussed at some point. Not sure what it is

#533 5 years ago

Balcer tends to do very different layouts. I doubt it will resemble Houdini much.

Depends on who you ask. All pinball are exactly the same according to my wife.

Nirmal discussed this on the podcast and Joe has also said it would be very different more approachable with some more wide-open shots. Looking forward to the reveal!

I’m going to be seriously disappointed if the entire AP team does not wear lederhosen for the entirety of EXPO!

Barring that the promo photo should at least show the devs in lederhosen while playing machine.

Just don’t do a reveal like JJP. DI and POtC were a snooze fest. please make it fun.

What about making some last minute mods so each of the pin’s legs have a pair of lederhosen?

#540 5 years ago
Quoted from rosh:

NO. Don't ruin this for us.

Guarantee you it gets people talking. Do it!

#541 5 years ago

This is one of the biggest reasons I'm going to expo. I handle a lot of breweries and they will almost all want a pin like this.

I know very little about reveal plans, focused on other things

Why they cant just make it a fantasy/sci-fi theme is beyond me, it used to work just fine back in the day.

Because they're doing Oktoberfest - a theme with a lot of fun and creative possibilities. Give API some credit for not going with the same old done to death themes.

Just finished an hour of Houdini looking forward to their next game. Just a few more days till the critics get to take stabs at the layout.
