Hey guys,

Trying to figure out how to fix the glove on a JM. The game is running current roms. So, when you lock a ball and it kicks the ball up to the glove, the glove will either catch it for a second than drop it, or it will just hit off the glove and back down to the VUK.

Could we have a switch issue here where there is a switch somewhere that is registering when the ball is in the glove, causing it to drop the ball?

Thanks for the help!

Sure sounds like the Ball In Hand switch. Inside the glove's big magnet ring is a leaf switch. Over time and impacts, the leaf gets bent back and won't register a catch.

Reach up in there with your finger and see if it will trip in Switch Test mode. If it does, just bend the leaf downward some. If you can feel the click of the switch, but it doesn't register, you may have a loose wire, or possibly something in the switch matrix....

Good luck!

Later,
EV

I had a problem similar to what you are describing - it was the wires going to the switch in the glove - the wires had broken over time due to the movement of the hand and it would cause an intermittent connection. You might want to check the wires behind the playfield/glove in addition to what EV mentions above.

Thanks guys. I'll try these and report back.

Oh forgot to add. Is it true that with the current roms for this game that it disables that switch up in the glove? So maybe that is not the issue. Also, the glove works most of the time, the problem is just intermittent. So I don't know if the broken wire issue will be it, but we will try that anyway.

Food for thought.

look at the wiring harness and test the continuity of the wires (and move them around when doing so) - the problem for me was intermittent and it turned out to be a broken wire in the harness (sometimes it would make contact depending on the glove movement/location, etc).

More food for thought .

I had a JM with same problem, ended up being magnetized, balls, put new ones in and still didn't, you have to make sure they are steel balls. I had silver jet's from marco's and they wouldn't work, just keep dropping off magnet.

Going to mess with the game tomorrow night. I'll report back then.

The proper way to test the ball in hand switch is to put it in switch test mode and lift a ball up into the hand and roll it all around and make sure the switch dosn't show open in any position.

I had this issue. I noticed that up inside my glove, the paddle or switch dog was not operating with full range. The copper or brass ( I think) lever was catching on the edge. This caused the ball to be further away from the magnet design specifucation. Further away means less holding power which means dropped balls

I took it all apart, then trimmed the bracket. About 2 mm. I used tin snips lol. Worked properly ever since until I sold the game. Reach up in there and make sure the switch trip dog moved freely.

It was the glove switch! I swear we adjusted it before, but it looks like second times the charm. Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
