Quoted from JY64:I keep hearing DI being called a hit I just don't see it being that neather the 150 CE or 2500 LE have sold out I would like to know what numbers are a hit a 1000 games 1500 game ?
Pinside number as of right now are indicative I think. My best guess is that pinside accounts for 70% of all route based games and a wild guess but maybe 40-50% of all collector based games. Just WAGs but based on real world observations and trends over time.
Owners/ On route:
DI 363/87
TH 515/89
WOZ 1010/145
To me I would guess real world that DI has sold 1000, TH 1500 and WoZ 2000.
I would say in all 3 cases that those are hits, esp with DI being a non-licensed game that appears to be selling very well as time goes on. I predict it will slowly but surely surpass total numbers of TH in the next year and may even reach WoZ in the longer term since it seems to also be a steady (not great but good and consistent) earner on route along with being liked by players/collectors in the home environment.
Just for the fun of it to compare relative numbers on some recent Sterns
GOTG pro and prem/le combine 190/123
SW combined 516/288
Aero combined 356/197
Any game selling better than GOTG and as good as Aero, while closing in on SW (a hit theme if there ever was one) = a hit in my book.
Quoted from iceman44:I'd say you are close Hilton, except my WAG on Woz would be around the 3k-3500 range
Yeah I figured WOZ I was shooting low and reality is that game is likely a bit of an anomaly of Pinside data vs real world best guess. Given the long cycle and sales platform and also how many went into homes with only 1 or a few pins combined with the steady increase on route over the years, the data is likely skewed under on Pinside reported numbers vs reality.
also just for fun and posterity on this date Iron Maiden already has combined
127/37
I expect that number to grow quickly as LEs/Prems hit homes in the coming month.
Quoted from FalconPunch:The fact that hobbit black arrow is being made means they sold all 1500 LEs..
Then smaug is 0 to 1500
And some black arrows...
I think hobbit would be about 2k unit's plus
Yeah my estimates may be low. The relative numbers are what is interesting. I see no reason to think reported numbers are different from JJP to Stern so the comparisons are insightful and enough for me to say DI is a hit in todays world.
I have to say that as someone that played a bunch of game on the 3 disc verison and now watching a bunch of the 1 disc, I think I actually like the 1 disc better for game play and action.
3 disc was need idea, but 1 disc plays better. I am looking forward to actually playing a 1 disc unit and seeing for sure but the action is better on the 1 disc.
Quoted from bgwilly31:See this drives me up a wall.
I played a handful of games on a prototype at two different shows and had the same exact issues. If a regular joe blow can see these problems after only a few games how can they not have this remedied on the production machine. You would think such things would be no brainers and priorities.
likely just pitch of the game.
No different than the lock shot on DP which seems to require a pf perfectly level and pitch between 6.7 and 7.0 to work consistently.
LTG will get the game dialed in, just takes a few weeks to figure out and make adjustments with any new game. Every game is different. I can go play 5 TAF and each one will have small differences. That is the reality of a physical game.
yeah I am really hoping KingPin gets one before Sept 21/22 so he can bring it to the Mad Rollin Charity Event.
Quoted from cavalier88z24:I knew this day would come. first time I ever paid $2.00 per game. I walked in dropped $5.00 in quarters without realizing it was 2 bucks. played 2 games went to start a third and wanted more money? lol $20 bucks well spent!!
honestly. I am not sure how else an operator can afford the price point on some of these games.
I still hear people complain daily about $1 per play on 8k games that are well maintained. The hobby cant survive on that mentality.
Quoted from cavalier88z24:I agree and I get that. the casual player might not. especially when the sterns a few feet away are $2 for 3 games and set to 5 ball. but as a pinhead, it is my duty to support local pinball. you know. This same location does $2 Tuesday tallboys. so a 16oz tallboy or game of pinball? getting into dangerous territory.
the 5 ball thing is just odd IMHO.
I have thought about printing up some inflation calculator signs to set around games to help people put things in perspective.
pasted_image.25 in 1979 = .92 today .50 in 1989 = 1.04 today .75 in 1999 = 1.15 today 1.00 on 2009 = 1.19 today (resized).pngQuoted from JY64:I disagree as I keep hearing time after time JJP games are for colectors
huh?
way more $8000 JJP games out on route than Stern ones...
Pretty sure SternLE are exclusively built around the home collector market with only a small % seeing route.
JJP games on the other hand are found all over on route, but the price point is hard to stomach unless the route player is also willing to pay the higher amount per game. I will say that with JJP games, they player seems more than happy to pay the increase for what they get.
Quoted from pinball_keefer:As @ltg implied, the default is free play. I don't think the preset tables are defined yet, guess I better get on that.
Personally, my favorite pricing scheme I ever saw get posted was this one:I do wonder how it wound up doing.
I love that you can have a huge pricing matrix on JJP games!!! such a great feature
Quoted from PinMonk:Can we PLEASE get timed pricing tables? Pool tables have this, and it would be a lot easier than having to manually reset the pinball machines every week for special pricing days. We could set special pricing DAILY so slow times could have cheaper pricing to attract players, and busy times could have higher pricing to help pay for the (expensive) machines.
yes please!
Really needed improvement for OPs!
would love to be able to set happy hour pricing on games
