Stream at 3pm where? Is it video?

https://www.twitch.tv/jjplive 3pm Central Standard Time

Quoted from MrBally:

Are you sure you don't mean Central Daylight Time?

I have no idea what I mean.

I'm sure you are right.

Quoted from Raknitz:

the single disk is so noisy on today's live....
even more annoying that the 3 disks

No glass on the game. Note how loud the flippers are.

Quoted from dtowndobe:

Wonder if they’d sell one of the 20 location machines to a customer?!

I doubt it.

And software updates won't support discs or trunk lid.

Quoted from PanzerFreak:

If the part that wears out after a while is just plastic / fairly cheap

If you looked at the original mechanism. Each ring had teeth around the perimeter that meshed with a gear on the motor. So you'd have to replace the whole ring and artwork on it. I doubt it would be cheap.

LTG : )

#748 1 year ago
Quoted from PanzerFreak:

I wonder if the long term wear on those gears were part of the realibility issue.

When I first saw the mech at Expo, and watched it. A few things crossed my mind. The gear chewing up the teeth on the ring. And the ring/pivot and teeth/gear points from balls skipping across them. A lot of stress in different directions.

The bookcase in TAF gets cracks, and breaks, and the arms that turn it break, from moving and balls bouncing across it. And it doesn't spin in all kinds of directions and at different speeds.

So much going on with the three rings, besides the optos locating positions. They have some of the best people there are in pinball, and if they couldn't bullet proof it. No one could.

Quoted from o-din:

At least this will make Lloyd's job a little easier.

Not really. I don't send out parts. That old assembly would have been a nightmare for NJ JJP to deal with.

With all the awesome programmers whipping out bootleg code,

I haven't seen any non JJP updates yet. Pinball browser doesn't work on JJP pins.

Quoted from Psw757:

What else am I missing?

Quoted from Psw757:

2 - Shit replacement art and single disk

If you mean the Twitch video, I'd like to see it with the disc art they will use, not a mock up that day.

Quoted from Psw757:

3 - trunk stuck open and partially obscures star chart

Didn't Eric say in the same video it wouldn't obstruct the stars ?

LTG : )

#1046 1 year ago
Quoted from flashinstinct:

He also said there was what ... Like 1.3 sextillion options

We don't know yet if that has been changed. If moved to the screen, it can still be in the game.

LTG : )

#1103 1 year ago
Quoted from ronaldvg:

Why for f's sake did they show that then ?

So there wouldn't be a bare spot on the playfield.

Quoted from OnTheSnap:

my distributor spoke with JJP and convinced me this is still up for discussion.

And distributor access.

I'd wait until he's back and the dust settles.

Quoted from Whysnow:

What is the current estimate of when production is starting?

In one of the podcasts Eric talked about going to the factory in mid may. They would make 20 games out of production parts and send those out. If all goes well then move onto production.

And Eric will teach Jack how to do a better cartwheel.

So I believe we are getting close.

#1456 1 year ago
Quoted from PanzerFreak:

Over 2,000 games that's only $50 per game

You left out a lot of stuff.

Depp's agents and attorneys get paid. JJP's attorneys get paid to do all the foot work.

Then what ever you use or add in, has to be approved by Disney. What if they say NO ? $100K plus costs and programming wasted and back to square one.

Then consider some if not all of the other 23 characters. What a F'ing nightmare.

This has been done to death in previous threads and posts.

LTG : )

#1459 1 year ago
Quoted from Mike_J:

Does the theme provide enough bang for the buck?

Every manufacturer runs right into what Gary Stern said years ago.

Call distributors and tell them the new licensed title game that is coming. Orders flow in.

Call distributors and tell them an unlicensed game is coming. Maybe they'll take one or two.

Until that does an about turn. We'll keep seeing licensed titles.

Or we have 5 or 6 manufacturers cranking out 100,000 units a year. Then there'd be more opportunities for unlicensed games.

LTG : )

#1517 1 year ago
Quoted from vireland:

I thought the CE were however many they had orders for by 12/31/17, not 150.

That was for Dialed In ( 12/31/16 ) JJPPOTC CE is limited to 200.

LTG : )

#1628 1 year ago
Quoted from DerGoetz:

That is very unfortunate, at least in my case.

Shipping with the large cutout and a filler ring would have allowed for you, at a later date, to have released a "black Pearl Edition" with the original but now fixed 3 ring setup.

The early Adopters could have then purchased the 3 Ring system at a preferred price and swapped it in within minutes and load the Black Pearl code.

Jack has already said there will be no such thing ever built. No pirates special editions with the three ring mech.

#1975 1 year ago
Quoted from KingBW:

Oh wow … that would spark a pinside revolt thread … if you locked yourself into exclusivity to only support deeproot. You're more welcome here on the non-exclusivity side of the wall.

I was kidding about Dave's bit "they are spending money on very talented experienced and new pinball people to create an infrastructure for pinball development and production", that they haven't contacted me.

I wouldn't lock myself into anything exclusive. I can't be limited to one company, or helping anyone. Online, email, or in person. Just think if a person came into my arcade with a problem and I couldn't help them.

Being spread out helping over 22 years, it would be impossible to be exclusive.

Not to mention I am constantly learning. Being exclusive would limit that too.

I have no problem with a NDA. But that's it.

In an admirable way I would bet you would do it for free

I do do it for free. 12 hours a day, about 10 on Sunday. Not counting when I'm up early or working late. I get the games for tech support, but I'd need that either way.

Quoted from Yelobird:

but you really should write a book or memoir of your life experiences.

My life and times as a pinball tech and lover. A friend once told me that I've forgotten more fun than most people have had.

I've been blessed being in a situation to help, and meet, so many people.

Thank you for the kind words my friend !

why even bother with live streams. what's the point

The Chicago office is proud of the work they have done on programming for POTC and Hobbit, and have been showing it.

LTG : )

#2183 1 year ago
Quoted from PanzerFreak:

They took two weeks off from showing POTC code to showcase new Hobbit code

During this time the USA had a major holiday too.

Quoted from PanzerFreak:

Thats a bunch of rubbish.

Sadly, when people don't know. Theories run rampant. Look what happened over on the CGC #3 thread. Everything from license issues to Stern making them. I'm glad I bowed out of that mess.

#2300 1 year ago
Quoted from musketd:

So in other words nothing was added to the actual game itself? As far as toys or anything to replace them?

Trunk lid in rear of the game is fixed open. Spinning discs replaced with one spinning disc.

Trunk from three feet away when you are playing it, you wouldn't see anyway. The spinning discs are now on the big screen in the head, doing what they would have been doing. And the single disc does a way better job at slinging the ball.

So a lot more was in fact added.

LTG : )

#2303 1 year ago
Quoted from Skyemont:

Question. Sorry if I missed this answer but did the art work around the spinner stay the same as it was before when they took the 3 spinning disk out?

Quoted from TomDK:

So maybe my opinion will change after I saw the final playfield live.

That's fair. Some games do look better in person than in pictures or video. Hopefully you can play it too, before you decide.

LTG : )

#2328 1 year ago
Quoted from imagamejunky:

Since they brought a prototype to Lodi I would think they would bring a completed one to Santa Clara too

There wasn't one available. Construction just started this past Thursday. It will take a bit to get completed games where everybody wants them.

Quoted from imagamejunky:

Before spending $9500 I want to see the completed polished game.

Agreed. $9500 is an investment in what you want in a pinball machine. I hope you get to see and play one soon so you can decide.

Quoted from Join_The_Cirqus:

Has this feature been removed?

No. They are using the same game as in recent twitch feeds, note the dirty flipper rubber rings. Since they are constantly updating software for the games and these feeds, I suspect they are working on timing or speed for these, and aren't used in the recent feed we watched.

Quoted from cjmjmm2006:

I dont know what the difference are from the collector model minus I was told you get a topper that is interactive with the game in some manner.

POTC is on the production line... We all know this. But, my question is why do bars, people who route them, etc.... get them way ahead of the homeowners?

And any that have gone to homeowners, their owner may not be on Pinside to post pictures, etc.

I have to ask - how would you rank all 4? If it's too early with pirates, all three?

Over time WOZ, Hobbit, and Dialed In seem to have their own unique following.

Might be too early to tell on Pirates. Right now it is hot.

Very similar to Dialed In when I first got it. People that put a game or two on it keep coming back for more.

Quoted from drfrightner:

if they stay at this pace they simply won't be in business much longer. That can't be disputed.

I'd dispute it.

But what do I know ?

LTG : )

#2960 1 year ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

LTG will get the game dialed in, just takes a few weeks to figure out and make adjustments with any new game. Every game is different. I can go play 5 TAF and each one will have small differences. That is the reality of a physical game.

Right you are.

Tweaked a couple switches. Had a screw come out that holds the coil for the trunk ball release, easy fix. Tweaked the rocking ship. Been pretty good so far as a new game coming in that bounced around the back of a semi trailer across half the country.

And players love it and are learning what to do.

My favorite so far is ball shot out of the Black Pearl to the left into the Dauntless. Screaming across at about 3 or 4 inches above the playfield. I think that is really crazy.

LTG : )

#2989 1 year ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

Is default pricing now $2 per game?

I didn't check default.

Mine came on free play. So I set it to $1.00 a game. Once I get a bill validator on it I'll change it to 6 games for $5.00

LTG : )

#3004 1 year ago
Quoted from cjmjmm2006:

I got a message that a customer was concerned about the game costing $1. Huh? They may be a customer of the establishment but not a customer of the games.

First time I ran into something like that was on the full size ride on Sega Hang On motorcycle video game. Games from Tokyo had the 75¢ price per play labeled 3X25. Had a man walking by with a bag of groceries, came in and looked at it. Approached me and seemed angry. He said, "you mean to tell me that game is 75¢ ?". I screamed at him, " no it's three games for a quarter".

I love messing with non customers.

LTG : )

#3029 1 year ago
Quoted from Captchaos:

The one thing I found interesting was that people were playing everything except pirates.

I've had that happen, unless someone is playing it. For some reason people think it's the Stern version ( which I have here too ) or it's a remake.

If someone is playing it, it doesn't take long to get attention.

LTG : )

#3034 1 year ago
Quoted from JY64:

It could be as simple as the cost to play is more

Not here. My customers know the pricing. I currently have eight pins at a dollar a game. ( varies a bit if you put in more money )
