Quoted from SilverballNut:

I know of one for sure too. I just got the refund (minus fees) posted to my paypal account. Joe at PinballStar was very understanding.
The spinning disks mech was the heart of this game, without that it becomes even more generic. I'll wait and play a production game, but doubt there will be enough there to warrant buying it later on.

To make matters 100x worse, they took a cool looking centerpiece of the game and replaced it with something that looks like someone threw up on the middle of the playfield. I can live with the trunk change, but I don't think I can stay in based on the disc change. Who wants to look at that all the time while you're playing? Feel bad that this is the hand that Eric is getting dealt. Deep down, I can't see how he could be ok with this even though he HAS to say otherwise publicly. C'mon JJP, you gotta do something better than this.

Quoted from tiesmasc:

Disappointing from many perspectives but from a support and ultimate user experience perspective likely the best choices.
That said the artwork in the disk area really needs work. It might even be better just leaving the artwork as it was (but removing words and lights, etc) similar to what is shown below or even just replacing with the compass style design would be much better than what was shown.

I still look forward to playing this...

The middle of the playfield is a far better place to put the visual of the compass pointing to what you want the most. Maybe a combination of a round LCD window in the middle of the playfield combined with an outer rim spinning disk that you could sync up with video could be a decent looking alternative. That would put the compass in much better place that's easy to see and eliminate the apron lcd. I've never liked the positioning of the mini-lcd compass on the apron since you need to take your eyes off the playfield to see what's on it and it's not even the shape of compass.
