I think I am in the same ship as you @djsoup.
My chest opens and closes on startup but not during game play.

Mine is working perfectly now. All I did was adjust the switch arm so it would engage fully!

When your forks are in the down position can you lift the switch and it engages? If so you can adjust the leaf switch down so it closes as it should when forks are down.
