For those doing the 220v to 110v conversion, here is all you need: JJP Part #99-000139-00 (Power Box Assy, USA)
The official JJP USA Power Cable is also part #19-009000-00 (Line Power Cable, USA SJT 18 AWG)

It is a complete power wire harness plus outlet/switch cover that will replace the original. For swapping the easiest thing to do is to start by replacing the 220v outlet/switch cover with the new one and then work towards the back of the machine and finally up into the head. As you go, its easiest to remove the old harness connections and immediately replace with the new. Takes about 30 minutes in total.

Just a quick reminder to people looking at switch tests indicating 'bad switch'. When I booted up last night it ran the automated report and flagged two bad switches. However - when I exercised them, they went back to normal. I then recalled some switches reporting as 'bad' after a certain number of plays and not having them hit. I think the two of mine that were bad were the pearl cannon loaded opto, and the dauntless bullseye opto. My 5 year old loves playing the game so he's played a good number and not shot the pearl cannon much less hit the bullseye

Figured I'd remind everyone just in case.

Is it getting stuck between the ramp and the playfield - like the gap is too big?

Quoted from bbulkley:

Should the Black Pearl home position be level, or should it tilt to the left like mine does? Mine only tilts right at the very end of its movement.
EDIT: I watched some videos and it looks like that's normal. I'll have to adjust my ramp though, because my ball keeps getting stuck under the left flipper.

#2564 4 years ago

Yeah sounds like the pearl needs to shift down towards the ramp. Some people use a spacer between the pearl and the hex nut holding it on in the back. I actually found my pearl mounting pins to be bent. I bent them back straight and that solved it for me - no spacer. Particularly the pin bracket mounted to the backboard of the playfield for me was bent upwards causing my pearl not to be able to shift all the way forward.

Anyone figure out how to quiet down the CE topper yet? That thing is way louder than the spinning disk!

#2576 4 years ago

Yeah its the motor and not clanking of any mechs. It resonates through the head as well like a big speaker box so to speak. Seems like there is a decent amount of resistance from the mechanisms the motor is driving. I should see if everything is lined up properly.

I've got the speed as low as I'm comfortable with that doesn't strain the motor. Made a bit of a different but not much.

Quoted from jrawlinson_2000:

Anyone know where this Cliffy part goes in the Pirates?[quoted image]

That replaces the mylar that is around the 'bayou' hole under the upper left flipper.

#2610 4 years ago

I put on all Cliffy's except that one as well. I don't hit the bayou frequently enough to make me feel like I need it. I'll monitor and apply if I ever notice it needs it.

After aiming my tortuga vuk and adding loc-tite as well as adding the pad to the coil stop I am still getting kickouts SDTM. The frequency has decreased but they are still happening at a decent clip - usually at the worst times too. Arghhh

#2617 4 years ago

Good question! Anyone have a photo of the new bracket?

#2620 4 years ago

Awesome, thanks wesman and @yelobird! I got too busy last night, but will check it out when I'm back home today.

Looks like I do have the updated longer one.

I've not tried different power on the tortuga. I'll dabble with that next. I definitely aimed my scoop more towards the base of the left flipper as you can see by the photo but i'd estimate 2 in 10 balls still go down the middle.

#2633 4 years ago

Tortuga was an island if I recall. An extremely rowdy place filled with pirates.

#2634 4 years ago

zaphX - can you take a shot similar to my second one above showing how you have your scoop aimed?

#2654 4 years ago

After tweaking the ball deflector and adding loctite I would still get balls SDTM out of the tortuga saucer. Added pad to the coil stop as well to no avail. I then adjusted the coil power down 2 clicks from default and it has been rock solid since for about a dozen games - zero STDM's!

My shooter rod washer near the rubber tip keeps hitting my auto plunger top. I have adjusted the shooter rod as low as it will go which helps but I still get the occasional al plunge that will graze the top of the auto plunger. Any Suggestions?

Quoted from delt31:

Any tips for installing side art and not having it get ripped? I just had my kraken side art get chewed up so bad I had to throw it away

I use pinball universe side blade protectors. I bought them from Mezel Mods. They are a must to not scratch the art while working on it!

Thanks all - bent the hangers a bit more downwards and that solved it! Funny thing is both my wonka and pirates were fine and seemed to have developed this same thing over time.

They recommend changing a couple parts out as well as the change in the manual to ensure proper safety protection. The recommendation is to just get the conversion kit to make it easier. I can't recall which parts they were though...
