Check to make sure the wire loom behind it isn't making it stick

I would love for someone from JJP to tell me how to read that f'ing starmap.

#1001 4 years ago

I occasionally stare at it, and don't notice any recognizable patterns. Maybe I need to "lazy eye" it like those 3d posters. haha.

My yellow lockdown handle is so tight, I have to use two hands to move it.

#1013 4 years ago
Quoted from Lermods:

the two brass screws under the lockdown bar can be adjusted to make it easier.

Sweet. Man, they had them cranked down from the factory.

Quoted from GnarLee:

Ya I know. Noticed it last night but didnt think anything of it. Then this morning watched it put 3 balls into shooter lane and then auto launch. Today was fish tank maintenance day so no work on machine. Did a small test after I was done with fish tank and basically just launched a ball and then let the auto save do its thing. All 3 balls the auto launch took prolly 10 seconds after ball was in the lane. The third one it went into ball search mode so more than likely it is the shooter lane switch. Will pull the glass in the morning and test to find out what is going on. Thanks for the tip

Will need pics of fish tank.

I like it...
lol
Would think there's options for this in the menu.

I don't even notice it. (The topper nor the flickering)

Quoted from wesman:

I don't have one either.
[quoted image]

Nor do i.

My BP VUK wouldn't get the ball up on stock settings. I had to turn it up, but can't remember what I turned it up to. I'll have to check and maybe dial it back if needed.

My spotlight above Tortuga Tom always goes out. I've tried several bulbs. Any tricks for this?

#1306 4 years ago
Quoted from harryhoudini:

Are you using 12v bulbs?

Aren't they the standard 555 6.3vac bulbs?

#1308 4 years ago
Quoted from LTG:

No.
LTG : )

Oh. My stock one kept going on/off. It would come on if I put pressure on it, so I went to pull it out to try and modify it..and I broke it.

Edit. Just pulled a bulb from the coin slot and used that. All good.

Just worked out why I had a few issues.[quoted image][quoted image]

My stock factory balls are still working fine.

Quoted from MurphyPeoples:

Okay - for those guru's that guessed I had Magnetized Balls.... you are RIGHT! Every single ball is magnetized. Some balls only in ONE SPOT - which would
explain the randomness of the balls not draining in the trough. I don't know if I've solved it, as I have no "new balls". I'll be running by Marco Specialties after lunch tomorrow ( On Friday's I work about 5 miles from their shop). Should I just order a sleeve of their Standard Silver Jets? Or a Special ball of some type?
Here's the thing - I've got less than 100 plays on the machine. Weird that they would magnetize so quickly. Should I expect to have to change them every 100 games?
More to come tomorrow - after I load in 5 new ball! : )
Murphy[quoted image]

Huh. I'm just using the balls the game came with. No issues in the last 7 months.

Posted in the owners thread but should probably have posted here.
My audio keeps going out. Any idea of which specific cables to look at possible loose connections?

#2937 3 years ago
Quoted from zaphX:

Make sure the cable is well seated in the green port in the motherboard. Follow it along the right to the square noise filter and make sure it's secure there also.

Plug seems good. Should I take the silver box cover off and see where that other end of the cable plugs in?

*If the game is sitting idle waiting for ball launch, the sound is fine. It's only until ball is in play and hitting things that the audio blips out.

#2943 3 years ago
Quoted from zaphX:

No need to follow the port, it's soldered into the motherboard. Follow the cable and make sure it's seated well in the ground loop isolator (square box on the right side)

All is connected well on that cable. Restated the connections.
No dice.

Quoted from gumnut01:

I had a problem with my audio with pops and crackles. Unplugging the headphone connection on the motherboard fixed it.

Huh. So it didn't work if you unplugged it by the coin door?
I'll give it a try tomorrow. Too many beers tonight.

Unplugged the headphone cable. Issue is still there.

#2949 3 years ago
Quoted from zaphX:

Also, does bypassing the ground loop isolator change the behavior at all? (Maybe it itself is bad?)

Tried bypassing ground loop and had no audio.

#2950 3 years ago

I pulled the blue/black wire out of the headphone jack like the video and same issue.

#2958 3 years ago

edit. I think it's just a bad ground loop iso. Talked with Barry @ JJP. Hooked up my phone to the game w/out the g loop and listened to a GD concert while having lunch. All seemed fine.

#2963 3 years ago

Just put on new audio cable and ground loop. Audio still going in and out. Board issue?

#2965 3 years ago
Quoted from zaphX:

Have you checked the cable going into the audio amp yet? Is it fully seated?

Just played 2 games with no sound problems. I slid the playfield out a little and must have jostled something. No idea what but seems ok for now.

Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Is there an adjustment for the tortuga coil power? I don't see it in the menu.
Mine started firing the ball sdtm and I want to adjust it a bit.
Lit xball at the scoop then it fired sdtm...on last ball. Grrr

#3258 3 years ago
Quoted from EaglePin:

There's a power adjustment for it in the menu under Settings-Coil Settings. I don't think it's called Tortuga scoop though. I think it's listed as a VUK in the pop bumpers or something like that.

Yeah, I think I saw that. I'll check it out. Thanks.
