The replacement tortuga hole cover (snubber bracket) solves the issue!! Can't comment on the STDM yet, but the launch trajectory is definitely different.

Oh and thanks to Steve at JJP for taking care of this so damn quick.
Is that higher than the standard scoop? The one it came with it pretty close to the wireform as is.

I’ve been trying to get one ever since they came out. But I never get an answer to my ticket or email or call.
Edit: bracket is on the way!! Thanks to JJP support for reaching out.
Quoted from f3honda4me:I’ve been trying to get one ever since they came out. But I never get an answer to my ticket or email or call.
I'll PM you.
Quoted from wesman:Is that higher than the standard scoop? The one it came with it pretty close to the wireform as is.
It's not really higher, per say.. it's longer. Meaning the tip of the scoop is closer to the front of the tortuga hole. It may be a hair taller but I made sure and it fits under the wireform easily.
Quoted from f3honda4me:You need to stop obsessing over every little detail and just play it. By playing it, you'll discover if something isn't working right. THEN you can fix it. :/
If I’m being honest...I didn’t even notice it.
Then I went to install my parrot mod and THEN I noticed it and it was all downhill from there.

Huh. I think mine came with your new scoop. So maybe not all will have this problem. Built 28/8/2018, so I guess mine is quite an early build?

Yup, that looks like the new one and I think mine was built around the same time so maybe there was a cutoff right around that time.
FWIW,
Circling back to the potential MAP hole issues and the exposed screws.
I thoroughly inspected my balls before replacing and I didn’t notice any kind of damage.
I think this theory has been debunked that the MAP hole was causing issues with balls, but I said I would share.

It's weird, I've gotten recommendations to trim that t-nut, and also to not trim.
How many plays are you at Joseph?
I assume nearly all tables have this issue, though zaphX said one of his friend's or his, didn't. But I'd figure these balls would all be chewed up otherwise, on location or not.
PinMonk did you trim yer nut? (So personal, I know!)

Nah. I left it. I don't think the ball is actually hitting that protruding part that often. But if it is, it'll become clear over time.

Less then 4 hours ago and 20 posts you said you were just going to start playing your game? You came to this conclusion already??? Just poking at you, hope your playing the crap out of it with your tool box safely locked in the closet.

Called my distributor Mr awesome at KingPinGames and he has a new bracket on the way. Curious, what does this new design bracket help with? I assume bounce outs or something else.

My issue was not being able to make the shot. Ball bounced out every time, pretty much. Not sure if it was designed to change kickout, but making the shot is entirely possible now.
Quoted from wesman:How many plays are you at Joseph?
Zero. LOL
My game was on location and has not had the nut trimmed and the balls are shiny as the day they were born.

Poor Joseph.... I realize he makes his own energy, but this dude also bought a CE of this for his first game. Pinball brings out the neurosis, and joy, in all of us.
Note taken! Glad your'e an owner, kept your on location game, and are posting about things you're encountering.
We got a good lot on this ship, for sure. ARRRRR!

I actually bought it from the operator, so don't give me too much props. I was lucky even to find an LE within driving distance. But yeah, interesting to see the kinds of issues I found with this game compared to other home use games. Funny enough, there is a game on route about 30 minutes from me that has similar issues to mine (and others here). I tried to find and let the operator know, not sure if that message got through.
Action button getting stuck. I guess just ask for a new one from Jack? Also thanks to all the posters who helped with the shorter hex spacers. Great fun shooting the bullseye. Damn difficult to do during black pearl Multiball. Anyone else resolved the sticking action button?

Or lubricate it, or get a Stern button from pinballlife.
Thanks zaphx. I tried silicon lubricant. It did not do much. I think this button has a few burrs on it that are catching. I wonder if it is because the angle is different to a normal flipper button and that it gets pounded.

I've seen that. Try lightly sanding the button shaft.
Going to finally do update since the last one was released. Will i need to do all the ones before or can I just do the one that was just released?

If you have .98 I believe you can just do .99 delta

Make sure to use a thumb drive between 8 and 32 GB.
I forgot about that after having read that somewhere, and wasted time messing about with a larger stick.
It's okay guys!
ALL is right with the world..
You see, I took a video of the playfield/game when I got it. I won't bore you with images or the video, but what I wanted to see, I saw - to include the right wireform and the "gap" with the ramp and the ship. (It had to be right...after all, the screws only go in one place)
I took this video to merely show off to friends, but I'm glad I took it because it's a nice little reference when needed...
Quoted from gumnut01:Action button getting stuck.
Getting stuck on the switch ? Put a dab of hot glue on the bottom to give it a wider footprint. Live happily ever after.
LTG : )

Thanks, will give it a go.

I think I did see you mention this before but forgot. So many posts, sorry. Shall look into this as well. Thanks.
Alright guys ... so unfortunately two things..
1) The left BP spinner is stiff. Stiff enough that the ball wouldn't come through it. The right spinner is butter. (Can't seem to get away from this BP) i lubed the left spinner as well and it doesn't seem to matter. So not sure if bent wire or what...
2) More concerning -- the game is not recognizing when the ball drains right away. It does eventually - but this can take anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute. I did change out the balls to Ninja Chrome and there are 0 switch errors or errors in general on the game.
Quoted from DrDQ:Joseph,
Those chrome balls may be magnetized.
Better to go with carbon steel on POTC.
After 2 games?
Quoted from joseph5185:After 2 games?
Yes, chromed balls cannot be used in games with magnets.

Fine. I'll switch them out and test.
No worries.
That's absolutely crazy to me.
Okay.
Quoted from joseph5185:That's absolutely crazy to me.
I also have opinions about crazy.
My patience is running out on this pin.
Like. I'm trying really hard. I know I get teased for over-obsessing, overthinking, or w/e, but I keep running into legitimate things that is hindering me from actually enjoying this game.
And I WANT to...

If it’s providing more aggravation than joy, sell it. Demand is high, you’ll get your money back out of it. You have absolutely spent more time messing with it than playing it.

I'll be better for it in the long run. I know that.
But it's frustrating now...

Quoted from f3honda4me:Outside of the BP flipper I don’t think you’ve had any issues that weren’t self inflicted that I recall. Then again there are a lot of posts I glossed over so I could be totally wrong. Not trying to be mean, but it’s a complex game and probably not the best first ever pin. BP gate probably just needs a quick bend to fix. We told you not to use chrome balls and you did anyways. :p
I think that's fair and accurate, but the BP issue wasn't all that minor.
Quoted from joseph5185:I'll be better for it in the long run. I know that.

If you were closer I’d buy it myself to put you out of your misery.
Some of your problems are self-induced here. For example the chromed balls magnetizing and sticking in the trough. Why didn’t you just play with the stock balls for your first 500-1000 games? Why did you buy chromed ones when the sites warn you specifically against using them with magnets?
You really need to consider if pinball is the right hobby for you. You seem to be someone who seeks perfection - I get that, and respect it - but you’re not going to find it in pinball.

You're right. I'm a perfectionist.
But I love pinball or I wouldn't have bought it in the first place. The game thinks it's great. NO errors whatsoever. I just keep running into stupid, silly, things. Like the spinner won't spin. Really? Like...Okay. Haha
It "looks" fine to me. Am I wrong?

Take off the top of the ship and take a pic. Find out what is hanging up the spinner.

The game self-test is not a 100% indicator. Plenty of things can cause problems that don’t get caught by the test. For example, magnetized chrome balls.
The stuck spinner is a physical device. Look at it. Spin it with your finger. Find out what is binding it. It’s not something we can see from the picture.
Quoted from harryhoudini:Take off the top of the ship and take a pic. Find out what is hanging up the spinner.
Sure. Looks like there are some nuts on top so I'll work on that.
I'm NOT sleeping until this game is rolling. It's pretty much personal at this point.

Maybe @zaphx. Maybe.
I won't flood the thread again, but check it out.
Had a minor issue with the flipper again and just tighten the pawl nut, right? Nope. It's never that easy - at least not for me. Again, whatever. So the pawl nut is tight and I go to manually flip the flipper and "somehow" it's not connected. No clue.
It will be easier to take the top off as well to check out the left BP spinner as well.
It's okay. I'm an expert now at taking off and putting on the BP.
Later.

You don’t remove the BP to fix the spinner. Just the piece covering the spinner. I’m guessing you just accidentally tweaked it when you had the BP off before.
