Quoted from SantaEatsCheese:

Did you hear this from Pinball Star? I'd bet you a nickel he still has them available.

The email link stated when links die, the game is sold out. I hit the button and it said so.

J.J. Babich also sold out on CE's.

#3054 1 year ago

Hoo boy... I actually really like Toy Story 4, just as much as the other films, but man, the pin being centered around just 4 really is disappointing... And weird. I'm wondering if the game was originally supposed to release around Toy Story 4's release. It certainly would have made more sense then than releasing it now, three years after the film came out.

Whatever, not like I was going to buy one anyways, I'll look forward to playing it whenever they start popping up at locations.

This might be the end of these type of reveals as JJP and distributors rush to lock in sales before you see any type of gameplay.

Spooky? Nope.

JJP? If people are buying this out of FOMO it looks like it's going to end badly.

Buying it because you like it and don't mind "overpaying", then have fun with it.

I see ZERO chance they can come close to selling 5,000 of these games at $12,500. The LE might end up being the real limited edition.

The CE? They should be plentiful for a long time to come. Secondary market is going to be disappointing for the FOMO's.

Quoted from NightTrain:

They make sure you hit the ramp square and not off to the side. I imagine they don't want you slamming a ball into the screen.

Thanks. that makes sense. I was just thinking back to past games like Goldeneye and LAH that had pop up ramps without posts but this would be a smart idea to keep the ball from damaging the game.

#3058 1 year ago
Quoted from PanzerFreak:

Here's the crazy thing, Toy Story at Disney World is called Toy Story Land. Why couldn't this game be called Toy Story Pinball then? None of the rides are named "Toy Story 4 Coaster" or something like that. It's so odd seeing that "4" up there in the games title and having everything restricted to the 4th film.

Yeah, there’s no way the 4 was a Disney mandate. Someone at JJP came to that choice. Maybe they thought 4 = newer so “more interesting”. Knowing how OCD many pinball people are, they should have seen that the 4 would turn people off.

Iron Man pinball is technically Iron Man 2 - the DMD even says “Iron Man 2” when you boot up…but they smartly branded the game just “Iron Man”.

#3059 1 year ago
Quoted from Mando:

“Individually controlled” by who ? The player ?

The pop up posts look like a way to prevent crazy airballs that could otherwise damage the game. NGG used posts next to its rising ramp to likely prevent the same issue. Without the pop up posts on TS4 a player could possibly hit the ramp at a certain angle to send it right into the screen.

Quoted from Pinballomatic:

Covers rules to all the modes and plays tiki party video pinball

Could I politely ask what the thought process was in having a 10” display to play a digital pinball layout video/mini mode in a physical pin?

It’s abit of a head scratcher so I’m genuinely curious and interested to know, where there no other video mode ideas? Also from a theme perspective what’s the digital display got to do with toy story? Thanks

#3062 1 year ago

Guys,

DO NOT REQUEST/RESPOND TO RANDOM PAYPAL LINKS YOU ARE NOT 100% ARE FROM REAL DISTRIBUTORS!!!

I have had 2 people request paypal links for Pinball Star from me now. Please contact distributors directly for that type of information. I am not going to rip you off but it would be very easy for me to do so if I were so inclined. Please work directly with the distributor. Missing out on the pin is preferable to possibly getting ripped off... especially when talking about this much money. I am not associated with any distributor in any way, and am just sharing the emails I received. Almost all distributors have a phone number or a website you can work through.

Personally I say its cheaper to put a 10" display in that area instead of a larger mechanical mech. Take the entire Wonkavator ball lock mech in Wonka and replace it with a 10" screen. Which would be cheaper to put in the game? The screen. Which is more like pinball? The actual mech. Which would pinball players prefer? The mech. I'm not against mini LCD displays in pinball machines but this is a bit ridiculous considering there's a 27" backbox LCD...

So, they shouldn't price the CEs at $19.5k then?

CEs will be $13 - $15k secondary market for a LONG LONG time. But I'm sure we'll see someone try to flip one soon for $17k. Fun times.

That ipad is a hard pause for me. It literally blocks about 1/4 of the playfield.

#3071 1 year ago
Quoted from yancy:

Don't worry manly man, you get to hit the pop-up girl in the face with your balls. No one's gonna confiscate your muscle car.

If your masculinity is that fragile, you have bigger (or smaller) problems than Little Bo Peep.

Not masculinity...Just a shit theme for anyone that doesn't have Young kids in house.

JJP thinks there is still a huge pinball market for operators out there...Remember that's how He started in the biz.

Great pin for Chuck E. Cheese. Probably where You eat lunch every day.

For what You'd pay for a TS4 CE You can buy a Godzilla LE and have a #1 pin.

Basically it’s a carnival game with a toy story theme. I’m underwhelmed. I thought this might be my first NIB game but 12k for an LE. Not a chance.

Don’t think anyone is saying anything about gameplay other than waiting to see how it shoots, peoples complaints are with regards to the aesthetics, mechs or lack of, underwhelming theme integration.

#3080 1 year ago
Quoted from zaphX:

[quoted image]

that’s the problem there is no gameplay. Some of the disappointment could be overlooked a bit if the gameplay shots and geometry looked good. There is no way to definitely say that with a crappy 30 second video

#3081 1 year ago

Being 7 years in the making and TS4 coming out in 2019, it was almost assuredly thought that this would release to coincide with the movie (or shortly thereafter), which would explain why it's limited to this one movie only (Disney was probably shopping around TS4 licensing rights about that time)

The only thing I'm confused about is what got this particular game delayed so long?

My guess is you'll see CE spots on the market place soon! GNR LE at release was $9.5K (ended at $11K)....I think JJP has priced themselves out of the market

That's probably going to happen if Stern ever makes Back to the Future. 88 Super LE's at $20k or something.

At the risk of sounding harsh, its probably because boomer Pat thinks kids love these newfangled tablets and cell phones (Same reason he thought dialed in was an amazing theme), they're gonna be lining up in the arcades to play this game now because they love tablets so much and look theres a tablet right in it!

Judgement cast without even seeing gameplay much less trying it.

I guess the diorama crowd is disappointed.

I hope so! Definitely got our moneys worth on Wonka.

#3096 1 year ago

I’m wondering if that big screen was meant to be an Etcha Sketch but the license deal changed during development or JJP didn’t want to pay extra licensing. The flat angle and dimensions seem to fit.

#3097 1 year ago

Halloween also “sold out” within an hour or 2. Time will tell how this one settles. It would be healthy for the hobby if this thing flops IMO. This pricing is out of control and the practice of hiding the ball and forcing non refundable deposits is horrible. Besides the topper I don’t see where the value is in the CE…GNR CE is way more distinctive.

Wonka looked like a dud at first, but shot like a dream; I love that pin.

I just am shocked by the TS4 theme, who knows, maybe it does shoot great, but why aren't they letting us see it???
