Quoted from Dr-pin:

That thread is close to dead to.

What do you want people to talk about? The code is pretty much complete and there are few issues with the game mechanically. Those two topics are most of what people tend to discuss. The theme turned quite a few people off as did the price. My guess is that given those two factors, there aren’t that many people that own the game and so participation in an owners thread will be lower. Personally, I owned an LE and really liked it, but for business reasons, I had to sell it

So. Few have it and not much to talk about.
Isn´t that pretty much a disaster, esp considering the anticipation beforehand.

Folks have moved on looks like. Shinier toys better priced. JJP got locked into one movie and tried to out scalp the scalpers and everyone lost.

Plus, TS4 is sooo boring to me. I don't get feelings of excitement or any kind of rush playing it. Like it's not a terrible game, it's just so blah. And the music JJP chose does not help in that department.

#6005 12 months ago

JJP said Wonka code was done and then came out with a big update and it made the game a lot more fun to play
..maybe the same with happen with Ts

It was a polish update, but didn't add any modes or wizard modes. TS4 needs to add more modes, so you don't just repeat the same handful of things twice to get to the "final" wizard mode, which is also the same as the first wizard mode.

Quoted from Dr-pin:

I think pinball buyers can bare with high prices, but it has to come with the feeling that the game and what´s in there must motivate it.

It's okay to pass on a game due to theme, collection balance, cost, whatever.....
But saying Toy Story is empty relative to other games is not rational. It's an emotional response or self-justification for missing out.

I´ve never said it was empty, there is just nothing new and exciting in it.
Most people was probably hoping for toys in a toy story pin.

Playfield looks empty.

#6010 12 months ago

Oh darned.
Well you get an a for effort.
Im truuly disapointed though.
Jjp imo is moving in the wrong direction.
Gnr managed to salvage due to assets, creativity and artistic expression.
This is just blah.
With the amount of talent and time on each game i expect a lot better.

This for me is a poor pinball year. The only game standing out is godzilla, which looks spectacular, but the theme gives me nothing. Going to call örebro about getting an alien.

Wasn't Godzilla last year? I seem to remember it winning several TWIPYs.

Yeah. Last year. This year has been rough. I think Rush is the only one I was impressed with (minus the artwork and absurd scoop issues). Was that this year?

I am very happy with the game. For me it shoots slightly better than Wonka and equal to Dialed in and TS4 is more fun to play than those two. My son is a good player and can put up a B on Godzilla. He prefers our TS4 to Godzilla, Wonka, Deadpool, Big Lebowski and Rick and Morty.

I don't need new with a particular pin. I need fun. I need theme integration. I need smooth shots. Oh and I need fun. This pin started out slow for me and then opened up around play 30-40. I am now over 150 games and it gets the most play in the house. Supremely underrated for me as I prefer it to Wonka and Dialed In.

Good to hear you are enjoying it.
That's the most important thing.
I was hoping for something really amazing, esp considering where the price ends up here in europe.

I hear you. I am not disputing that the price is maybe high for a new machine. On any given game, I expect to lose 10-15%. Have been pleasantly surprised recently, but this one may lose some value.

I really enjoy TS4, have had a chance to own all the other JJPs. My order is 1.) Wonka 2.) Hobbit 3.) WOZ 4.) Dialed In 5.) GNR 6.) POTC
Still in honeymoon with TS4, but it's definitely better than Dialed In, GNR and POTC for me. I like it equal to Wonka right now.

I have to say, it is WAY more fun than I thought. Getting my own hands on it to tune the flipper power and level it combined with not having to wait forever at a pinball show is all the difference in the world.

My initial reaction is that the hate for the game itself is based on the price (which, yes, does absolutely suck) and ppl be lettin’ dat bleed into dey opinyun.

I’m shocked at how much I want to play again tbh.

We’ll see how it earns! We’ve always thought it would be a killer theme for earnings as we get decent kids traffic on weekends and regulars have been clamoring for the subtle variety that JJP brings.

TLDR:
Gabby’s ugly and I want to bash her face in.

I'm really glad you're enjoying it!

The price hikes (all manufacturers) have soured me substantially on NIB pinball.
It brings me no joy to say this.

Thanks! I might just do that. I hate location pinball - something is always broken or dirty - but personal collections tend to be good experiences.

The main complaint is not that this isn’t “fun” or “attractive” to kids….it is that people are getting thru to the main Wizard mode far too quickly and there is virtually no difference between completing the game with Buzz or Woody…so not much incentive to keep playing in the long run…

Those comments are ridiculous. The current code is fantastic and feels like a well-tuned Bally Williams game with more depth and greater variety of stuff to do. I happen to think the default (normal) difficulty is just about perfect. The .01% of players who feel they are "too good" can INCREASE THE DIFFICULTY. The 'factory' difficulty settings exist precisely for this reason. Complaining about default settings IN YOUR HOME is goofy.

It’s a really really good game. Some great shots, broad and semi deep code (at basically 1.0 at release even if things could evolve/grow), great theme (for many not all), great approachability, solid theme integration, great light show/presentation (topper very well done), … ok so hard to ignore price but if you judge without price then it’s honestly a stretch to attack this pin.

That’s an overblown statement IMHO. We are a household of above average players and we haven’t reached the wizard in 200 plays. I am not an advanced player but I have reached Pure Imagination on Wonka, scored 3B on Godzilla, 104M on GNR and 90M on RIck and Morty. Then again, reaching a wizard mode doesn’t ruin a fun game for me.

Thanks for that reference. If you’re capable of 3B on GZ, 100M on GNR and 90 on RM, and haven’t reached TS4 Wizard in 200 plays then I’m feeling pretty good about TS4 difficulty overall.

To each to their own. Glad many are playing TS4 and enjoying the game. It’s a fun pin and if I had ample room I would have kept my order.

The main objective is that the machine gets played. I’ll be going back to a location that has TS4.

For those who had played enough TS4 and Wonka, how similar are the shots to one another?

Wonder the same myself. I’m interested in both wonka and ts. How easy is wonka to understand for casual guests? Is one more fun than the other?

TS4 has some easy shots (left and right ramps) to start modes so easy to learn and have fun and progress a little. Key word is a little. Can’t progress too far on the wide shots. Wonka is a harder game to get into and have fun with. Ultimately, wonka is probably my favorite pin (along with GZ and JP), I like hard pins. TS4 is great and has something for everybody, but what makes it different is that it’s easy to get into and if you’re no psycho about pinball like most of us you can feel like you’re doing things. I haven’t played through it, been to the wizard mode probably 5 or 6 times in 300 plays (my best on GZ is just under 4b and on JP around 2b, getting to the visitors center regularly, so I’m not a pro but I don’t suck). All these haters posting about how easy it is since a pro walked through it in a video are absurd. From a difficulty standpoint it’s way harder than MM, AFM, TOM, MB, and all those B/W so anybody that doesn’t like this for being too easy isn’t allowed to like those games either!

Own them both. TS4 shoots smoother than Wonka for me and we also slightly prefer the TS4 theme. TS4 for me shoots similar to how Dialed In shot. Also, strangely, I didn’t connect with TS4 until about 30 games in.

Now that you mention it, there are a few similar TS4 and Wonka shots. Upper flipper shot to Wonkavator and Baby flipper to Bo Peep resemble one another. Also kid multiball and Road-trip lock feel similar. Captive ball shot in similar place. Scoop in similar place to Gobstopper. Gabby Gabby and Duke unique. I also find the left outlane more punishing on TS4 than Wonka but perhaps that could be just how my machine came. Finally, the whole family enjoys the carnival games despite “$30 IPad instead of incredible mech” gate. Tiki party is a favorite. It’s easy to get multiball but it’s fun to play.

Anyway, just pleasantly surprised given what I read on Pinside. I am happy to sit this one next to Godzilla and Rick and Morty. I am conflicted with reading Pinside for reviews without playing. For Godzilla, it thankfully alerted me to a GOAT machine. For Deadpool, I just don’t connect with it and wish I played before buying. For Rick and Morty, I find it to be a top machine if properly dialed in. Finally, with TS4, I am super pleased despite the reviews/comments.

Having played both, I find Wonka to be quite a bit more satisfying to shoot.

Walt is a highly ranked competitive player. Should he be able to beat it that quick? I don’t know. Just commenting that he isn’t an average or even above average player. He is a great player.

Finally played the game at a local arcade with a buddy in Eugene, and it seems pretty easy. I had to let the first ball drain at 10M, because a private party arrived and they had to kick us out. So I still haven't played a full game!

Sounds like you are an expert or had a very lucky game. Line up 100 people and maybe one does what you did. Congrats though!

Probably just lucky. I try to set up games at home to be difficult, so on location it was perhaps not dialed.

My guess is many distributors are stuck with a lot of inventory (which sucks for them)... you'll probably start seeing discounts around the holidays as most will want to get off the books by years end

How far do we think the Ce's will fall in pricing? Seem's like a lot of Le's or C'e's for sale .

#6045 11 months ago

Currently more CEs for sale than LEs. Odd.

Quoted from Flipper_McGavin:

Timing...

CEs are getting delivered now so those who want out are selling now... LE buyers who wanted out were delivered earlier and hence were selling earlier.

Wrong spot but I’ll throw out an answer. Loosen up the ramp screws on the side rails and see it it drops down, your post is likely rubbing on the one side of the hole it pops through.
