Quoted from jwilson:Collectors seem to fall into two camps - the ones who collect for the gameplay and the ones who collect for the experience. Gameplay collectors are more interested in nuances of the machine itself, like unique shots, lamp shows and music integration, specific software setups that aid in the depth of gameplay. Experience collectors are more into the theme and it's integration into the game, playfield toys that add to the immersion and other audio-visual tie ins that trigger the connection to the theme overall. Actual gameplay at a pure pinball level is secondary to the "world under glass" nature of a machine.
That's a great point, I find myself liking both camps and could go either way depending on the pin, but finding pins that satisfy both makes it a home run.
