Quoted from RichieWrench:

If I am correct I think it was limited to 200....Am I correct on that?

No. CE was cut off Dec. 31st at midnight EST. So no way of knowing how many were sold.

LTG : )

#310 6 years ago
Quoted from Ericpinballfan:

Lloyd, think your wrong for once, or the first time. That was Dialed In midnight thingy, its 200 CE's confirmed for JJPOTCCE.

You are right. 200 POTC CE's.

I thought this thread had drifted into a Dialed In discussion. Sorry.

Quoted from JoinTheCirqus:

Going from a 3 disc spinner full of variables and leds down to 1 plain spinner is a total downgrade.

The 3 disc is now doing the variables on the screen. And the three ring spinner replaced with a single spinner. Which throws the ball quite nicely. Something the three didn't do a good job of.

You haven't lost anything.

LTG : )

#362 5 years ago

I didn't deny anything.

Quoted from JoinTheCirqus:

The 3 ring spinner on the playfield is easier for the player to see while they’re playing,

You didn't say anything about seeing it until now. Three feet away from the playing position looking at the playfield, or watching the screen. Fact or not, doesn't seem like a lot of difference to me. You have ball(s) running around and yet you have time to concentrate on the 3 rings or LCD, what they are doing ? I'd think you'd be going for your next shot. If you have time to look down and read, you have time to look up and read.

Quoted from JoinTheCirqus:

How about the loss of the chest as well?

You are of course correct. The lid is now fixed open. What a great tragedy. First thing I think of when I played it. Looking back there. Crap, is that lid up or down ? That could greatly alter whether I win a game or not. Damn. Heck, I might not even match now.

LTG : )

#365 5 years ago
Quoted from DerGoetz:

But reading your last two comments makes me wonder whether you had a few beers tonight.

No beer. After 12 plus hours of working my arcade and tech support, I do get in a jollier mood. Anything worth doing is worth having some fun.

LTG : )

#367 5 years ago
Quoted from Mike_J:

Are you dropping 10K-12K on one of these machines?

Folks spending that much cash on a pinball machine tend to be somewhat picky.

No, and yes.

When you consider the amount of time I put in doing tech support, I'll have way more than that in the game.

LTG : )

#369 5 years ago
Quoted from Mike_J:

but it would appear someone should be writing you a check for at least some of your time.

No. I don't do good with a boss. I only did that once. Though I did get to run a foreman up a forklift and left him up there.

This morning I already spent an hour on the phone with a person having an LED board issue on a WOZ. Person was the problem, not the LED board. About 30 minutes into one of these you start going cross eyed and lose a lot of IQ points. You couldn't pay me for this crap. There ain't enough money out there.

The companies I work for I tell them. Let me know what you want done. Consider it done. Leave me alone.

I'm just doing what I've always done. Trying to make my little corner of pinball a little bit better and enable people to enjoy their games more.

Quoted from tacshose:

Sorry, not to be personal, but JJP does not pay you for providing tech support to their customers?

No. That was my decision, not Jack's. Or Rick's. Or anybody else I may help in the future.

I knew from the previous 17 years at that time when Jack hired me, helping people on line, there isn't enough money available to do that. After an hour explaining why you can't put 10 balls in a 5 ball game or you can't cut circuit boards in half. You haven't lived until you answer that phone. You couldn't pay me to do that. I knew what I would be getting myself into back then and what I do hasn't changed. Let me know what you want done. Consider it done.

All I've ever wanted was to make my little corner of pinball a little bit better.

LTG : )

#385 5 years ago
Quoted from Ericpinballfan:

Wait one minute. I cant cut a circuit board in half?

You can. Just not a great idea.

Charlie of Spooky Pinball asked me about that one. He asked me, "They do that", "Why?"

I told him, "You don't want to know". I never ask how we got to that point. I don't want to know why or what their thinking was. I just try to get their game going again as fast as possible.

LTG : )
Disclaimer : Tech support. It's not a job. It's an adventure.

#403 5 years ago
Quoted from dashv:

The new spinner has none of the charm or awe of the triple. That was the main draw for me.

The triple spinner is done on the screen now.

The single spinner works great and actually flings the ball. The three ring version didn't have enough surface area on any one ring to really effect the ball. Watch videos of it, the ball pretty much rolls across it.

Play the production model if you can. Then decide. It's proving to be a great pin.

LTG : )

#408 5 years ago
Quoted from Reznnate:

The passive aggressive "not buying with only one disc" comments are funny to me, although I'm sure they do hurt/bother/annoy the intended JJP employee audience.

If you mean me, it doesn't bother me at all. Especially for dashv, since he's thinking of buying a Hobbit instead. Pirates and Hobbit are both JJP pins.

Like any pin, JJP or other manufacturer, I've always encouraged people to play them and get the one they like. They are the ones that have to live with their decision. Don't rule a game out until you play it and decide.

Not to mention if down the road I ever give them tech help, I'd much rather help a person who is happy with their purchase than sorry they ever got it.

Quoted from Ilushka85:

if i bend the leaf part of the switch it makes contact but then it does not push the leaf far enough down to hit the red part of the actual switch.

Bend it past the part that pushes the small knob into the switch body. So you don't effect that.

Quoted from KingPinGames:

How do you spell Eric's last name?

Same as yours. Mueneir.

#734 5 years ago
Quoted from Furio:

1. center button:

On my game, I held the switch arm down and a tiny bit past the point where the knob goes into the switch body, bent the arm up. A blob of hot glue on the end of the button makes a wider surface to engage the switch arm and not stick on it.

Quoted from Furio:

2. The shooter rod cannot launch the ball at all.

Assuming the playfield hangers aren't bent and playfield is in the right position, check between the shooter knob and shooter housing, any fat washers, remove some so the shooter rod is closer to the ball.

Quoted from Furio:

3. Test game launches the ball into the pearl and the ball can not leave the ship through the drain out due to the ship being set lower than the exit ramp.

Right side of the ramp/ship, below the spotlight is a screw through the metal ramp into a rubber grommet into a hex post. Screw that screw in more squeezing the rubber grommet so the ramp leans to the right.

Quoted from Furio:

The ship rocks during game play but it seems less than videos I have seen.

The ships rocks a lot more the farther into a game you progress.

Quoted from Furio:

Main set of keys didn’t work to open the top. I think the are on the inside of the door

Main keys are for coin door. Backbox lock key is hanging inside the coin door on a hook.

Quoted from Furio:

Quoted from Genjuro:

the noise that is present from the gearbox on the motor.

This is what I would try. ( They won't give me one for tech support so I can't experiment ) The flat surface of the cam, a very thin line of grease on it. The roller thing it pushes, a drop of oil on each side where it rolls on an axle.

Past that I'd check other surfaces that are binding or adding to the noise. Might be a bit of work and digging into it. I do believe it can be reduced.

Quoted from whitey:

My
GI,s are out and the lights stop 3/4
Of the way down on the playfield?

This should help you :

Please check out page C-54 in the manual ( you can download it at jerseyjackpinball.com ) that page shows the data harness path. From W6 to #29, to #1, to #2, to #3, etc. etc.

Please go into Tests - LEDs - All LEDs, this turns any working all white. Lift playfield and lean on backbox. You can see the working ones kind of glow.

They are wired in series, a straight line. Find the last working one, the one after it that is out is the bad one. With the power on, you can by pass the data harnesses on the LED boards, bypass the bad one, and turn off in settings. ( be sure and turn it back on when you replace it ) this will help you identify a bad one.

As an example, say #15 was out. You can run the data harness from red on W2, to green on #16 instead of #15. If the rest light up, you know #15 is the bad one.

With the power on you can move data harnesses. They go red to green from board to board. Don't mess with the power connectors with the power on.

Quoted from whitey:

Happy to pay ya !

I'll be right over.

LTG : )
Disclaimer : Just kidding. Tech support late needs a little humor.

#928 5 years ago
Quoted from Cgpinhead:

Any advice on how to adjust

See the red arrow pointing to the red screw ? Tighten it down and squish the rubber grommet it goes through to lower the ramp so it leans to the right.
