Quoted from Hogbog:

Hey friends-
If you're coming to Chicago Pinball Expo this weekend, come say hi. If you have a Pirates already, or one on order, let me know. I'll have a little something special for you if we meet in person.
Cheers,
Eric

Dang Eric. I was at expo and just read your post. I have a JJPOTC LE on order.
Can’t wait to get my machine!

Quoted from NickBuffaloPinball:

I was wondering the same thing, as that's how it looks on mine...

Could be an artistic effect?

Just got word mine will be shipped this week!!

#572 5 years ago

Just arrived! Now I have to wait until tomorrow to set it up. Been raining here and I need to dolly it around to the basement. Wish me luck! If I have issues I’ll be sure to ask for help from this great community! You all are awesome!

Quoted from tonycip:

I just got mine in the game room. Heads up try to put the leg bolts in first and make sure they thread in .I also had one, back right. that would not go in due to the grounding braid being in the way, I tried to poke it out of the way with a screw driver but that didn't work. I was frantically trying to clear the hole while my buddy was holding it up.. I had to run a tap through it before it would screw in.
I also see the spinning disc is not centered in the hole or level.(as someone else mentioned ). that's all the time I had for now.

Thanks for the info. I’ll keep you posted.

#591 5 years ago

4 out of 8 bolts won’t go in. All the back leg bolts won’t even start to thread. Seriously JJP?

So..... I’m now the owner of a tap and die set. $40 later.

THANK YOU ALL for the heads up to try to thread them first!!

Front legs on. Waiting for friends to lift to put back legs on.

In the meantime, I have a bag of what looks like extra plastics and play field protectors. Is that correct? Will I need to install the protectors or are they extra?

#596 5 years ago

Up and running! The back box monitor was unplugged. Got that fixed. I think I’m good to go! (For now)

Curious, what is that on the glass in the upper left? Looks like a plaque?

LOL. I just stuck one of the pricing cards up there to cover the red white and blue made in USA stickers that’s on the glass.

#599 5 years ago

Did anyone have missing screws for the topper? The instructions seem to indicate there should be screws in the rail that holds the topper. I also had no screws in the parts box.

#600 5 years ago

The 2x post is up against the metal behind it. Is that normal?

DFCBA84E-37E8-4DE9-867A-38DC27F8F610 (resized).jpegDFCBA84E-37E8-4DE9-867A-38DC27F8F610 (resized).jpeg

Quoted from BrianBannon:

Is it a threading problem, or a braid blocking problem?

I looked inside with a light and nothing was obstructing. I had to re-tap 3 of the holes so that the bolts would go in. I originally couldn't get in 4 bolts, however, the 4th one I was finally able to get in after I removed the protective metal plate on the corner. The correct angle for the threading was off and removing the plate allowed just enough to get the bolt to thread. Hogbog I'd suggest that manufacturing attempt to run the bolts in on ALL units before they are boxed (with the protective plate on).

It was a bit frustrating to have to deal with something so simple.

I do have to say this to JJP... This is an absolutely amazing and beautiful machine!! If I had the money, I would buy a WOZ and DI I'm saving my money for the next JJP release.

#613 5 years ago

LTG Sorry I don't remember, but I believe there was a discussion about something causing the score to increment 30 points when the flippers flip. I have that issue. Just flipping before the ball is launched gains 30 points. I'm assuming that is the case while playing as well. How is that fixed?

#616 5 years ago
Quoted from LTG:

Please go into Tests - Switches - Matrixed, bang on playfield. Adjust any switch reporting on the screen that vibration triggers.
LTG : )

Well then there's that. LOL. Sometimes the simplest approach is all you need. I'll advise once I get that done. Thanks!

#618 5 years ago
Quoted from Ramjet:

Wow, there seems to be a lot of problems right out of the box. I had my check ready to mail out to my distributor yesterday but I didn't. Unfortunately I'm going to wait until they get a handle on all these issues on the assembly line.

I've had a couple issues, including the leg bolts which were admittedly a bit frustrating, HOWEVER, I would do it all again! You will not regret having this great machine. Please see the Top 100. I just checked, JJPOTC is now #2 of all time! (only down by .001). I predict it will be #1 soon. As I stated in a previous post, I can't wait for the next JJP release. That's my 2 cents, but obviously it's your money.

LTG : )

It was the Chapter Select Right Rubber #57 switch. I made an adjustment to that. All good now.

I also had to trim the top off of the Upper Slingshot Low switch. It was stuck under the plastic ramp. See attached before and after trimming pictures. The metal was at an angle. If it was flipped it would have matched the ramp angle. @LTG I don’t know if the angle is intended or not. If it is. Then it is backwards.

LTG one more question... is it normal for the #70 opto to always be active?

Quoted from Psw757:

Well, if your saying a hard copy was included in every game I definitely didn’t get it. Where would this be located? It wasn’t with any of the paperwork or LE certificate.
I’d like to hang it on the wall for guests.

I downloaded the rules chart from JJP website. You can find in the shopping section. See images attached.

I printed a large 11x17 image and had it laminated. I purchased a frame and matte to hang on the wall. BTW, I was able to get Jersey Jack to sign it at EXPO.

Quoted from circuscinema:

Hi everyone. I have got my Pirates of Caribbean LE six days ago. And we have put it in our Cinema/ Game room.
I love every pinball game that has been made by Jersey Jack Pinball.
I haven’t played many games onit, but I love it already.
I have a question for you all.
What are you all doing when you have unpacked your NIB pinball game?
Do you do something more that set the angle and cleaning the balls?
It’s there any people that are doing a cleaning and waxing on your NIB pinball game?
Have you any tips on settings for coils and etc? I think it’s hard shooting up the ramp to the mini of on the boat.[quoted image]

I did increase to strength of the launcher and flippers slightly. For some reason my flippers were set below the default indicated in the manual.

#670 5 years ago
Quoted from Psw757:

Speaking of leveling. You all using the level or the app? When using the bubble on mine the app tells me it’s at 7.6 and seems really steep.

Instructions say to put top of bubble on second from bottom line.

#671 5 years ago
Quoted from FightNightFZ:

Ok my LE gets here on Wednesday, is there a list of problems people have been getting out of the box and the fixes? I’ve seen a lot on the various pages but it’s hard to search for everything.

Before attempting to put legs on, makes sure ALL 8 leg bolts will go in!

Play a few games and then check the switch matrix for any potential issues.

Post any issues here. Great group of people who helped me out a lot. LTG is awesome!

Oh... Enjoy the game!

Quoted from VividPsychosis:

2. My topper does not light up. Traced the wires back and it’s plugged in and reseated. Still nothing.

Do you have a volt meter to check voltage? If you have voltage at the source, my guess would be the crimp on the LED strip. See photo.

Quoted from arcadem:

Thanks. Sure hope that they decide to offer a print version eventually. Their manuals really set JJP apart from the other pin manufacturers. Heck, I 'd even be willing to buy one if need be but I hope 9500 is more than enough to merit inclusion of one.

I put everything for a single pin in a 3 ring binder. So printing works for me. I’d rather they not include a manual and change the price to $9,400. Lol

#750 5 years ago

My ship stopped rocking this evening.
Only been playing for 4 days. Guess I’ll have a repair project for the weekend.

#770 5 years ago
Quoted from VividPsychosis:

Now if I can address the flipper, game will be back to 99% minus the led strip on the topper which doesn’t work.

Did you ever check the voltage? Do you have a volt meter/multi-meter? Also, i didn't look at mine, but is the connector reversable? LEDs are diodes and only work one way.

#772 5 years ago
Quoted from LTG:

Look at the rear if the two metal screws fell out of the part that hooks the motor to the ship.
LTG : )

LTG
Connected just fine. Not that it matters in this case, but should the large foam block be removed? Looks like it is a buffer between the back of the cabinet and the play field when sliding it back.

Also tested voltage to the motor. Nothing. In ship test mode with coin door closed.

LTG OK. Not sure what’s going on. I moved the motor a bit and then it started moving back and forth. I ran it for a couple minutes. Then it started slowing down gradually until it stopped again. I moved some of the bundle of wires going down the play field and started the motor again. So far it is working again.
How long should I run it in test mode without damaging the motor? Any other suggestions?

Got my highest score ever after all this. 531,739.

#778 5 years ago
Quoted from LTG:

I wouldn't run it long, won't damage anything. Not necessary.
Somewhere in the bundle of wires or what they connect to, you have a loose connection. If problem returns, please check all from under playfield to I/O board and see if any are loose. Give them all a good push.
LTG : )

Why would it slow down little by little and then stop?

#852 5 years ago
Quoted from LTG:

There is a screw in front of the hex post below the spot light on the right top side of the ramp. It runs through a rubber grommet. Turn it tighter to lower the ramp to the right so the ball rolls off the gate.
LTG : )

LTG
Can you post a picture please. I’m not finding what you are referring to.

LTG I’m not finding this.
Can you send a pic?

#856 5 years ago
Quoted from LTG:

White X is the boat. Orange arrow and X is the metal bracket hooked to the ramp. Red arrow points to screw to screw up or down as needed. Yellow is rubber grommet you squish or unsquish as needed. Green arrow is hex post the rubber grommet rests on and the screw goes through the rubber grommet into the hex post.
LTG : )
[quoted image]

Awesome! Working great now. Thanks

#971 5 years ago
Quoted from Psw757:

Well, I solved the switch 21 low stuck closed issue. The switch was wedged under the ramp in the closed position. I’m thinking a hard hit off the pops may have caused this so this will be something for everyone to keep an eye on.
Now can anyone tell what this white plastic thing is under the ramp between the upper/lower 21 switches is?
[quoted image]

Psw757
You can look at my previous post. I had the same issue. I had to trim the top of the switch off a bit to keep it from getting stuck under the ramp. It also was scratching the ramp. The angle of the top of the metal looked backwards on mine.

#973 5 years ago
Quoted from WolfManCat:

I have two questions-
Am I missing a rubber grommet in this photo?
Second question. Does the license that JJP acquired limit what can be shown from the movies? As many have pointed out this titles movie clips are pale in comparison to Hobbit or WOZ.
[quoted image]

Mine was the same. There was a second rubber ring in the extra parts bag. I put on the inside post to make saving easier. Also, I would not remove the outer post rubber as the ball will hit hard on the post when launched.

#974 5 years ago
Quoted from Psw757:

Thanks, I didn’t cut the switch but I put a slight bend in it and it worked.

Ok. Just check it once in a while to see if it gets stuck under the ramp again.

If I install version .97, does that reset high scores? My daughter and I have a competition and don’t want to lose the current scores.

#1805 5 years ago
Quoted from dnaman:

Yes, upgrades will wipe scores. Connect a USB thumb drive and use the backup utility in the setup (utility) menu. It will also save your game settings etc...

Does that also save high scores?

@yelobird Here’s a mod to your disk silencer mod I purchased.
I added strips of window insulation strip between the spinner mounts and the board. A little more silencing AND it let me level the disk on all four sides by tightening screws more or less on each side of the mount! The insulation will squish like a washer, but more or less depending on how tight you screw in the screws. I had problems getting all the sides to level at once, not any more.

Now... heading to your site to order Jack!

Quoted from KirboTurbo:

I've had my game for about a week now. I absolutely love it. What a great game! I've had just a few of the minor issues that others have also had. Thanks to everyone for your great tips. I'm certainly not a handyman, but I've learned a lot from all the great people on pinside.
My biggest complaint is that i might not be in good enough shape to play this game. I strained my back trying to save the ball from draining down the outlanes. I'm serious. Curious if anyone else has had this happen? My wife was like, "what's wrong with your back?" Me, "oh, strained it playing Pirates". She just shook her head.

I had a similar problem... I have a bad shoulder. I played with a friend for 4 hours straight, slapping the machine to save the ball. I honestly could not raise my arm AT ALL for 2 days! It took about a week to be able to raise my arm above my shoulder! This pin is really heavy and I’m getting old.
