Just put a deposit on an LE to join the club. Played for the first time last night. Crazy deep game. My brain exploded. But if nothing else, I always went back to the canon shot... What a great toy!

Yikes! Putting a cutout in the guide at ball height is a fail of pinball 101! Have you run a ball over it by hand to see if it connects?

Just moving the pin may settle the gaps differently. You’ll probably get it in there. But I would definitely invest in the blade protectors from pbl

Well I’m in the club. Sadly, some shipping damage. Anyone have any thoughts as to how to clean this up?

Worst experience over had with Beltmann (formerly navl). No blanket wrap under the shrink wrap. No corner protection. I’m kinda helpless I imagine because my daughter signed for it when I wasn’t home to inspect.

So my disk started being really loud and seems to be “detached” from the motor (spins up, but slightly delayed from the sound of the motor running). I’m going to start investigating but wondering if anyone has any quick tips.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you all know about a little audio experiment I just embarked on with my friend Dan @pinwoofer

We added an amplifier to the backbox speakers and a separate amp and 8” sub to replace the existing sub. It made a huge difference. I always thought the sound was pretty decent on jjpotc but this is amazing. Definitely hearing a lot more range and sounds I didn’t know were in there. With two amps it really allows you to balance out the sounds to your liking. The bass is shaking the room. Dan was kind enough to come help me install as it was my first jjp to try one of his kits. Can’t say enough good things about his products and service.

Those pics are my pin and I LOVE the sound. I haven’t worried about shorts on the board mounted where it is. The board is isolated from the rest of the system (correct me if I’m wrong, Dan) and if it killed the board it would be easily resolved. It has standoffs so other than a direct hit from above, it would be fine.

But back to the topic, the sound is incredible. I was shocked that without replacing the stock speakers, just adding the amp, the range on the high end was so much better. And clearer. It’s made my favorite pin even better. Highly recommend. And the bass, of course, is incredible. Comparable to an external sub (I have a polk 10” sitting unused now).

So I thought I’d post a game I had tonight. Just tried to see if the main super wizard mode is a reality for me. So I played as Elizabeth swan. Basically I just mode start and timed out. Shot mode start again and timed out. In regaining control of the ball each time, I managed to get all the multiballs played at one point or another.

Bottom line, I got all chapters played. All Five wizard modes lit and three played. Drained my last ball playing one of the wizard modes.

Seems like cheating somewhat, but I have standard outline posts and set to four balls. Everything else is standard, I think.

Do you think the main wizard mode will be qualified just by playing all five minis or will there be more?

This is the sleeve I put on mine. You have to take the Black Pearl off to get at it but it's a great idea to do it to prevent balls sticking between the sling post and the star map entry post and to prevent wear on the sling rubber. (note you don't have to dremel the post to make it work).

I definitely understand your hesitation. I used to feel the exact same way about taking the ship off. But now I’ve done it 3 or 4 times in the past couple months for various things and it isn’t that bad anymore. The tricky part is still getting the eyelets lined up when putting it back on, but even that goes a little smoother with practice.

Yeah. It would be my first time. And it’s all running so well right now I just don’t want to poke the bear!!

I like your idea of having it on hand. Did you say a new post is necessary? I missed that. I thought it was just the rubber sleeve?

So I did a little searching but couldn’t find what I’m looking for.

I’m helping a friend open the last LE out of Australia and a little worried about the unboxing and tuning (mine was used and already tuned). Anyone have a best practices list or flowchart for setting up a new potc? I assume this was built later in the run but I don’t know that for sure. Should I be worried about QC and having to fix a bunch of stuff right away? I have a set of cliffys. Are all of them 100% necessary? Are they hard to install? Etc.

Advice please.

I had to fiddle with hitting a bunch more shots before the inner loop finally advanced the MB to the last step. It might have been that all other main shots needed to be hit before advancing that last step though the inner loop, but I'm not sure.

This is great investigation. I need more info. Code seems iffy here.

Anyone know the part number to the set screw that holds the gear to the motor shaft that turns the disc? I’ve had to tighten mine a million times, so finally I used loctite but it’s now spinning on the shaft again! I don’t think I can back it out or advance it at this point. If I’m seeing correctly there is another screw hole I could use if I can get a new screw? Any advice would be appreciated.

They have by design (2) set screws in place to bit the shaft from both sides so it does not spin on the shaft. If you use both my guess is you will have no issues.

I’m just throwing this out there, but I wrinkled my cabinet decal on the right side of the head. I want to get a new one but i hate have four others wasted. Does anyone need any of the others so maybe I can split the cost with someone? It’s only $99 plus shipping for the whole set, so I’ll probably just pull the trigger.

Fantastic work! If it could be manipulated like pinsound that would be amazing. I’m thinking of folders for a specific game action that will call a random audio sample out of a given folder. Endprodukt made an amazing Indiana Jones mix with some original assets. It never gets old because for any given game action, there might be five audio samples that could be called randomly.

So I’m doing a little touch up on my LE. Anyone know where I can get the t-mounding for this pin? Mine got a little dinged up in transit. Also, there are little chips in the powder coat on the rails right where the top of the head hits when folded. Anyone know a reasonable patch for that?

Yeah, check your level but drains from the mode start (star map?) is a very common complaint. We are all expecting a ball save coming out of there in the next software update.

Tortuga you could check the angle of the scoop or change power settings. There’s a whole thread dedicated to troubleshooting this pin. Look for it. Its well indexed so you can usually find references to any problems that come up.

Ball save on sdtm from the mode start is a MUST. And so easy they could implement that in 5 minutes and put out a partial release. It’s a real buzzkill when it happens. Ruins an otherwise good game.

Another wild speculation:

Maybe they’re remaking a non-licensed version of the game and the code is being overhauled with generic pirate character replacements.

I suggested that idea to the warranty parts guy a couple weeks ago and he thought it was a great idea and said he was going to send it up to the management. I couldn’t believe that a non-licensed retheme hadn’t at least been batted around JJP. I’m sure I wasn’t the originator of that idea. I think it was mentioned in this thread a couple times.

I understand they've supported all their other games and continue to do so. In my prior post I looked at the data confirming that. For me, it's not about wanting a sense of urgency on POTC. I think it's about there being a sense that this thing just isn't coming because it isn't important to them at all, and that's due to their lack of any positive communication about it since May 2019.
I'd think if it were important to them to update the POTC code and there was some outside reason it's taken so long, they could drop some sort of hint saying something like "Hey we just want to let you all know it's important to us to get it done and we're working through it (wink, wink)." Just have some sort of communication at all that gives assurance or even hope that it's important to them.
To me it says a lot about JJP that Stern, Spooky, and AP are all pretty active in their game threads communicating with their customers about code bugs and updates that are in the works. Somehow those companies don't seem to have any problem with interaction but JJP just sits radio silent on POTC, and that gives me no confidence POTC is important at all to them. The designer saying on stream it won't be released until the wizard mode is done and apparently the programmer saying or implying that most people can't get to the wizard mode anyway just tells me as a customer that this thing is way far from being high enough on their priority list to get done. Those aren't positive comments, and to me it make it seem like it's probably not an outside roadblock keeping them from delivering any type of incremental update.

I just heard that something simple like a selectable ball save after the chapter start is not in the most recent beta. Word is, that code change is off the table. Won’t happen. That just seems bull-headed and wrong to me. I’m gonna be frustrated when the update FINALLY comes out and I still routinely have my ball flushed by the game through no fault of my own...

Anyone know settings to make the starmap more comprehensible? I see a couple settings that pertain, but I don’t know which direction to change the setting. I’d like to basically make it as easy as possible until I get the gist.

Also, anyone who has a black hole at the “I” lane, I strongly recommend the tighter post. Much more fun for me.

Just because Tortuga is lit, doesn't mean you have to collect it. You can keep building up gold for high values before collecting. I had Tortuga lit in a recent game and actually beat Davy Jones for 145 more gold before starting it, so I started that Tortuga with 290 gold. Gold collector is how much gold you collected throughout the entire game overall.

Does liars dice cheat? Someone posted before but I swear he gets an unnatural amount of doubles, triples and more.

I had a monster (for me) game today! At least an hour. Two wizard modes. At least a couple superjackpots on curse of the black pearl multiball (that ones hard for me to manage the canon shot while not draining other balls). Wow. This scallywag is my dude right now!

BY THE WAY: due to Eric's usually-awesome-but-more-frequently-a-drain-suck-Letter-I-gate draining balls immediately from The Depths, there should be a ball save there. You talk shit about how nobody will get to the Final Wizard mode but don't have basic accommodations for mechanical issues? That's amateur hour.

There’s gotta be a mechanical fix for that? Mine literally never happens. I wish we could figure that one out for the people who have that problem.

Now coming off the post from the mode start... that needs a freaking ball save.

When I offer legit insight into what happens every day, my positive post is flipped around into a negative right away. Keith is senior software man. Ask him why he doesn’t do his job in the exact order you would like and I’ll keep working on what I do and cease wasting time here.

I played a lot of elvira. It’s a good shooter. I’m not sure about top five all time. To each their own tho. Potc is legendary to me

Are you supposed to only go after that one goal in a given game? In other words, if I’m trying to get goal number one, but i stumble into number three along the way, that doesn’t count, right?

How long did it take to play a “round”? I’m imagining an hour or so?

You tube videos are helpful but the above thread also helped me to get mine right. It's totally worth it!

I think I took two hours to install both times (installed one for a friend). They were both the original kind. It took a couple times lifting and lowering the pf (watch it if you have art blades). But it was pretty straightforward for me. Watch out for missing parts on the fork lifter mech while you’re there. Mine was missing a couple of the little slider bushings, so that was hindering the fork and lid...
