Quoted from Crile1:

BIG shoutout to Tiltgraphics for amazing customer service. Gave me a second chance at putting on the fantastic pin blades. Also thanks to Pinball Life for the side art protectors.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Those blades look awesome! I just bought a Pirates, and getting it delivered tomorrow! Can’t wait. Keeping an eye out and see so many cool mods.

Have you or anyone here seen where we can get this one from? It’s so much better from just having the pirate on the pop bumper!

Quoted from VillaThrills:

Post 2473 I believe. Around page 50. You make it yourself if you can find the character.

Thanks so much!!! Awesome!!!!

#4212 5 years ago

So is everyone agreeing that the disk is too loud?

Is the silencer a must?

#4234 5 years ago
Quoted from Genjuro:

Yes and YES!
I cant hear mine at all any more. Note: I used dry gear lubricant that I ordered from the EU from here:
https://www.dryfluids-shop.com/epages/63013811.mobile/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/63013811/Products/"42%206026908%20073%201"
Only WLG I used was at the one point where the shim was placed. If you order the kit, you will know where this spot is.

Great! Thanks for the link! I’ll see if I can find something similar here in Aus. And will definitely get the kit, since I pretty much want every moth themodcouple got anyway!

#4326 5 years ago

Ok so I finally got it! Woohoo!

Mirrors and external sub hooked! Loving it. Also big order on The Mod Couple for most the mods placed (though I think I missed a pop bumper... damnnit!)

And here is on quality of the monitor.

Current settings;
4F39CE82-284E-4F0A-AD66-658640455773 (resized).jpeg4F39CE82-284E-4F0A-AD66-658640455773 (resized).jpeg01163EB4-FFBF-4881-B44E-3BB175EDAFEA (resized).jpeg01163EB4-FFBF-4881-B44E-3BB175EDAFEA (resized).jpeg

However my view on the comparison with the other JJP machines is that Pirates has all these spotlight pointing towards it. (I can actually see the reflection of them on it)

But when a covered them;

I feel like it makes a big difference.

Anyway, thanks for all the Info you all post here. Definitely helps when trying to set it right

Quoted from gliebig:

Mine was factory set at 18. Will bump it up and see what happens.

Let us know how you go. I seem to be having a similar issue and going to ball search st times

#4335 5 years ago
Quoted from adamross:

Congrats! How did you connect the external sub?

Straight to internal sub.

#4352 5 years ago
Quoted from zaphX:

Friend was having pearl vuk problems. I checked mine which was 32 (default) and suggested he try that. It resolved the issue for him.

Thanks! It was set to 32, but it seems what it was causing it is that I had the machine with too much of a slope. Put levellers up on front and seems like it has done the trick!

#4548 5 years ago
Quoted from Pinzzz:

Does leaving the rubber off the post on the right outline (escape the locker). make it harder or easier to get back to the shooter lane! JJP has a extra rubber in the goodie bag...

Swapped it from right to left. Made it easier to escape!

#4549 5 years ago
Quoted from Bud:

I love the way mine looks, it has a really cool sheen in different lighting.[quoted image]

Looks awesome! My one doesn’t even have a level?

Number 167 in the house! Quick question as I set it up. How high do you guys have your back legs jacked up? I know Stern is almost flat anymore and I look at Wizard of Oz that I have and it's pretty high
[quoted image]

Awesome! Here is it’s brother #165 in Sydney/Australia!

Has anyone done a music/call outs upgrade to a JJP code before? I feel like that might be a way to make this game awesome”R”!!!!

#4694 5 years ago
Quoted from javagrind888:

Looking at the update files, they aren't encrypted, they are compressed, then re-compressed. IMG is the first barrier, but the rest are .gz broken up into aa, ab, ac and so on. Looks like the old winrar continuous compressed files. Can't find a decompression program for it yet....

Great News!

#4805 5 years ago
Quoted from Kerry_Richard:

Congrats DaveB!!! My#15 is in the box and should be opened tomorrow at 10am! I too am currious if anyone knows more about this.

Hmmmm... that’s the number I wanted as I have #15 Dialed In! Now I know where it lives at least! Enjoy the game mate!

#4806 5 years ago
Quoted from lapean111:

Everyone who is having this issue needs to make sure they removed the foam block that is screwed to the back of the cabinet. This block is only there for shipping. Jjp should update their documentation to reflect this.

Oops! Mine is working great and no issues pushing it back in. Thought it served a purpose! I’ll be removing it when I get home! Thanks!

#4909 5 years ago
Quoted from dgposter:

I completely agree about the QC concerns at JJP. So much so that it had delayed my purchase of POTC. However, I did finally pull the trigger on an LE from Chris at KingPin Games. Here is what I decided to do to ensure my game has the best chance of arriving at my door in the best possible shape.
I am paying Chris extra to open my game and tweak it for me. He is going to install the Cliffy set, ModCouple disc silencer, new Titan rubber set and the Tilt side art blades. He will then playtest it and dial it in perfectly before shipping it out to me in a wooden crate. Chris follows this thread closely and is aware of what needs to be checked out, so I feel I am in very good hands.
I do realize that there are a number of things that can still happen in shipping from KingPin to me, but I'm ok with that. Most of the issues I'm seeing don't seem related to shipping anyway. I'm just trying to save myself as much frustration and downtime as possible.
I am not saying this is an acceptable solution. Not by a long-shot. But hopefully, JJP is paying attention and is trying to take steps to improve their quality control, so that in the future, their customers don't feel the need to pay 'extra' to help ensure a working product out of the box.

I think with the amount of money we pay for this game (even more here in Australia) This last step should be taken by JJP before shipping, and not a third party to whom we need to pay even more to, so the game plays “right” out of the box.

Quoted from Captchaos:

I was having the same problem with the chest lock. The pinballs would magnetize in just a few plays. I changed the originals bc they seems to be garbage and were getting scratched very easily. Don't use ninja's, as they magnetize very quickly as well. I just purchased some new pinballs from Marco....so far so good.

So which ones you got? Agree that the ones that came with the game are crappy and also got magnetised straight away though I haven’t had any issues after day one. I was thinking of getting Ninja Ones but then read this... thanks

#4919 5 years ago
Quoted from skyrex:

First off let me say greatest and most helpful owners/owners thread ever!
So last week a ball went missing. I mean I pull up the playfield, eject all the balls...go into every nook and cranny and I can’t find the damn thing. So I grab a spare ball and go back to pirating.
Happens again today but I see where it went and get it. Now this time when I have the glass off I find last weeks lost ball. I guess at some point during a multi ball a ball got lodged behind the left pearl flipper in a way that still allowed everything to work. It’s kind of dark there and I never noticed. lol
[quoted image]

Thanks for posting! Now I know where it may have gone if one goes missing.

Also on this note. Couple of places where the ball got stuck on one of my last games...

First one, only happened once, second one keeps happening, have to hit side so it drops down (any fix?)

#4920 5 years ago

Anyone had any issues with spot lights? Couple started flickering and then stopped working, when I had a closer look, they were loose/unsoldered. Have some other white ones but way too bright. Anyone know where to get the ones the game brings from? Thanks!

#4929 5 years ago
Quoted from zaphX:

Yes, the spots are a trouble spot I've seen in 3/3 machines. Some fixes I used in the guide at http://tinyurl.com/potcfixes.
Also there is a drop-in replacement suggested by yelobird https://www.cometpinball.com/product-p/opmax12v.htm

Thanks Mate!

Yelobird did you find this “frosted” style better than the ones that came with the game? Also which white out of 2 options you found better?

Thanks!

#4966 5 years ago
Quoted from zaphX:

rpz also look at the angle of the shooter rails in my photo vs yours - mine is further right which puts a rail where your ball is stuck. Might want to loosen the nut and adjust.

This seems to have done the trick!! Thanks so much! Had about 4 games and no hang ups!

The little clear rubber was there, but I found another one here;

Any idea where it belongs?

#4969 5 years ago
Quoted from evh347:

My idea...it should've been over below the 'D' on 'man overboard' and not there. I don't have a clear rubber where your picture seems to indicate, nor do I see a purpose for it being there in the first place.

Already have one near D, this seems to be another one?

#4993 5 years ago
Quoted from zaphX:

Back of Tortuga scoop have one?

I think you are onto something here (again)

Got a pic of yours?

They are bit like a puzzle from the moment your receive them. Having said that. I’ve had lots of fun dialing it in and getting it going 100%

#5064 5 years ago
Quoted from evh347:

Besides the extra clear rubber included in your ‘goodie bag’, I’m aware of just three located on my playfield.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Thank you! Tortuga Scoop it is!!

#5071 5 years ago

@screaminr

Is it the longer one I have? Should I still have it where I put it?

Quoted from Yelobird:

Ok Buccaneers, how about a Friday How To tutorial on making your own Davy Jones! NOT for sale just a tutorial so please don't ask! lol Start with a not so easy to find but attainable if you keep an eye on Ebay Davy Jones Series 1 7" figure. Incredible detail and a perfect scale fit! Start with a simple nut cracker move and literally Crack him in half at the waist. While his mid section does have a plate of plastic it seemed a bit to thin for my long term liking so I added a printed solid plastic reenforcement plate and super glue. Center and match holes in removed barrel and Tom figure. Ok, this part is a bit more invasive but really Not that hard. As this figure does not have articulating elbows his arms would Not work in our spinning application with the ramps so he needed to be Persuaded to conform. Using a heat gun Slowly apply heat to his elbow. You'll know when you're there when you see a little smoke and they bend easy. To fare and you get fire. Bend both arms to 90 degrees and add rubber bands till they heat set to the correct shape. A few minutes. After mounting him its time to give that lovely cape a needed trim. I found just below the barrel top edge is perfect and still looks Flowey. (is that a word?) One detail that is IMPORTANT, after you dry fit him and make sure all spins perfect you Need to apply a small amount of super glue to All joints to lock them in place. He won't love it but he Can't move or raise his arms when spinning!! Also note how I arranged and glued his right hand tentacle to the barrel for a nice look. Spins great and other then some casual hobby time really not that hard to do. Plus on a CE this is simply Spot On! Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is anything I forgot to explain. Play on ye scurvy Pirates!!!!

Thanks for all the instructions!

I finally got mine today and installed it straight away! LOOKS AWESOME!

So which cliffys are people installing? Ramp ball drop ones? Even though ball drops on the end?

Quoted from Axl:

Here is a picture from the post on one of the games on location.
[quoted image]
I highly doubt that this is something they have done with the game.
[quoted image]

Problem with such thick washers is that sometimes ball would go in and be locked within the sling shot and also the arm can sometimes come out under it.

I will be getting some star posts like Dialed In has... not sure why JJP didnt do the same thing with POTC.

Quoted from VillaThrills:

Updated my posts just to stop the progression of the chipping around the bottom sling posts. Looks pretty good and covers up any of the chipping that has already occurred. More of a protective measure than a design one. Went with light blue star posts.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Did this end the chipping? Or did the clear bubble up around them also?

Quoted from Axl:

Keefer has been sick for a few weeks. My guess is that they where going to launch it at Texas.
My next guest would be at MGC April 12th.

What kind of excuse is being sick? Lol!

It’s coding, not bricklaying

#6476 4 years ago
Quoted from wesman:

Receiver?
Anyone ever have a misaligned or bent lockdown bar? I removed the sticky foam even, and can only lock one side down. The metal tabs seem bent? The one on the right isn't flush/parallel with the one on the left. And I have the glass as far up as I can go.
Even turning the coin box key takes a firm turn upward to lock.
I have no.visible cabinet or box damage. Not sure why there are these front end, very basic mechanical issues...
Thanks everyone for your advice. I'm off to bed for now.
[quoted image]

I had the same issue, right one would go down and left one would hit the glass every time, had to take foam out and bent left one back a little. Now it goes in every time without a problem. I didn’t touch the 2 brass screws at all.

Check out this update... going to add several more clips from the film but just making some custom cg fx. Also threw in something for Road Show.

These updates should be integrated with the code, not a different screen.
