Pinside newbie here. I hope to soon be part of the owners club. Has anybody received their POTC from thepinballcompany recently? I paid by deposit late last year. Still waiting for the reminder of my payment to taken. However, with the recent talk of POTC halting production, at least for awhile, should I be worried that I might have a much longer wait?

#3562 5 years ago
Quoted from Yelobird:

Have you considered just giving them a call to ask for a status update seeing as they have you money? They are usually pretty quick on the phone. Worst case last I checked KingPin Games and Flippen Out Pinball both had stock for immediate delivery so not sure why you would still be waiting?

At first I was told end of the month (jan). Then I was told maybe 1 or 2 more weeks. Then after reading about the possible end of the production run....I just wanted to see what others have experienced with thepinballcompany so that I could compare what others have been told or experienced with what they would tell me. I intend to call by end of next week. I also didn't know if things like this were the norm for buying pinball machines.

LE number 229, manufacturing date 2/4/19
has arrived. So far my only issue was the Peal not moving. Fixed and now seems fine.

#4914 5 years ago
Quoted from zaphX:

For documentation, what was the cause/fix? Was it adjusting the bar behind the backbox?

Yes that is correct. At first it seemed to work fine. After a few test games, it would not move at all. Couldnt get it to move in test menu either. I adjusted the bar which attaches the Pearl to the motor. Now all seems fine.

Quoted from fossmin:

So I just starting getting an error, target switch #48 is stuck closed, target ship. Is this the ship on the left side of the playfield? Anyone know how to get to it? Do I have to remove the upper deck?
Thanks
Gerry

I had this same error. While the machine was on, I pushed on the ship. This cleared the error for me.

Quoted from Ramjet:

I have had the same problem from day one so I submitted a support ticket about this on January 14th and have heard absolutely nothing back from JJP!
I would imagine that other people have the same problem but probably think they are not timing their shot correctly and don't realize that the two ships are not aligned like they should be. I'm hoping more people start bringing this to JJP's attention so that it can be addressed with some type of fix.

Same issue for me. I have had the ball go through the ship but I miss way more than make it in.

Quoted from steigerpijp:

If I can get enough deckswabs on board I will make a limited run of this CE shooter kit.
LE owners no problem , a clean & polished pistol would suit that look better
Feel free to Pm me if interested.
Geert

Count me in for a LE version

You're in my way, boy.

Thoughts?

Quoted from Oneangrymo:

Ok this machine is heavy. Whats the easiest way for me to lift it to adjust the feet on the legs. I think the incline needs adjustments. Any tips ?

Well I had this same issue. I was too impatient to wait for help. I had to adjust the rear legs. So........I got on all fours.......went under the machine then lifted with my shoulders / back then adjusted one leg at a time. I'm pretty sure there are better methods.

Quoted from harryhoudini:

Anyone interested in a 3D topper something like this? It will likely have a background and maybe some text. Obviously some lighting effects.
[quoted image]
Updated with background and text.. HUGE caveat this is a really quick example. I have parts on order to make a prototype.[quoted image]

You have my interest

Quoted from harryhoudini:

Suggestion? I think just ship(s) look boring. I wanted to do the fire effect as part of it ala the ride but too expensive complicated. What else is iconic enough? I guess all the figurines is an option. Maybe an old wooden Arch with the logo on it behind various cannons, steering wheel, etc like you're looking up at the edge of a boat deck?

Maybe the compass? Or maybe a skeleton being hanged from the gallows? Or the kraken?

I have an "issue" and I'm wondering if this is the norm for JJP games. When I remove the lockbar.....once removed, the glass will very easily fall away from the cabinet.

On other machines, after removing the lockbar, the glass may slide a few inches or so. Then I need to slide the rest out myself. On my POTC, if I'm not there to "catch" the glass, it would fall right out by itself. Is that normal or not?

Quoted from PinMonk:

Varies from machine to machine, but not abnormal.

Quoted from LTG:

Varies from game to game.

Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

happens on lots of games, JJP, Stern, WMs games, etc.

Thanks for the responses. Makes me feel better knowing this.

So I wanted to see if I could add a mermaid somewhere on the playfield. This is all I could come up with. Haven't decided if I will keep as is or remove. Wish I could see the tail more. I might try to touch up the skin so it blends in more.

Quoted from wesman:

Half mermaid.....half Medusa!
Her neck is pretty beastly!
The tail detail is really nice though!

It totally looks like the mold could have been for medusa......and then they just added on for a mermaid.
