Anyone figure out why the cannon seems to be immeditaly qualified to load at times since update?

I have not experienced this myself, for what it's worth.

Wow with some lighting that ship would make an awesome topper!! Thanks for sharing looks great.

Quoted from VillaThrills:

I just can’t get through my head the behavior. Do the JJP coils work like the old Bally ones? So button is pressed and high power coil kicks in and the flipper goes up. Hits the EOS, and adds in the low power coils. Either low power never engaged (short in the coil connection) or is not enough (poor solder joint). Flipper comes back down, releases EOS, bypasses low power coil and high power kicks it back up trips the EOS and somehow low power magically is enough now. Just don’t understand that.

My money is on the flipper button switch

So last night we played for five hours after the machine arrived and we were done with dinner etc. Tonight probably more of the same. I’ve never had this much fun on a pin! Whole family loves it.

Never really thought about it but you can buy the CE playfield?

Quoted from VillaThrills:

You'd have to call them and ask Shannan or Frank.

To buy any parts just for CE, you'll have to own one and provide serial numbers, etc.

Sounds familiar. Definitely one of the funnest pins to come out recently and I'm not even a huge fan of the movies. In fact I'm pretty sure I only even bothered watching the last three sequals because of this pin. Its just a great pirate theme in general imo and the Disney license adds just the right amount of spice.

No you can't. Not unless you're a CE owner.

So I can qualify chapters but how do I actually get credit for chapters so I can combine with MB mode to get wizard? Do I need 5 or so to at least start?

Also - best way to tweak the tuga VUK? Sometimes mine shoots into the right inlane. It's really the only thing I've seen that doesn't play as expected and even that works 7 out of 10.

That is called bumpers VUK in settings. Turn it up or down depending.

I cannot remove the post on the upper PF (black pearl) in order to change its position. It seems like it should turn with a wrench but it doesn't budge. Is there a trick to it?

Long socket on top, wrench or nut driver on bolt below.

I'm just going to leave this here:

Yes you have an example of pirate spelt with a " y" , it was also spelt with an " I " but most importantly in THE MOVIES of Pirates Of The Caribbean they never spell pirate with a "y" . So to be true to the franchise they would spell piracy with an "i" not a "y" on a wanted poster . It just doesn't look right and the last thing I want to do while playing pinball is have a debate with mates over spelling . Just my 2 cents worth

Eesh, this game has had a lot of issues out of the box. My Black Pearl started throwing switch errors, so I knew I had the dreaded broken switch wires under the mini PF. I removed it and sure enough the wires were broken off on the left frontmost switch.

The zip ties were too tight on the harness and not routed ideally to give them slack as the ship rocks. The soldering on the wires was also pretty bad. I spent a few hours snipping zip ties, routing and resoldering the wires on the two left switches and cleaning/waxing the playfield, especially under the Pearl. Then cleaned and waxed the rest of the playfield and installed new mirror balls. All switches tested OK and the game plays perfectly now.

I played a few games and was able to get all five multiball modes going at once, Tortuga MB, Liars Dice and ended up with 1.3M on factory 3 ball settings. Didn’t reach any wizard modes tonight, but I’ll keep trying. This is one deep and difficult to beat game, like all JJPs.

I’m still on .96 code and will stay there until the next code release. There should be more callouts and mode integration with the Depths and Bayou shots as they don’t do much in the current code. Such a great pin with a lot more potential with further code development. The sounds and music in this pin are the best I’ve ever heard in a pinball machine. The music score and LED lighting changes during the different modes is incredible.

Oh, and yes the topper is off center. Looks odd, I’ll need to figure out how to center it.

Thanks but my manual plunger is not hitting the auto plunger. The problem is my auto launches do not launch the ball into play some times. The ball hits that post you use to save the ball from out lane drains.

so two items:

1) Gold button sometimes gets stuck a little after multiple presses - anyone experience this?
2) Bumper VUK sometimes hits sling. I know you can change power but it seems like it could be more than that. Anyone experience this and any thoughts to have it kick out clean 100%? Right now it's around 70%?

Take a look through the thread...lots of ways to fix 1). Mine included bending the switch the button hits on the receiver and then running very hot water over the button. Some are using white lithium, others are sanding. Take a look at the pictures of the thread, you will see ones with the button in question and you can jump to that post.

In my case, the shooter rod is NOT center on the ball. Unfortunately centering it made it worse. It hits the ball pretty of center, but doesn't seem to matter because of the rails.

Check the two prongs of the auto launcher and see how they align on the ball when you push the auto launcher forward. May need to bend one or both to align so it shoot the ball right.

Nice - I might do that too. Now for that bumper VUK.....I'll take a look through here.

Based upon the previous JJP games, does anyone have a list of recommended parts to keep on hand for wear and tear items? Maybe things like flipper rebuild kit, etc?

it is just another coil that you can turn down. it should be listed as the pop bumper vuk (or something similiar)

Only thing on mine and several reported the same is that the scoop for the VUK wasn’t screwed in tight. May want to check that to even the launch out some.

No idea, maybe Santa's helpers were too busy rushing to assemble and ship games before Christmas and drunk on egg nog, lol.

I hope I don't have to redrill new holes in the top of the backbox to get it centered. Will take a look after the holiday madness subsides.

They certainly didn't have enough time to actually install a topper in the factory to see how it looks, lol.

I personally think the game looks better without it anyways since it's literally regurgitating exactly the same thing that's displayed 4 inches below it on the backglass.

Toppers are Defiantly a personal or acquired taste for sure. Some people hate all toppers, some can't own a game without one. While I would have loved a Wow over the top topper the one provided looks very nice and I like the torch flicker effect they added personally. Granted I did sell my LE to order a CE it was not because of the topper. Or was it......lol

The LE and CE toppers are nice, but they can't compete with the awesome Laseriffic or other aftermarket toppers out there. I'm hoping someone makes a more realistic and interactive pirate ship in a bottle topper for POTC at some point to replace the factory acrylic topper. I never used to like toppers, but now I have to put one on every pin. People always comment on the toppers as soon as they see the games. I think my favorites are BSD and Aerosmith and the Stern Aces High topper is coming for the Maiden LE.

So while I’m glad I got my pirates ce today It’s kind of useless. Jjp did not include leg levers or the screws to attach the topper. Seeing everyone else’s missing items and issues it’s concerning to me how rushed and lack of qc that has been employed to get these out.

Honestly I think the CE topper blows every other topper out of the water as its very interactive. A majority toppers just reproduce an image that's already on the backglass or playfield which I think comes across as excessive.

Everyone has seen my issues and I am not minimizing those concerns in the least...however I can say without reservation, this is my favorite pinball machine ever. I really look forward to Eric’s next machine as this one is a masterpiece IMHO. I can’t wait for the next reveal.

And that’s where the problem for me is (I’m trying to see your posts in here) $15k AUD is Houdini plus something or deadpool pro plus whitewater. The problem factor, the topper not being centred (that’s so simple but seriously how do you stuff that up), wear etc etc adds up to hmmm

#1997 5 years ago

I'm with @villathrills. This game is spectacular. I wouldn't trade mine for 2 classic Williams. The problems are annoying, but will be forgotten long before the game gets old.
