My game is living at my cousin's house and it's wrapped up for 3 months for some remodeling in the house...I can't wait to get back on there.
Quoted from Stef95:I also think it's good !!. Or did you paint your lookbar and the rest? It's great ! With beautiful brand new ramps lool !! I advise you to install a cliffy kit otherwise your Tortuga hole will tear ...

Lol they look similar, lock bar and rest are ported from the hobbit gold vein.
There is a plastic protector but maybe a cliffy would be a good idea

For the ones who have changed the flipper rubbers on the upper black pearl playfield, how do you proceed?
I tried to change them however the black pearl ship itself covers the end of the flipper, thus making it not possible to simply remove the flipper rubber and change it. I tried to squeeze, extend etc... the rubber but there is just not enough room to remove the rubber and insert of new one.
Without creating damage, what is the proper way to proceed?

Slip the fat end of the rubber ring under the plastic and over the flipper bat then stretch over the narrow end.
Or remove the lock nuts and plastic and then put them on.

Quoted from LOTR_breath:I just removed the nut and lifted up the plastic and replaced the rubber. Easy peasy.
Be careful not to bust the plastic or a nut.

Hi all- all the sudden have couple issues (got potc about month or so ago and all was perfect). Now I have 1) the auto launch all the sudden no good. It’s making a very loud noise- thinking maybe it’s hitting the playfield edge instead of the ball? As result it’s weak and can’t launch balls- often takes 3-6 times to get it up and over the wire form. I did swap in a new shooter rod but that was a week before this started happening- but maybe I screwed something up. 2) does your gate on left in lanes sometimes allow a ball to sneak through “backwards” leading to a drain? It is rare but has happened a few times on weird bounce. 3) does the chest open on standards? I swore it used to move but now stays always open. I see a coil there behind it on left so assuming it should work. I know there’s a mod for that but since I see coil wondering if maybe I have it but just not working. 4) pretty sure this is a key post but didn’t see on quick scan- tortuga eject sdtm…easy fix?

1) See key post in this forum for ideas on autoplunger. If it still doesn't work take slow motion video to try to see what's going on with it.
2) Yes, the inlane gate will sometimes still be up as a ball bounces quickly back at it. Happens in the blink of an eye but it's normal. Same thing happens occasionally on the gate out of the pops on Jurassic Park.
3) Chest doesn't open unless you have the mod. The coil is to move the arm that holds the balls in the chest in order to release the balls.
4) Here is a good post from the POTC troubleshooting thread that shows how to lift the pop bumper so you can get at the Tortuga deflector screws to re-aim it:

It is normal for the auto launch to make a loud noise if there is no ball in the shooter lane. Is it possible that the plunger you swapped out is a little bit too long?
STDM from Tortuga is an easy fix. First tighten the two screws holding the metal bracket. You don't need to take anything apart, just need a small shank phillips head screwdriver. Second, you can adjust the kickout power in the menu if needed to fine tune where it kicks to. Mine kicks to the lower 1/3 of the left flipper. Also a good idea to use some thread locker on those two screws or you will have to re-tighten from time to time.

Quoted from Stef95:I had the same problem a short time ago. It was simply the sensor that had come loose from its holder. One time the sensor was in the right position and I had no more errors, another time the lens was turned to the wrong side and the error reappeared. I disassembled the HMS and re-clipped the sensor and everything is OK.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago. Seems like that it could be an issue which would arise after some time.
Just picked up an SE. How good is the shaker integrated in the game and is it worth adding? Game has pooling/chipping around sling posts, what is the best washers recommended to go under posts? Do most change the posts to the wider star type when putting washers down also?

It's good, I'd say worth it but not a "must-have". Consider upgrading the woofer in the cabinet with a Pinwoofer; you'll get more shaking and rumbling out of that.
Add soft plastic washers such as these: https://pinside.com/pinball/market/shops/1080-the-mod-couple/05106-mylar-post-ring-kits . Yes upgrade to star posts

I don't usually bother with shakers, but I added a JJP shaker to my SE and it was definitely a worthy upgrade for this game. I think I read that the new code in the development will add more shaker action too.
As for the sling posts, most people swap in star posts and there was actually a star post kit that JJP used to send out. If you have bad pooling, the vinyl repair kit 'playfield iron' can be used to flatten the pooling and curb future chipping before installing the new posts. As for what to put under the posts, there are million different theories on what is the 'best'. Some people put mylar rings, rubber gaskets or neoprene washers under the posts. There are lots of threads about this for JJP games in general. Personally, I used the playfield iron, mylar rings and star posts and 1,000 plays later it still looks perfect.

Pretty great. Code is in beta testing, quite a few changes, and the team seems open to addressing more bug issues

That's... crazy and amazing. I'm not even sure what code version I'm on, but I think it's 0.98?

At least upgrade to 0.99 which is on the JJP website! But more is coming and not too long from now, finally
The gate to the cannon on the Black Pearl doesn't open all the way anymore. The ball fits, but it's clipping the top of it now. How do I adjust this?

Here's a post I made in the troubleshooting thread about what I did on mine for a similar issue. In my case the door wouldn't close, but in the course of fixing it the same tweaks affected how high the door opened as I dialed it in to get it to a position that worked well:

It started doing it soon after taking the ship out for the first time to adjust the flippers. Your solution seems like it will be spot on. I'll try it when I get home, thanks!
I have an update for those that are waiting patiently for flipper cooling. I have factory production samples of a complete re-design of the Tibetan Breeze flipper coil cooling kit that is necessary for most of the JJP machines (except GnR), so we're getting close to having them available.
I'm going to test/release them for Wonka and jjPotC first since those are the pins that seem to have the most fade (aside from GnR which already has a kit) and therefore the most JJP owner interest. Then I'll work back through Dialed In, Hobbit, and WoZ, hopefully very quickly since this new bracket was designed to work in all of them. Testing on the actual machines will be the only thing slowing each release a bit.
Note:this is only for JJP machines that are not GnR, also not for Spike or Spooky machines. Those use the existing Tibetan Breeze kit.
Testing should start next week, and if all goes well and changes aren't required, we should be a go by the turn of the year.
Just fitted the moving chest lid mod. Should have made it to production as it clearly shows when to shoot. I think it's my new favourite mod.

Agreed! I love it
Karl's streaming PotC right now, trying to get 100million with the newer beta code and also testing prototype new Tibetan Breeze coil cooling kits tweaked to fit on jjPotC. Cooling temps are on screen as he streams.

No hats or patches added to your High Score pics? Once I figured out the right head position, I could get them to pop on pretty regularly.

The little arm that the magnet behind the chest pulls back is probably drifted too far from the magnet. You just have to bend it a little by hand. Also, on the system menu there's a setting for how long the arm stays open to let balls out. Make that longer.
