Quoted from zaphX:

going for sixes is always a rush.
Something about the colorful banners really incentivizes getting it filled with all 5+Tortuga.

Just read this... please elaborate! I go for the chapters because I didn't realise there was much else to do... would love to know what 'going for the sixes' is all about!!

If you get all 6 multi balls going at same time. 5 movies and tortuga you get a cool bonus. If you haven’t done it yet it is a blast to achieve.

I've had 2 or 3 running at the same time, but I'm sure not 6... when they start following each other I get a bit lost as to what's running... I find it hard to tell how close I am to starting a multiball, there's probably an indication of how many shots are needed to start them, but I've not noticed that... the chest is obvious of course... and I thought there were only 5 MBs... clearly I need educating more on this game

Yellow: Boat spinners, load target, sink in cannon, shoot boat. Then shoot left orbit to start.
Green: Lock 3 balls in the chest
Blue: 5 non-consecutive loops
Red: All 9 major shots hit, then maelstrom
Purple: Spinner rips to the depths shot
Tortuga: 50 gold then shoot the scoop

Yellow and purple are the hardest to do during multiball so try and tee those up first before popping off all the crazy.

#17155 2 years ago
Quoted from zaphX:

Blue: 5 non-consecutive loops

This is the 'On Stranger Tides' one if I'm not mistaken...

I've noticed on mine that I can hit consecutive loops and that MB will start... maybe it's a settings thing, or I've got old code...

So the Tortuga is not linked to a wizard mode then I take it... I think I need 45 gold for mine

Regarding the spinner rips to The Depths... is there any way to tell how close you are to starting that? Or On Stranger Tides for that matter...? Or the Maelstrom... maybe on the display...?

Factory settings for Tortuga MB is 50 gold, but it's adjustable.

Multiball progress is tracked on the map on the LCD. If you look closely, you can see the colored paths completing on the map as you progress towards each MB.

Quoted from pinballslave:

... I find it hard to tell how close I am to starting a multiball, there's probably an indication of how many shots are needed to start them, but I've not noticed that...

Progress toward starting each is shown on the screen. Graphically on the map for each of the 5 movie multiballs and via gold count in lower right corner for Tortuga (need 50 to activate saucer shot to start 1st, 100 for second, ...).

Quoted from pinballslave:

This exchange between possibly the ONE thing I really like about the Internet: a guy from Czech and a guy from France can talk to one another about an amazing game! Haha

#17162 2 years ago
Quoted from zaphX:

...
Purple: Spinner rips to the depths shot
...

And then rolling over activated switch further up in Depths area. This last part can be a challenge as the ball doesn't always trigger this switch due to the geometry of the turnaround area. I needed to bend the guide rail (next to the switch) inwards on my game to improve this.

Quoted from pinballslave:

Regarding the spinner rips to The Depths... is there any way to tell how close you are to starting that? ...

Number of spins translates to how far along the required path on the screen that the ship travels. Much like the ring traveling (via spinner hits) in Hobbit. Multiball requirement is reduced if you're playing the Captain Armando Salazar character.

Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

Cet échange entre peut-être la SEULE chose que j'aime vraiment sur Internet : un gars de Tchèque et un gars de France peuvent se parler d'un jeu incroyable ! haha

And I'm looking forward to the new code with the integrated scorebit. Throwing challenges to players all over the world on the same machine must be awesome !!! I will have to make friend requests on this thread ... I hope there will be some

When is the knocker used for this game? Is it only for grand champion?

#17170 2 years ago

Wow. Had such an amazing game again yesterday! Still love the action and everything that is happening. Gibbs is the best with all the callouts to me! Thank you so much for all the work that has been put in this game!

I'm on the hunt for two mods that a friend of mine has that came with his used Pirates.

-Cannons that fit on the sides of the ramp to the Pearl. I've seen some shorter ones, these are long and thin.

-Starfield map that covers the back board, compatible with the LE

Does anyone know where these are?

Just FYI on the star map - it is fairly complicated to install (even more so if you have the Lior Dauntless mod), and it doesn’t really add much to the game. The (optional) extra lights aren’t terribly visible unless you set them to Go Crazy mode, and the backboard is easy to scratch so be careful. Also, to install the mod, the main star map circuit board is pressed right up against the wood, without a spacer. I just didn’t like this very much.

It’s a nice mod though, just set your expectations thusly! And IMO don’t bother with the extra lights

Thanks for report about, im wondering if i will buy it or no...

I've been wondering for a while, but it didn't shock anyone the official CE visual and reality?

the color of the armor is totally different ...
in reality it is very very dark almost black while the flyer is really khaki green and I find this color so much better!

Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

I installed the star map with the lighting option on my SE and the rendering is really great. The lights illuminate well I think. On the other hand, on the LE, the contrast with the already existing card does not seem to me to be the right compromise. It is better to leave the original card or remove it completely and put the full mod of the SE. it s just my opinion.

Very good point! I should have made clear that I have an LE and I can see how it would make a greater difference on the SE.

And I want to be clear Im not trashing Harry’s mods at all - I had just set my expectations far too high for this star map upgrade

The CE is definitely a sea green in my opinion.

Thanks for the heads up. I watched the install video and pretty quickly changed my mind on it.
Still looking for those cannons though.

What is the version number?

I believe it’s version 1b. There are some score balancing changes but the biggest change is Scorbit integration, which is very cool. You can see your score adding up in real time on the scoreboard

Also it does wipe out your high score table!

JJP has been very good about adding people into the Telegram group; I really like it because we get these interesting insights into the games that there's no way we ever would have before. Plus, updates!

Once you update your game with this latest version, you can add a Wifi dongle and opt into beta code updates as well. Win-win!

dr_light Does this include the character balances in the last beta? I didn't get much time on it last night, but on the telegram posts it wasn't really clear to me if the character changes were included in this beta version.

Thanks

Thanks

+ Players can now change their character by hitting the PIRATE target enough
times. The default is 20 hits the first time, then 30, 40, 50 and so on.
* Updated Weatherby Swann's power: He now gets a 25% bonus on multiball
scores, can "pardon" one ball that would have ended multiball (once per
ball), and scores much more for gold during bonus (100/gold vs the nomal
25/gold). However, he is not allowed to start Arrr Frenzy or Tortuga
Multiball.
* Updated Marty's power: Marty now spawns only single gold pieces regardless
of total amount dropping on screen to allow for big opportunity to collect
gold points for collecting. Gold stays on screen 3 times longer then normal.
* Updated Ragetti's power: Easier qualification of adding arrr frenzy to
pirate inlane awards.
* Updated Pintel's power: Double scoring during Arrr Frenzy.
* Updated Jack's power: Added a progressive multiball scoring power (the more
multiballs running the more they are all worth).
* Updated Will's power: Easier extra ball collect
* When playing as Norrington, you no longer get gold on characters you
didn't actually make the shots for.
* When playing as Barbossa, your super jackpots no longer count towards
Wizard Modes.
* Barbossa now scores correctly during Dead Men Tell No Tales Multiball.
* Added a lamp effect for Carina's Star Map decoder power.
* Fixed a bug where Angelica's hold power selected a mode's skill if it
was running instead of choosing the highest value skull.
+ Implemented competition mode jackpot selection for Dead Man's Chest
Multiball. The jackpot selection is no longer random in competition mode.
* Arrr Frenzy can now be played more than two times.
* Changed the default number of Pirate lane completions needed for the
2nd extra ball. It is 25 now, it was 20.
* The maximum scoring multipliers for gold collect are now capped. It's
3x for everyone except Marty, who is 5x.
* Added Attract Mode motion-detect speech. It is defaulted to ON.
* Updated Attract Mode custom message page.
* If your camera is broken or disabled the game will no longer show the
"THIS GAME TAKES YOUR PICTURE" message. It will also show the "no photo"
icon at game start.
* Changed the default number of Pirate Inlane completions for the second
Arrr Frenzy to 10 (it was 15).
* When playing as Cotton, Black Pearl Multiball now displays doubled
jackpots correctly. (it always scored them correctly in the past).
* Balls in the chest lockup now released right when the game ends instead
of waiting for Match.
* Dead Man's Chest Multiball intro lamp show no longer covers up the
Pirate inlane lamps.
* Added intro lamp show to On Stranger Tide's Multiball.
* Pirate inlanes now do not change during Plundering and Liars Dice.
* Increased the default strength of the center uppost.
* Tortuga Multiball is now unable to start in Wizard Modes.
* Dead Man's Chest Multiball is now no longer available if Wizard Mode 2
is lit.
* The Map award is now more intelligent when spotting characters. It will
award more difficult to collect characters first.
* Improved choreography for spotting characters from a Map award.
* Fixed bug with Tia Dalma's Chapter selection where a hit to any Star Map
target would reset the selection cursor.
+ The orbit magnet behind the ship can now fire to help collect characters
on the ship if they are lit. This is managed by an adjustment that it
defaulted to off.
* Added shaker motor pulses to character collects during Chapters.
* Greatly improved Chapter display rendering removing many graphical glitches.
* Sped up Chapter Summary on ball drains.
* Added Liar's Dice to the Compass' shot considerations.
* The Compass now correctly calculates Barbossa's jackpot shots.
* The Compass now toggles between lit Wizard Modes.
* Better Z-Order rendering all around.
* Tortuga Multiball Summary now does not show twice.
* Improved orbit logic.
* During enter initials the position is now filled with an 'A' instead of
a blank after doing a 'DEL'.
* Fixed bug in Dead Men Tell No Tales Multiball where the roving jackpot
arrow would still be roving after the super jackpot is lit.

Also:

- pirate big points and hurryup scoring substantially increased
- treasure hoard substantially increased
- player menu and all the other system updates
- match LEFF
- credit/money highlight
- EB lamp fix for Will
- tilt warning lights show up to 6 warnings now via colors (like GNR)
- tilt choreo improved in liar's dice
- improved (per Keith) carina's starmap effect

I’m not sure what “match LEFF” means. These are straight from the JJP guys. The big list at top may not be 100% correct (not sure why), but it was from the official change log

#17199 2 years ago

BTW: this update is frickin awesome
