Quoted from Psw757:

White lithium is one of the highest regarded greases for gears in the Rc world. Doesn’t soften plastics or rubber and doesn’t break down like most dry lubes, Teflon lube and other ptfe lubes.
I will report back once I lightly apply.

I used to restore antique (1930's-1950) Wulitzer and RockOla jukeboxes and an old mechanic told me to use white lithium grease on the moving parts of the mechanisms. I did that and after a couple of years the white lube turned into a gummy compound that caused the mechs to freeze up. I had to tear down all of the mechs where I had used it, remove the offending grease, and relube with gun oil which worked like a charm. I guess I could do the same (gun oil) on my pinball gears but I am going to try the dry lube approach and see how it works. But, I will never use white lithium grease again. I know many swear by white grease; I swear at it. Best of luck to you.

The problem with greases is if it used in a environment where it can get dirty it will gum up but in a home environment on the bottom side of a new pinball machine, it will take years and years for that to happen if at all.

The problem with gun oil and many oils in general is the petroleum distillates that will eat and soften plastics over time.

Not sure what the best solution is but this is working for now.

Uhm.... presuming you mean 1.5 Million. Which is still hella impressive for less than a dozen games on it. I'm averaging maybe 600k on a good game, I'm happy when I break a million, and 1.6 is my current highest game.

That was a typo, yes 1.5 million. I had all 5 wizard modes stacked and my GF was watching. She was like "holy crap babe, you're in the zone!" I haven't reached the 666 mode yet, I hope to see that soon

This was always the problem with high end rc helis and the gears attracting dirt. Most everyone that has metal to metal gears uses the dryfluids because it’s drys on the gear, but doesn’t become “sticky”, but also doesn’t sling off. Here is the link to their webpage, and you have to get the “dryfluids extreme gear” one.

https://www.dry-fluids.com/dryfluid-gear-lube-1.html

Just to temper expectations, it doesn’t remove all the noise, but it definitely made it quieter, and also got rid of that terrible rattling at high speed. The most important part was the lack of attracting debris, since in the past things have gotten worse quickly after applying lubes that got sticky. I also use it on my bike, and some other things around the house that I would typically get a application of grease. It came out about 3 years ago and has been really popular ever since.

Lol too funny. My wife thinks I'm nutty and laughs if she sees me watching Papa pinball play/tournament videos online. If she caught me listening to the "JJP audible manual on tapes" she would kick me out. lol Kind of reminds me of The Dude Lebowski listening to bowling playoff tapes.

Ok thanks for the page, now maybe I'm over thinking this. When you open the movie by hitting the shot on the playfield the door opens and the cannon is displayed letting you know you have qualified to start a chapter for that movie.
the skull now moves down to the line below to tell you the same thing? is it in different spots just to tell you what order you opened up the movies? what would be the significance of that?

Those are just multiballs, the wizard modes are different. Not sure it would be possible to stack all of those.

#1412 4 years ago

I am still saving up for my game.
In the meantime i hope they kill off all the small problems that have been happening to some of the games.
It is such a fun game, and the small problems might scare someone off.

One thing it does is show progress to wizard mode. You have to do 5 chapters in a movie and a movies multiball to start that movies wizard mode.

The 5 wizard modes are not stackable and are individual modes played on there own.

There's a new version of the manual out that does a good job of explaining the rules.

That is a great question and I was wondering that as well. I am assuming as you are that it will get updated in new code, I do not know if you can side load new manuals on older code. Would be neat if you could.

You get a checkmark if you complete a chapter successfully by collecting all the required characters for that chapter. If you do not collect all the characters within the time limit of chapter you get an X in one of the slots but it I believe it still qualifies towards the wizard mode.

That said, I still do not clearly understand why the skulls show up in one of the five random slots. In the attached picture, what does the skull represent in slot 4? Why is it in slot 4?

I think skull means qualified, and the 4th position represents the "One Last Fight" chapter, which is perhaps random or perhaps cycled through? Just guessing though, keen to hear a more informed answer.

If I read what you're asking correctly, the skull icon under the open cannon port indicates the currently selected chapter from that movie that you have qualified. I'm pretty sure it has the Chapter title displayed somewhere there, but I'm not currently in front of a game(I'm at a bar a mile from the factory, actually. I've been in Lakewood NJ getting the CEs off the line). If you shoot that movie's shot again, the skull will move one position to the right, indicating that you have changed that movie's qualified chapter to the next one. Each movie has 5 chapters pulled from it's pool of 25ish at the beginning of the game, and the skull indicates which one from that movie you currently have as the contender to start if you shoot Chapter Start. If you only have one movie lit, obviously the Chapter that skull is indicating is what you will start. If you have multiple movies lit, then it will be a toss up between whichever chapter the skulls are currently referencing from the different movie's.... Hope that cleared it up! But I've had a couple 9% IPAs and am typing on my phone...sooooooo.....

I'm really glad you clarified it that way, because that's exactly how I interpreted the system working but was waiting for a dev to chime in.

Eric, I'd buy you one of the IPA's if I were there and I bet many of us in this thread would too. This game is a MASTERPIECE. Thank you so much for your teams' hard work and support!

I'd like to request a JJP production-style video on how to (completely or partially) remove the POTC upper playfield properly. I learned how to do it myself, but I'm sure there are many owners that would benefit from some sort of video because the manual doesn't really cover this yet.

Oh yeah. Its cool being able to stack the chapter modes and multiballs but then have the movie wizard modes as these big individual set piece modes.

#1427 4 years ago

Finally feel like i'm understanding this game after probably putting in 100+ games and I STILL feel like I haven't seen close to everything. Mostly still focusing on stacking MB's and multipliers and bringing in as many chapters as I can with everything rolling. Add a tortuga multiball on top of it all and its crazy fun. Pretty much every shot is good to go. The bonus multiplier is sneaky good on this game. I think I saw a 300,000+ bonus on a ball today.

I think I ended up having a ~10-15min first ball using this 'strategy' and put up a decent GC for our location.

IMG_2513 (resized).JPGIMG_2513 (resized).JPG

On the downside... the cannon shot into the Dauntless is pretty much not working. I think I've made the shot into the ship 1 or 2 times in all of my games and everybody else I've talked to is convinced its just broken. Guessing its an alignment issue. But it definitely makes the Black Pearl part of the game much more tricky.

#1428 4 years ago
Quoted from Hogbog:

Push them through please … I'm waiting for my LE to be made after the CE's. Just drop an LE off on your way back. Sign the back of the backbox for me while you're there. [Just kidding] Can't wait to get it. I'm really going to have to read up on the progression paths in the game.

Wow, it sounds like you're killing it! I'd be interested in hearing more about the bonus(es), I too am experimenting with them but nothing like this.

Regarding the cannon and Dauntless, do you mean the left/right alignment of the cannon to hole in the ship? That should be easy enough to test and see with the glass off and manually testing it. You can also test the two switches in the Dauntless easily enough.

From what I read in the rules, a direct hit will sink the Dauntless but so will two indirect hits (missing the hole but hitting the ship and activating the switch by moving the ship). So if that is the case you should be ok.

Pretty please with a cherry on top any chance of seeing a couple of pics (or even one) of the ce, it's been the longest wait and it's killing me and even once their done will still have to wait for the slow boat half way around the world.

Hi,

I am on the fence of buying this machine... iepinballs stream is pretty convincing... but...I heard/read that there let's say "some" issues, so that it is recommended to do a full check of the machine when you take it out of the box.

Things like check all connectors, check the wiring under the mini pf,...

Is there a list or a document which consolidates these issues?
Would be great the get some tipps.

Many thanks

LTG are you up to the task?
I would also like to see this, as Eric said he made it very user friendly but I think more people would be less overwhelmed by it, if LTG had a little video instruction.

#1434 4 years ago

How is the Dauntless ship supposed to function? I see it can move left and right, but I’ve not seen it move or interact during gameplay. I’m wondering if mine is not functioning or maybe I just suck and can’t make the correct shots. Some insight would be helpful.

#1435 4 years ago

NM, I just answered my own question. This video shows the prototype firing the pinball from the Black Pearl cannon into the Dauntless. So cool! It also shows the three spinning disks that were removed from the production game. I’ll have to test that cannon shot in the coil tests later this evening as it doesn’t appear to be working on my game.

#1437 4 years ago

Finally solved the switch 79 stuck closed issue.

If your getting this msg check the the moving part of the dauntless ship. The top part was sagging ever so slightly creating a rub point at front right corner. I figured it out because I bricked a shot off the side of the ship and it moved and did not return to proper position.

I lifted the top a small amount to free ship and error alert went away.

At least in my case it didn’t appear to be inactivity of hitting the target because I have pretty regularly.

Already done... but whatever happens it will be enjoyable to see the factory.

I am obviously spoiled by my experiences with BMW where I would go to the factory in SC and a tech or two would be there to fix anything on your car for free during their homecoming weekends. Certainly was an amazing customer experience.

Nothing personal just as noted never heard that request before nothing more. I am sure they wouldn't mind sparing a line worker for the afternoon to watch you play and help you adjust your game... If any Pin company would it would be JJP. My guess is Jack would do it himself.

Do i detect a bit of sarcasm there? *grin* It's not going to happen, but one can always hope. That being said, hope isnt a strategy. I am worried about issues posted here of course, and fixing there would be better. The best thing about pickup is that you take the non vested shipper out of the equation.

Everything else is a bonus.

It will work perfectly in the factory problems will only show up once you have it at home and are in the middle of your best game that's usually how it goes.
