So I took the mech out and reassembled and now it seems like its intermittent. It always works in test but it's almost like retract doesn't always have enough power in game or something.
You think bending the tab is best?

If you hear it clicking in test mode but not retracting, and you can dislodge the up position relay lock with your finger, then it’s the tab.
That's the weird thing. In test mode it fires just fine.
I guess bending the tab wont hurt so I'll give it a try.

Someone got a pic of the bonus x switches. Under left side of pearl ship. Have two green/ brown and one white black.
Need to solder them back on bonus switch stack.
Received my POTC LE yesterday. Fantastic! I'm always on pins/needles until a pin is off the truck & verified intact. FedEX freight no issues & pristine. Spent several hours getting everything setup & tweaked. I will say that everything was in great shape out of the box; there were just a few small issues that I'll list in case they might be helpful for somebody else:
- The pop bumper pirate was loose & hiding on the playfield. He has a small set screw that holds him on the post of his pop bumper; the set screw can be accessed thru a small hole on the side of the figure.
- 3 out of 4 of the flippers were loose. As soon as I powered up & started playing, they all ended up at crazy angles. Super easy fix to tighten. Also, you can tighten the upper playfield flippers w/o removed anything. Each nut is accessible under either side of the ship right next to each little flipper.
- The 'L' on the gold standups had a wire running in front of it holding it closed. Somebody else had this exact problem with a picture. It threw an error right away & was easy to move the wire & add an extra wire tie to fix.
- The under playfield chapter select magnet. Wow; this one stumped me. I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting any magnet action back there at all. The post would pop up & the ball would just sit there. I assumed I was somehow playing badly but all the videos I watched made it seem like it was easy to activate. I couldn't get anything to happen using a coil test & rolling a ball around in there. So I finally called Frank at JJP & went thru it with him. Everything else on that strand was active so it wasn't a fuse or main plug issue. He went off to figure out how to test further on the POTC in their lab & I pulled up the playfield again to stare further. I took the magnet out & left it hooked to power to test it while I stared at it. OMG! When I hit the select magnet test, the orbit magnet jumped...& when I hit the orbit magnet test the chapter select magnet worked! Wires were reversed. Super easy fix. I don't know how this doesn't happen more because those wires/magnets are right next to each other.
Anyway, I'm really pleased with the machine; it's awesome! There were just a few little things that needed tweaked out of the box, but pinball! The machine is built like a brick house (like all JJP machines!) Love it!
Quoted from heni1977:Back up and running.
The cannon is a cool little mod!
Definitely spices up that little area!

Glad to hear that, I assumed you removed that smaller zip tie to create more room for the wires to move?

Looks awesome I was just going to get a picture from you but I couldn't tear my wife off the game. Good kind of problem I guess. Glad you got it fixed and your back to the battle!!
So I'm a bit confused because my topper flickers a bunch. Is it supposed to flicker or stay lit solid?
twista22 check in settings I think you can adjust that.
GrandFireball1 listen those screws on left and see if that bracket is slotted. If so move it up. I am not sure if it’s slotted.
Quoted from GrandFireball1:Anyone have an easy solution to the ball getting stuck here at the top of the right ramp?
See the screw the red arrow is pointing to ? Screw it down more and squish the rubber grommet. This lower the right corner of the ramp. The ramp should lean that direction.

Pretty sure it is supposed to flicker. Not the greatest of toppers.
Quoted from VillaThrills:Pretty sure it is supposed to flicker. Not the greatest of toppers.
Is the expected behaviour to faded in attract and just flicker in game? I think that it also flashes but that flicker is bothersome, I would prefer it to just stay on and if the brightness could be adjusted that would be alright.
For anyone interested: I had to repair the wiring as the wires broke off from being pinched when installing the topper (pinched from under the topper plastic and on top of the bracket screw). The length of the LED strip is too long so I shorten it by one section (there are cut marks to indicate). I've shared some pics of the process and indicate the - and + (please double check with a meter)

The lockdown button is definitely a problem, they need to do better here.

My hobbit button works great. I wonder if they switched brands. A button should be the last of any problems. So odd.

The button worked great for the first 100 or so games.
Can’t figure out where it’s binding, took it apart and reassembled looks fine, works initially after reassembly and then sticks.

Mine was binding internally (now resolved) and also binds on the switch arm while in game. (Still an issue)
Pics of how I fixed the button itself. (I do like the drill suggestion but hadn't thought of that [edit: I did bend the two ends of the spring slightly, the small end out, away from the plastic shaft, the large end inward]
The remaining issue is that when installed in the lockdown bar, The shaft (with screw head) pinches on the cherryswitch metal arm. There is too much of an angle between the switch arm and pushbutton shaft, which causes the shaft (when pressed down) to angle to the left, binding on the switch arm. This is easily visible, in game, by looking down on the glass between the mini display and lockbar. You will see the button slide down the switch arm and bind.
The switch is mounted to a small plate with two nuts that can be loosened to adjust the angle of the switch, adjust this hasn't help for me, the switch is still too angled. I need it to be at more of a right angle to the button shaft.

You have some great mods!
I think that this one however still needs some refining, if you don't mind me saying.
The ship is purposely angled and cut off to fit in the game. The left and rear is expected to be a continuation of the deck. I would not want a railing on the left side for that reason, it cuts across the deck.
The one additional suggestion would be to consider rounding this to follow the shape of the deck.
Of course you can just flip me the bird on these suggestions
Pin restart/reboot mid game.
I had a complete restart on Wednesday evening while playing. Not sure of the cause at this point but it was the first time this happened (I have about 60 games in)
Just sharing the details: (my time is not correct in the game, didn't see this)

Very small increments seems to be saying the mystery level increased without anything happening or before you pick a character even.. Also, if you hit the flippers the pirates in the background are cheering every time without a ball in play.
It sounds like something is stuck somewhere.
Thanks and Thoughts?

Tests - Switches - Matrixed. Bang on playfield. Adjust any that vibration triggers on the screen.

Quoted from DANGERTERROR:I’ve had two moderate fork issues keeping it from retracting, some minor ones, too:
1) The actuator, a small white cylindrical plastic piece that hits the up position switch but also keeps the fork mech on its track, fell off, so it wouldn’t depress the switch when it was in the up position. Easy fix, but the actuator screw couldn’t get a good grip in the threads of the fork mech and I had to replace the whole thing. If it happens again I’ll modify it myself.
2) The fork release coil (technically a relay) was getting jammed with the magnet too far away from the plate it attracts. This also happened with the chest lock in my game above the pf. I had to bend the tab that allows for play in the relay to reduce the gap.
Smaller problems in the proto I had before this model had me bending the up position switch a few times.
Can you click me a photo of the piece you bent?
Has anyone had trouble making the chest lock shot? My game is slightly steeper than factory pitch, but only very rarely will the ball make it into the chest lock. The flipper power is higher on both (Left-24, Right-30) but the lock is still super hard. Is there a physical adjustment to the forks that doesn’t require taking the whole thing apart?
Another issue I am having is the Bonus animations are gone. It happened in the middle of a game last night where during the bonus, the screen background was dark and it just had the text of my bonus. I tried again this morning after leaving it off, and same thing, no animations in bonus. Is this some sort of bug?

i've noticed that shot being extremely tough on the machine i've been playing (in public, not home use). definitely have to give the machine a little forward nudge to get the ball up into the lock when shooting from the right flipper.

I have the pitch set to what the factory recommends. I want to say it is about 6.5. But I have no issue hitting the chest shot regularly. Very easy and smooth shot.
I hate to ask another silly question, but has anyone else had their fountain of youth almost always flashing red and blue? I'll also have another insert shot blinking red but faintly?
Odd.

I had to increase the power to the right flipper. Ball goes up and in when it should now.

Check if the spinning disc is nicely leveled with the playfield. Any bumps will speed down the ball. Leveling mine made the shot easier to make.

Watched some streams. Other people have this too, guess its intentional, at very least it's not just my machine.

Update: simply bent the cherry switch arm up a bit and with the sanding down of the button shaft etc...(see previous post) all buttery smooth now!
IMG_20181124_1227000 (resized).jpgI'm slowly posting some of the challenges that I've had, hope they help those in need.
Out of the box I only had 4 balls of 5. A non issue for me and most but...
On to another small concern, the British ship has a metal plate that directs the ball down into the loop lane below (when you make the cannon shot).
On my pin I found that on occasion the ship would stay to the left a little and I would see switch#48 (target ship it) activated. Upon inspection I noticed that the screw post below the ship plate was a pinch point. Plate rubbing the screw head.
With the PF pulled out (forward) as far as it goes, onto the rubber feet, I removed the top of the ship (3 1/4" hex screws on back panel. Lift the PF slightly to clear the cab side and slide out the top of the ship. Move the ship towards the left of the cab and remove the screw and post. Sand or grind down the screw head and/or the plastic post and reinstall everything. Good to go!

Not likely your issue but I've noticed that the fork mech on mine is positioned too far towards the left and one tong is rubbing on the side of the PF. I can't see an easy fix for this, such as the ability to reposition the fork mech. I'm watch the thread to see if others have a similar issue. Until then I left it rub clear maybe.

OK, of the handful of little things to tinker with, I have no real concern so far. The one big annoyance is the clipping and drop outs in the audio. It is starting to drive me crazy! I believe that a few have questioned audio related issues, what is the fix here? I can upload a video if need be but it is painfully obvious and annoying.

I’ve noticed this as well, intermittent video clips during multiball. Very choppy. Partial and clipped callouts from Gibbs during gameplay and missing callouts altogether at time but this is really not a frequent occurance. Figured it was a bug.
