Quoted from Psw757:

I’m sure he isn’t happy that the fine folks of pinside are able to get the chest working for a crummy $110.
They never should have taken that out of the game...period!

I don’t think the chest was what he was referring to. Jacks said before he likes the mod community and mentioned the winged monkey mod. I guess we will see over time if the mod without the servo holds up over time or causes issues.

While working on the gameroom addition for over a month it was Awesome to unfold the Pirates and play again finally! Dam this is an amazing game just love it. The only 2 games I leveled and played for hours. Need to get back to setting up the rest but playing Pirates reminded me why all the work was worth it.

Anyone considered Maelstrom lighting?

It took quite a bit of fussing to get it even that even. I have some ideas to get it more uniform. I have it hooked up to an effects controller that fades the light in and out like "waves" but I think I am going to write a little arduino program that chases the light brightness up and down the ramp with little pulses that look like waves coming in and out using some addressable RGB leds. Then I can easily control the overall brightness and make the pulses soft and accenting instead of a major viewpoint.

(Yes, my phone camera sucks!)

Btw here are the pop bumpers with the black/clear with the game on. Makes a HUGE visual improvement, highly recommended.

"Back off, back off"
I don't see why Jack has any responsibility to mods 3rd party people are making. The licensor would be responsible, Jack isn't in the middle of this. Seems like he has an issue.

Often when you take on a license you agree to assist the licensor in defending the license if an issue arises with a third party related to your use or implementation of the license. That may be what he's talking about, but I don't have any inside knowledge of his state of mind.

Anyone put mirror blades or art blades on? Trying to decide which way to go. Pdi gold mirror blades or tilt kraken game blades.

#11207 4 years ago

I have the kraken. I don't particularly think this game lends itself to mirror blades.

This is correct. Stern will enforce copyright infringement and this is what they will tell you.

Love the mirror blade look on my game.

Yes and there are pics to be found throughout this thread. The thread search is your friend. Key words: "pinblades" and "blades".

Thank You Tuna - I’m so happy they have all arrived safe and so far the feedback has been wonderful. I’ve made some more and been charging $33.00 shipped stateside as shipping was a little more than I anticipated if others are still interested - feel free to pm me.

Nice! I did the same thing but with the "pieces of 8" look. I guess I could toss those on the site too, lots of leftover metal coins.

Added a post to the code requests. I find the launch of balls during ball saver is too slow in multiball:

Please launch balls much quicker during multiball ball save. This game launches balls so slowly. If you drain 4 balls and still have a couple of seconds of ballsave left it will only launch a single ball. Other games I own are much quicker at launching balls during multiball ball save. Please fix!

Dude... What is with those yellow flippers?!

#11218 4 years ago

They're not really yellow. They just look that way due to the iridescent glow from the nearby piles of gold coins!

#11219 4 years ago

Didn't have the heart to change them. She is sexy all natural. lol

Yes they are yellow. The first prototypes had yellow then went to black for the theme look.

#11221 4 years ago

My mistake.

#11222 4 years ago

No you were making a gold joke totally cool. I do agree the original yellow looked horrible though lol.

Harry is about to ask Yelobird how the chest opens and closes on the prototype.....

yep - there’s the answer right there

#11229 4 years ago
Quoted from gumnut01:

Ok thats TOoooo funny lol. I buy what I love and this game scratches, assembly issues, whatever is a true masterpiece of pinball period! After 20 years in pinball I have conceded that ALL pinball machines have issues but many are worth the effort and tinkering we signed on for when we picked such a unique and technical hobby. Over the hundreds of games I have owned over the years Pirates is So much the definition of perfection from legs to topper in my opinion. Like the Chicago Bulls, I think they had a rare dream team of creation on this project and I am honored to have one. Or Two as is the case.... lol

#11230 4 years ago

Wait my SE Jjp Pirates has yellow flippers on it.... is that not right?

#11231 4 years ago
Quoted from Marcdaddy:

Yes different game theme. POTC is a dark (black) Theme Wonka should be yellow.

pretty sure all the SE'd have yellow flipper / red rubber combinations. or at least the one i've been playing does.

#11233 4 years ago

I guess I've never seen an SE in person.

Nope, already confirmed We're golden.

I went to work and never came back to the basement lol. So does it work? Lol

#11237 4 years ago

Oh wait, that's right you didn't measure the voltage. Yeah, if you can just measure DC voltage at that plug just to make sure. I would bet almost 100% that it is connected to power, it would be too much change for them to not keep it the same for game versions.

Absolutely. I will check tomorrow for you!

Just a heads up. During last nights Flipnout Pinball stream of Wonka I asked Keith if theres any news about Pirates 1.x code. Keith said "Still working on it, its coming, I promise, haven't forgotten about it but there's a lot of other things going on too. Trying to get it done when I can". Good news!

Bad pirates and good pirates?

Did you consider getting a "map" decal? Interestingly, I just realized that it is not part of the decal sheet. When/if you replace your playfield there will be a glaring "worn" area on the map disc, I bet.

Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

Damn it now I can’t unsee it either. THANKS A LOT

Sry gys! .... who wants some plug and play black/clear pops? lol... lots of wires to mend.

#11247 4 years ago
Quoted from Soulrider911:

harryhoudini yes I did get a spare map decal

Did you have to specifically ask for it and pay for it?
