Quoted from TheFamilyArcade:Every time I get together with pin geeks it's always "the cab the cab the cab". That's all anyone ever talks about. Most times we don't even play pinball anymore, we just talk cabs all day, and how important they are to the playability and enjoyment of the games. And if you look at ratings - I know a lot of people don't - it's clearly the cabinet that determines a game's fun factor and desirability. Rules, Toys, layout, dots, music, art, etc. are trivial in comparison to the cabinet. Rating after rating after rating it's the cabinet that drives the persons takeaway of the game. I considered removing and tearing down all my playfields and selling everything off for parts until I realized - DOH! - that nobody is interested! The only way to make any money in this game anymore is in selling the cabinet. But those are the ONE THING in my collection that ARE NEVER LEAVING! I love my cabinet collection. All "A" cabs in my book.
I've noticed the same thing, people parting out perfectly good games to salvage a sweet cab.
I blame the friggin flippers, prior to them taking over the market, a game was judged by its gameplay.
Quoted from MrBally:Perhaps a nominal refund or "merchandise credit" good in the swag shop is appropriate for those who preordered a standard machine that will be delivered with decals..
Or at least 2 spare sets of decals for when they get all chewed up.
Quoted from Thunder424:Imagine if you had a rich uncle that just handed you a blank check and said "don't focus on the money as much... focus on what you do well and the money will come... for the both of us". That's what investors do.
That's funny.
