Quoted from drfrightner:

Let me tell you something brother talk to ANY star wars fan who also collects pinball and they will 1000% say 'wish JJP had done Star Wars'.
I own Star Wars its fine, but nothing like what JJP would have done with the World under Glass. Who wouldn't want radcal artwork, all those mechs and toys that big screen, etc. You must be kidding yourself. Again that isn' t to knock Star Wars its just calling a spade a spade. Imagine if Star Wars got the GNR treatment it would be the best selling game in modern history of Pinball.

Totally agree....I owned a SW LE for a while, and yes it was kinda fun, but in the end it wasn't a keeper

The biggest problem JJP has is price point, and lack of manufacturing. Stern just kicks their ass in manufacturing. They make more in a day than JJP makes in a week. A primary example is GNR. Who the hell wants to wait 6 months to get a game....its a death nail they need to improve on.

#105 3 years ago

Maybe that was extreme, but waiting 6+ months to get a game isn't ideal. If they really sold 3000+ GNR's thats almost 50 weeks of production time (I hear they make 60 games/week)....

Hard to really compare Stern to JJP. Stern pumps out thousands of games a year, and has great designers. My only rub on them is sometimes it takes months if not years for them to finish the code on the games. Their model is get them out in the wild and fine tune over time. JJP has great designers as well, but puts out 1 game every year (or more), and clearly put more into their games and code, but its those upgrades are reflected in JJP's pricing model.

Quoted from Shapeshifter:

Serious question.
Why do JJP games play so much slower than Stern?
Is it that they target an older demographic?
Just curious, as Stern have gone for the faster option.

WW isn't any slower than all the Sterns I own, but its standard body layout .....

Quoted from Yelobird:

Can you name a JJP game that is Code complete Or not in process for over 3 years? Unless you mean JJP as Rub then disregard.

No, but typically in my experience their code is far more developed at launch, and they do a pretty good job of working out the kinks pretty early on. You could wait years for Stern (although not always).

GFS Jumbo wings 5# $14.85
McCormicks smokehouse maple
2 small chunks of hickory
Grilled on Weber Kettle with a Vortex
Approximately 38 pieces

Far more educational than this stupid thread!

Quoted from Ricochet:

The cost of this hobby has far exceeded my disposable income capacity. When stuff started hitting 8-9k it pushed me out... heck even dropping 5-8k on a used machine is a considerable amount of money for me personally, and isn't something I can just do on a whim. I've moved on from having to own them to helping others with restoration and modification. I still get the enjoyment of the hobby but don't have to beg-borrow-and-steal to own them. If I were just getting into this hobby now... man that would be discouraging. Still love the hobby... just not even looking at what's coming anymore, I don't care who makes it.

No doubt....hopefully u kept your IJ
