Build date 1/2021 - issues

#5 1 year ago

Honestly unless I see closeup shots of every post I am not buying the no issues camp. It’s possible that these folks don’t have any chipping but I bet I could find pooling around a post or two if went over with a fine tooth comb. There is a reason JJP ships these games with 3/4 inch plastic washers in the slings...

That's what I was thinking. Is a bit subjective outside of obvious tearing.

We’ve already seen people post pics of their game saying it’s perfect. Then you look at the pics and see obvious pooling.

Build Date: 01/21
Serial no. #59
Model: CE

Yes I have problems. I have counted about 7 post so far. Some minor but a few are major.
I have about 200 plays.

#9 1 year ago

SE model
Build date Dec 2020
Games started 594
Games played 533
Balls played 1901

No issues at all. Thorough inspection performed last week when I installed the Cliffy set.

#10 1 year ago

Thanks for posting this, hope the latest build games are better.

I have some pooling and a tiny chip out of my Wonka (along with a whole host of other issues that had out of box). None with my GnR, at least as well as my middle aged eyes can see. You're down the road. Grab a 12 pack and come see for yourself.

#16 1 year ago

... and "don't even own one just here to troll" takes the early lead in the poll. Dont change pinside! I love this place

#17 1 year ago

I thought I had no issues but see some peeling on new inspect.
post at top rose lanes.
Post at left flipper lane.

CE,
serial # 22.
build ~1/21.

189 games.

I guess I will stop playing for a while until I get the washers installed...

As soon as you see a few good playfields, buy buy buy! What could go wrong?

#19 1 year ago

2/21 SE no issues although I replaced the metal washers with silicone. Except the top right post directly to the left of the top right bumper.

Anyone else had issues with this post? It’s so damn tight

Did you use Titan silicon ring ? They state it's for plastic only, so I'm curious

On another note, I believe it would be more practical to get a good idea of the scope of the problem and the impact it would have overtime is to maintain a google spreadsheet.

One could have for ex a simple spreadsheet with the following data:

- Owner alias
- Pinball identification (LE/CE number - not sure if the standard have a Serial number)
- Build date
- Number of plays
- Has defect (Yes/No answer)
- Implemented solution (mylar washers, PETG washer, carbon fiber, etc) if applicable
- Number of plays since solution implemented
- Results (ie pooling stabilized, increased, decreased)

That way we would obtain:
- a good idea of the actual percentage of affected owners
- whether the implemented solutions are effective

For maintenance purpose it could be open to write to anyone (but that's prone to error and/or malicious intent), or maintained by a few admins.

Otherwise maybe Pinside has an option to use our identifiers and maintain such a spreadsheet (preferred option)

GNR with No Chipping, Pooling, works perfect

Playfield date 1994 Data East GNR

#22 1 year ago

Nick Greenen October 20th about 500 plays. No wear at all

#23 1 year ago

LE with 5/21/2021 build date. No playfield issues. Added a full set of cliffy's and some Mylar washers for added insurance. Did have the usual other assembly problems like the right flipper coil stop not screwed in which let the coil fall from it's mount, the start switch and one led not connected, and the latch bar not locking properly. All good now.

#24 1 year ago

How'd you fix the lockbar issue? Mines pretty tight, I gotta press down and wiggle it in, and the latch barely catches

Have not looked at total plays but they’re low .I’m in a whatever happens mode .I’m laying down modcouples mylar washers and will deal with whatever comes along .This pin is too much fun to go into panic mode .That being said I feel for those with serious issues but I’d imagine you’ll be set straight eventually .Good luck to all .

This is my build date (received last week) and no issues other than it needing to self calibrate (and balls get stuck a lot). Playing as is too. I will have to check out the playfield stamp date (didn't know it had one!)

#40 1 year ago
Quoted from websherpa:

It’s usually on the edge of the playfield that’s under the back box. Difficult to get to but it’s doable if you slide the playfield out to the furthest service position.

I am suspicious but haven’t yet been able to confirm, that the clear coat might be harder on playfields stamped as of May 2021.

CE Owner, 2/21 build, 183 plays, no issues yet. Installed playfield protector day 1 and silicone washers from Pinball Life.

Seems like after March the playfields are a little more solid.

Maybe not the playfields but instead the washer changes JJP did?

stick with the owners thread - there is a lot of experience there and if you continue to stick with your posts, and reply to the questions asked on that thread you can tap into that knowledge ... my 2cents.
