I’ve heard distributors are getting the call. I ordered direct from JJP and haven’t heard anything. Anybody that ordered direct from JJP hear anything?

#972 3 years ago
Quoted from ceterumnet:

What time of day did you order? I ordered within about an hour or so of the launch...at least that's what I remember. Ill have to look at the confirmation email.

I ordered within 30 minutes of the launch direct from JJP and still haven’t had a call yet. I’m not sure when it’s time to get nervous I did get a call A day or so after lunch and they confirm my order and ran my card for the deposit. So I have an order number.

Quoted from bgwilly31:

So I got a bit impatient waiting for my CE. And I had heard Wonka CE's were coming to an end. Even though I've been reluctant and disappointed with how Wonka Turned out I decided to give it a shot. Its still got loads more in it then a stern.
Anyways, As I was scheduling pick up for Wonka My distro gave me More News last night that I was going to need a Bigger truck when I came for Wonka!
My GnR CE is ready and scheduled for pick up along side Wonka CE on Thursday.

I did the same, my GnR CE isn’t ready and got a Wonka CE, and it might be my favorite game ever. It’s so good.

Helped install my buddies CE today, wow it’s gorgeous. Mine is 2 weeks out . They’ve obviously fixed some issues, his played perfect out of the box, and the mode hole hits the left flipper nicely. An early LE that I played put it SDTM regularly.

#2030 3 years ago

Playing my buddies CE (still waiting for mine), and the screen went dark. Was getting power, just no HDMI signal. Unplugged and re-plugged the hdmi, nothing (other than showing “no signal” momentarily). Power cycle fixed it (actually when I was having my best game

Anybody see this issue, or suggestions? With the power cycle fixing it, I don’t think it’s a hardware or connection issue.
Thanks!

Quoted from Lermods:

I had an issue with the monitor going off, happened once when I first got the game setting it up out of the box and once more last week. I know you said you said it was getting power, but I replaced the barrel connector going into the monitor and haven’t had the issue. Mine did not fit well and was kind of loose. Haven’t had an issue since.

The barrel power connector is not well seated. How did you replace it and with what?

Thanks!

Quoted from zaphX:

Did you know you don't have the speakers plugged in on the topper?
Fish the two wires out from the hole. The wires go to the OPPOSITE plug, not the nearest one.

I’m glad I saw this. So plug into the opposite side that they are positioned? I suppose that’s in the instructions that I didn’t read. I wonder why they wouldn’t just plug those in at the factory. Thank you!

243 in the house. Had to adjust the leaf on the right flipper switch, was barely getting to the top two flippers.

At my buddy’s playing his CE and his skill shot isn’t working. Overshoot/backstop switch registers and plunge registers but nothing rolling over the skill shot indicators. Mine makes a noise (raising tones) once it gets into that area. What is the switch that it triggers when it gets in that area? I was looking for optos but could not find anything to even start to diagnose.

Quoted from doghouse:

Anyone else having a ball trough problem? Machine shoots balls out continuously during multiball. I left a few messages for Stephen Z. starting last Friday, with no call backs. Just filled out a support form on their website, so hopefully someone gets back with me soon.

In the trough test, is the ball jam opto green? I just had the exact issue in my Wonka and actually pulled my GnR trough opto transmitter to confirm the issue (and it worked). I had to touch up the solder (on the ball jam opto, the one at the far top side nearest the shooter lane) on the back of the trough opto transmitter board. I’m not great at soldering so it’s not perfect but JJ will send a new board.

#2520 3 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

What soldering station are you using? Maybe with the right tools you be one step closer to perfection!

I think my station is fine, and I can solder a wire to something, my issue I had here is how do i “drop” solder onto a board and make a little blob (sorry for my layman’s terminology!). Was trying to do that on the backside of that trough opto transmitter board (as JJP recommended touching up, but there really wasn’t much of any solder to touch up). Problem is the solder melted onto the tip of the iron, couldn’t get it to stick to the contacts on the board. Is there a trick?

#2525 3 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

But what model station do you have? The answer to your question involves the quality and controls of your station and the materials you're using.
It boils down to station quality and features, temperature, solder quality, flux (in the solder or external, depending). Hopefully you have at least a weller digital station. Hakko if you want to be snooty.

A couple things - first I made it to the War Games mode, have no idea how I got there, but thought my machine was busted at first, lol. Tricked me, my heart dropped for a second!

Second, I finished the Civil War song, and it killed my flippers, drained all the balls, and I went from Ball 2 to Ball 3 (I think), when I was expecting it to go to encore. At first I thought maybe I had some sort of automatic updates turned on and it gave me the bad one, but then I looked and I have 1.13 (which I thought I had updated past before, but can't remember). Would this have been by design or am I imagining things?

#2702 3 years ago
Quoted from adrock:

The non-commented ones. CE Rating was 9.5 last week and this week there are about 25% more reviews without comments and the rating is more like 9.0... so those new 25% must’ve averaged about 7... considering some are legit then I bet the bad ones are 5 or less. Come on. Clearly spam.
But yeah it’s just noise

It happens to every game that’s at number one (WW, TMNT, etc) but most don’t stay there like GnR did.

Quoted from wcbrandes:

Will Keefer let is know when you can download 1.17 safely, using your machines wifi?

it worked fine on mine yesterday, not sure if that helps. Literally took like 5 seconds and rebooted, good to go.

#2729 3 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

Or just turn off encryption on the router and test with no encryption. If it works, you're using an incompatible encryption for the dongle JJP is using. Someone replaced the dongle with one they bought and it solved the problem.

Mine worked. I guess I got lucky.

#2745 3 years ago
Quoted from Freakyguy666:Can you screenshot where it says version 1.17 on boot up? You might still see 1.16.

Quoted from Skyemont:

WiFi or usb stick?

Wifi. It wasn’t supposed to work but I just gave it a shot and it worked.

#2785 3 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

Do you have wifi security on? If so, are you using WEP, WPA (AES or TKIP), or WPA2 (AES or TKIP)? If people that have problems put up their wifi encryption and people that do not have problems do the same, it might bring to light a solution that works for everyone. I really feel like it's a wifi encryption compatibility problem.

Did the previous updates work via Wi-Fi (and is scorbit working)? If so, I’m not sure how the encryption could only affect this update but not those. I’ve got a complex ubiquity system, 2G and 5G (on same Wi-Fi name). Authentication is WPA2 (not sure on AES or TKIP, whatever the default is).

#2786 3 years ago
Quoted from Lermods:

I was able to download the code via WiFi, it just wouldn’t update correctly. Usb delta update wouldn’t work either, full install via usb worked. I opened a ticket and was told there were issues with the software, sounds like maybe it has been fixed. I had updated via WiFi previously with no issues. Hate to see people waste time looking into WiFi issues in their home when it was an issue on JJPs end. I was ready to tear into my game thinking I had WiFi and usb hardware issues and that wasn’t the case.

I think this is right as long as other Wi-Fi functions are working, can’t see how this would tie to Wi-Fi.

#2788 3 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

JJP might be changing the wifi to make it work with more situations between the versions and did the opposite? Dunno. I just know that the kind of encryption can make some things not work here on certain crappy cheap wifi dongles.
How long have you had the Ubiquiti setup? I tried it and could not deal with the quirks, especially with apple products. Went to a pair of meshed Ruckus Zoneflex R610 and never looked back. Their support/install requirements are a BS extra money grab, but the Ubiquiti support experience I had wasn't anything to write home about, either.

I’ve had it for several years now, 5 or 6 access points. Just installed a UniFi managed router (dream machine pro) and UniFi managed POE switches. I’ve loved the Wi-Fi aspect, hoping the router works out (just installed today actually). The only issue I’ve had with Wi-Fi are there are some older or dumber Wi-Fi devices (my garage door for example) that can’t connect unless I disable all but one access point. I really like the technology. I don’t have any mesh, every WAP has cat5/cat6 to the panel. Never had much luck with the mesh setup. I’m an old IT nerd, so I toy with a lot.

Just got back in town from a 2-week trip, and I know there has been a ton of conversation on updates. I have Ver 1.17. Should I try a Wi-Fi update or do a usb update to whatever the latest is (I think I saw 1.19)?

Had a couple decent games (10M+ is good for me, usually 2-3 songs), and I don’t think I recalled it as much before (but that doesn’t mean anything), but in those extended multi ball plays, my right flipper started to feel pretty limp. I guess I need the pinmonk to the rescue.

Anybody what this is? Found it laying in the cabinet. Everything seems to be working.

I’m pretty sure you are right. Barry had to confirm I had a CE before he added me to the list.

Anybody have Barry’s email address, I’d like to get on the list. Thanks!
