I don’t understand the solution to the CE soundbar issue. Are they saying you need to swap a board out?

#1402 3 years ago

sure would be nice to see the topper working as designed

#1403 3 years ago

Wah wah waaaaaahhhhhh.

Any JJP guys wanna chime in on this?
I’ve been pleasantly patient so far, and will try to continue.

I got mine working - holy shit! That’s some serious sound coming out of this thing now. I’ll post what I did when my kids go to bed.

Why don’t you use the other green jack in the middle of the backbox? You will need to split it.

To be fair, when I left JJP a message about the issue I did mention it may be as simple as that.
However that is not what the instructions tell me to do nor was there a splitter in the wire kits I received. I do appreciate the post as how to get it up and running!

Yeah I’d probably wait for word from JJP. After it exits the PC it goes through a noise filter and into the other board. I’d imagine there is a reason for the sequence.

Wow that's a game that was built on a Monday!

Really makes you wonder what exactly JJP does for Quality Control. With your machine it appears NO ONE tested the topper to see if it worked.

So far all the issues you guys have been sharing are not big issues but in the same sense that's worse as JJP is no longer a startup pinball company. They've been doing this for 10 years now and continue to make startup company mistakes.

Absolutely right, not a big issue and I know they will correct it soon.

Still having fun playing it - just kind of throwing this out there for the others who are just getting their games and wire kits.
They MAY not be able to set it up 100% straight away. I knew my first day I shouldn’t bother with my topper until my cables came in.

Perhaps none of these first 25 CE games have the jack in the instructions.

Some of my favorites about this game.
My kids love it.
My 5 year old puts the jukebox mode on and lays underneath to watch the light show!
My 7 year old wants to be a rockstar now and claims it is his favorite pinball game now.
I actually dig the soft plunge as it’s different than anything else I have.
Ripping a slash shot where the record keeps spinning is an absolutely super satisfying shot.
I have not yet seen a photo that captures how cool the sparkle in the playfield is.
The light show as we know is second to none but the programming under and behind is well used and varied.

#1412 3 years ago

Okay, so dig this.....please don’t EVER lift your playfield without those supplied protectors covering your inner side blade art! If you don’t put those guards on, I guarantee you even one lift will definitely f$&k up your inner side blades art! This game is definitely rocking ....I’m loving these super smooth shots (when I can hit them). I actually don’t have that 2nd green audio out jack installed on my board, but I couldn’t care less....I just use a 1/8” stereo headphone splitter on the regular jack that’s used and split it that way. No biggie.

Absolutely 100% agree. A minor issue that will either be rectified with another cable or small part automatically sent next day by JJP without even having to ask or by connecting to another point in the machine once directed.

#1415 3 years ago

Yeah guys really not a huge deal on the topper soundbar. Most if not all of the CE that shipped this far don’t have the second audio out Jack on the amp board.

JJP sent out a second cable package which arrived today. It contains a power cable only. You will either need to buy a 3.5mm male to dual female splitter or wait for the 3rd package from JJP to arrive as they have these splitters on order but not yet shipped.

1. Unplug male power connector from amp board per instructions
2. Plug the male connector you removed from step 1 into the new splitter cable female end. Plug the other male split end back into the amp board and route the longer male connector up through the head to the soundbar
3. Locate the 3.5mm cable currently connected to the amp board and trace it to the right side of the head where it connects to a little black box.
4. Unplug the existing cable from this black box and plug in the 3.5 mm splitter male end
5. Plug the male end of the existing 3.5mm cable into 1 of the 2 female ends of the new splitter
6. Take the 3.5 mm male/male cord JJP sent in the first package (shipped with the wrong power cord) and plug it into the other female end of the splitter and route this cable up through the head
7. Put everything back together and close the head up
8. Plug the 3.5mm male audio cord and new 4 pin male power connector into the soundbar

9. Crank it up to 11 and wear a bib to ensure the drool coming from your mouth during your first game doesn’t get on your shirt while you enjoy an audio/visual assault!

Quoted from Pinballomatic:

New factory that opened in July

Don't get me wrong I am big fan of JJP but you're going to blame things like missing cables, wrong cables then shipped out after the missing cable, apparently a jack missing on the board on the new factory? Does JJP tell the new employees or provide them a checklist that says in every CE there needs to be these items and the personal packing the CE checks them off the list to make sure they are. Also, no one is testing whether the speakers even work on the CEs?

Companies move locations all the time and you don't see this. Imagine you buy a car and there's no cables to the battery and their response is .... yeah we moved to a new factory!

Not trying to bust JJP's or your ##%$ it just appears it's a lets get these out the door ASAP and let the owners do the troubleshooting! Look at the post Vitty just made. So not only did the machine get shipped without the cables but then when JJP did ship them out he's still missing a part.

Pinballomatic only reason for me posting is in hopes JJP can get a lot of this stuff corrected as I want nothing more then them to succeed. They makes some great pins! Think about that first time buyer that doesn't know JJP or know pinball that well. They get a machine that doesn't work 100% out of the box they aren't coming back. Thanks for posting as it's great to see any representative of JJP post.

Not arguing with you, simple statement of fact. New factory, all new people. Add to that that virtually everybody not on the production line is working from home right now so a small group is in the factory building and this is a result. Nobody loves JJP more than I do and everybody knows I’ve been there forever and of course I’m biased so take anything I say with that in mind. Upper management decided to move the factory so realistically the clock was reset like in Pacific Rim.

Started the unboxing process until my wife came down with a migraine. I’m calling it “savoring” the process. Lol.

Wow i'm surprised the engineers and other support people aren't supervising CE production. I actually thought JJP tested these games before they went out. I guess I was wrong.

Understand that the CE line just began recently, and the toppers are boxed items not tested as part of the main game assembly.

I think we can put away the pitchforks on this one. JJP will make everyone whole on it.

I'm increasingly sorry I ever comment on anything. Heard of covid protocols? Of course we test the games before they go out. There's an entire section of the building devoted to final testing. I used to run the one in NJ now there is one in Elk Grove. Sheesh.

#1433 3 years ago

I hear what you're saying PtownPin but I really don't see this as a testing issue. Rather, a parts checklist issue.

Humans are fallible.

Again, glad you do post. Opinions will always vary. As someone that waited 3 years for the delivery of a JJP game they have made great strives but we also have to keep in mind that JJP is now a 10 year old company.

A lot of these issues thus far are small and could’ve been easily resolved/avoided if simple processes are/were in place.

Have a good one!

I certainly can understand the frustration when a $12,500 item arrives after months of anticipation and doesn’t fully work out of the box. At the same time, the important thing is that it is made right in the end, which, as zaphX said, is something that we know JJP will do.

As a future CE owner, I greatly appreciate JJP’s presence on these forums. Please continue to comment

What’s 15K between friends? It’ll get fixed.

#1438 3 years ago

What would be much more disappointing is if a week after this issue was discovered, JJP continues to ship sans necessary parts.

#1439 3 years ago

You have to give credit where it is due. The same day the wire issue came up a replacement one was automatically and immediately sent out to the handful of games missing the same. The next day, when it became known that a different wire was needed, that was automatically and immediately sent out. And I am sure the pattern will continue until the issue is resolved. I don't think any of those who received their games are complaining one bit. I sure am not. I was just trying to figure out if I wasn't hooking something up right or if others were in the same scenario.

Those of you who think there is something terrible happening at JJP need to chill out, in my opinion. It took Ferrari months to get out a cable to to fix the iphone connection on a $250,000 new car; they had to be hounded and there were no apologies. I have another vehicle which was recalled twice in the year in which it was built for non-trivial issues - and the parts to fix it were unavailable for almost a year. We may be buying the most perfect pinball machine out there, but there will be issues, especially in the earlier stages. That's just life. The focus should be on what JJP does for us when it learns of the imperfections - and, so far, they get an A+ from me. Thanks for listening, JJP and keep up the great work.

Do you think they test the legs and other Non produced parts with each game??? Seriously, a Very minor deal not worth over thinking. I am sure they feel bad. And as for the line, when I was there on Thursday guess who was at the Front of the assembly line with a mask on working? ERIC. Stuff happens especially when outside speaker type products are kitted with a product.

#1441 3 years ago
Quoted from Yelobird:

And they need people to drop what they are doing. Get the missing parts. Packaged. And shipped to those who need it.

Crap happens. But I'm sure they could have lived without something like this popping up.

True to form they are working to get people what they need.

What I’m simply saying is compared to more serious playfield issues or mechanical issues with games that effect play.

Not in Europe. Over here the CE is now 17,000 Euro thanks to that idiotic EU tariff. But i am glad i am not reading much more posts about the playfield chipping/pooling issue which i hope was just an the first production runs problem.

I’m aware of the added expense of buying a new pin in Europe and down under. It’s really a shame the taxes paid. The playfield issues SEEM to be resolved as of now,the very early run appears to have had slight pooling.I would buy with confidence if I had the coin too!I need to sell this Tales of the Arabian Nights!

What projects/causes/salaries do these additional taxes in Europe and Australia additional taxes go towards? Is it earmarked for specific line items?

Yeah, to quote GNR's Civil War's opening. "He wants it, he gets it" so I got it. My LE is now the price of a CE but it is coming in this february. 2800 Euro higher than before but i want it and i want it now. Covid had me save more money this this year because there was nothing open to spend it on in 2020 so i am gonna enjoy this machine very soon.
