Quoted from megalo17:

Eric Meunier, the game designer, says it will debut at Chicago Expo. It's been flippable since November. Playfield layout is pretty ironed out. No other secrets revealed. He put this out at RMPS.

Here is the interview with Eric Meunier

Quoted from TigerLaw:

Man, I don't know about that either. Vegas has WOZ slot machines on the floor of every single casino on the strip and they make a lot of money. I've never seen a slot machine for either Muppets or Toy Story on the floor of a major Vegas hotel.
I'm not saying that the casino industry necessarily got it "right" in feeling people think WOZ is cool but don't think Muppets or Toy Story is cool...but they certainly spend more money testing and developing what will draw in customers...and they think WOZ is cool and they do not think Muppets or Toy Story is cool.

Disney would not license Toy Story for a slot machine. That is why you wouldn't see it.

My favorite pins are themes I like and have humor in them. Guardians of the Galaxy will be excellent but won't be JJP.

#200 6 years ago

I do think they could do Back to the Future could have had some success if Stern hasn't tied it up. Iconic, humor, etc. Best timing for it already passed with the "future" year now being in the past and anniversary of movie celebration over with.

#201 6 years ago

Fast and Furious feels like it had its jump the shark moment when they jumped the submarine and blew it up. Maybe the series still has life left in it but I'm rather done with it... just like POTC feels like it's done with.

#203 6 years ago

I agree that F&F has more life left in it than POTC which has faded.

Like others, I buy video games and there they sit. Not enough hours in the day. I have focused my video game hours on playing games with my kids -- MineCraft, BattleFront Star Wars, and Smash Bros are the main games we play together. I'll probably get a Nintendo Switch at some point once an update Smash Bros comes out. I'll probably get an XBox One X sometime to play Star Wars BattleFront 2 in 4K and play 4K BluRay (since the idiots at Sony forced me to still play BluRay on my PS3 since they never enabled the PS4 to play any BluRay despite being the original proponents of the format). Any new pins probably result in one of the current one's getting swapped out, although a few minutes of pinball is great fun and I have time for it.

Like Depp or not, he IS the Pirates franchise. If they can't use his movie scenes, this is DOA. Now that both JJP and Stern have the full video screens, you can't fake this stuff like you used to with low quality DMDs. You need the real thing. If they can use his movie scenes but nothing else, no big deal. They need the video content. Play field and plastics -- who cares!? I don't need to see his face on the playfield or plastics or cabinet art. Ships, canons, cursed pirates, etc. will all do fine.

#516 6 years ago

Princess Bride does seem like a natural for JJP. Family Friendly. Presumably lower cost but cult classic. Not sure Stern will do it justice. They are kind of the Bud Light of pinball mfr while JJP is a craft brew. I'd prefer to see a few of these themes craft brewed. Enjoying the competition though. Hope JJP can keep it going. I'd like to see them grow to be even more of a formidable competitor.

#518 6 years ago

If they can sell a dud of a theme/name like Dialed In, they can survive POTC if the game kicks ass. However, the comparisons are going to be brutal if it doesn't up the ante on the toys and Sterns POTC was pretty good in the toy department.

I like Dirty Dancing as a movie to watch with my wife, but I think I'd vomit after hearing "(I've Had) The Time Of My Life" song and "No one puts Baby in a Corn" line a few times. May as well do "Dancing with the Stars" as a game (and please please DO NOT).

Just when I think Stern or JJP have come up a bad or so-so theme, individual Pinsiders manage to suggest themes that are even worse.

Quoted from branlon8:

I was thinking "Time of my Life" could be something like the wizard mode so you probably wouldn't hear it so often. But the film is packed with mode-worthy scenes and great potential call outs call outs. And it's really the same story as Star Wars - young innocent person, up against and contrained against the norms of society, breaks free, learns some important things from a talented master, feels it's her/his destiny, fights for it, faces a lot of opposition, stumbles once or twice, but in the end triumphs.

Except with Star Wars, there are three movies they are pulling content from. With Dirty Dancing, any video content would get so very repetitive so fast. It's a good movie, but there is only so much that actually happens in the movie and only so many snippets of video that would make sense to use.

Saw the last one. The act is admittedly a bit tired now. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it other than Captain Jack acting extra drunk and clueless which stopped being nearly as funny. I'm also not a fan of all movies going back in time and trying to recreate young or dead characters with CGI which makes them look not quite real and a little creepy (Rogue One and the latest POTC movie -- Guardians actually did a good job but I read an article that said it was 80% good makeup for the youthful Kurt Russel). The last POTC didn't tarnish the series nearly as much as the 3rd Matrix movie or the first Star Wars prequel but it is time to be done with the series unless they can really rejuvenate the creative juices.

#694 6 years ago

Excited, no. If the JJP version is 2x cooler than my Stern POTC, would I consider selling it and get the JJP? I would at least consider it. If I didn't already own Stern POTC, would I consider it? Sure, why not?, as long as it's a good fun pin. It's not a worse theme than DI in my opinion.

#695 6 years ago

The biggest problem is that they are getting Stern's discards or "B" themes rather than the "A" list. Stern is probably outbidding them or can more or less guarantee more money given they have higher volumes. People just aren't going to as excited by JJP themes overall (on the whole; exception obviously apply based on individual preferences) because of the "B" theme aspect.

#696 6 years ago

I do think they could cherry pick a couple "A" list themes because I think there are more "A" list themes than Stern can build. They may have felt they have one with POTC but unfortunately the series is tired and Depp isn't the draw that he was.

$8500, $9500, $12500

#1808 6 years ago

From their site. I see no reason not to share pricing.

#1810 6 years ago

I wouldn't have posted the game or picture but the cat is out of the bag.

#1812 6 years ago

They pulled it. It was there.

#1814 6 years ago

I have downloads and it is still on the net in non-updated buffer/history.

It was on a non-published page file directory that was publicly accessible if you typed in the right path to the files upload page but not a published web page. Next time, they should be more careful. Stern had the same problem with publishing a Star Wars manual pdf file placeholder path too early.

Quoted from sevenrites:

I thought the art on SE and LE were the same and the CE had different playfield art.

I believe you are correct.

#1883 6 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

On another note I guess this kind of confirms Toy Story will be revealed at next years expo.
Like clockwork!

I hope so. Looking forward to it; even as an adult I think they are great movies although I know many will disagree.

#1896 6 years ago

After things actually begin, I'll post the features list if someone else doesn't. Not going to before the official start though.

JJP code 20% = Stern 100%

JJP is kicking Sterns ass.

#2198 6 years ago
Quoted from tacshose:

Agreed, I am not seeing $3K difference

Me either, but Stern charged a bunch more for LE Star Wars with very little extra and everyone gobbled them up (in higher qty).

#2885 6 years ago

I don’t know JJP profit margins, but you have to keep in mind that a 10% price cut might might cut their gross margin by 1/3 (as an example). As a result, you have to sell a lot more to make up for a modest price decrease. Vice versa, a modest price increase can have a large positive impact on profitability if there isn’t much negative impact on sales volumes.
