Looking forward to the reveal. Pretty sure this will be my next pin purchase unless they introduce another price increase. If they do that my money will go to Houdini, or AFMr.
going to need to hide some cash. wife still thinks these are 5-6k toys.
(and prior to that "discussion" she thought they were 1-2k)
ps - happily married 20 years
Quoted from RandomGuyOffCL:Oh it is...the rumor is 100% fabricated!
Like we're going to believe some random guy off craigslist.
Quoted from Mfsrc791:Did you at least give it an upvote before deleteing?
I was sitting in the dentist chair when those popped out. lol luckily no one was around.
The funny thing is I started out reading the Elvira thread and I thought better of it since there are some racy pictures in there.
Well Eric Meunier, I hope you've been tanning all summer to get some nice thick leathery skin for the reveal. You know us pinsiders can be a-holes when it comes to these kind of things. Get ready for the entire spectrum of opinions. Try not to take it too personal and please don't do something STUPID like posting on facebook calling us a disease. Try to be better than that even if that is how you feel.
Good luck and we're all excited to see your first machine!
Quoted from CrazyLevi:Well, since this is a stern thread now, I'll chime in.
Jjp games are $8500, sterns are $5200.
Stern is still gonna be on top. They are still the only sane choice for operators and they are still gonna outsell jjp in home sales.
Dialed in is great and this looks good too, for a wide body. But all I see these games hurting is sterns LE sales.
Jjp is delivering for their intended customers and market, no doubt.
Pretty sure WOZ did/does well on location. This will do as well if not better. Operators would be dumb to pass on this IMO.
I loved how one character was set to "easy mode" so you can get through the chapters quicker/easier but your score takes a hit for that choice. Keith rocks!
David Thiel, any chance you can put the Disneyland pirates theme song in as an option for my wife? If the game turned on and played that I wouldn't get any grumbling from her when I tell her I'm buying this. Thanks in advance.
Quoted from RandomGuyOffCL:U best respect this!! I taught the Black Knight XXX everything he knows...
You were wrong. No respect for you.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:OK, Who brought the dog?!
A Stern reference in a JJP thread? How could you?
Quoted from Plungemaster:True. But to be fair GOT does not have great music at all.
Now you've gone too far! Game of Thrones theme song is amazing and never gets old.
Eric or Kieth, can you tell us more about multiplayer interaction? I've heard stuff like stealing gold and a ball. How will you balance this for players? Seems like stealing a ball should come with risk by increasing that players next ball multiplier. So they have a chance to put up a better score if they crush their next turn.
I feel like anytime this type of interaction is going on the game should stop and info should be clear on the screen who the player is about to plunder from. And have some cool animation of the characters involved.
Would love to hear more from you guys on this cool new feature and if/how it will be balanced for tournament play. Or will this feature have to be turned off?
Quoted from frolic:So I'm willing to bet most at Stern (Gary included) can admire a nice looking pinball, but know they'd never produce it because their business model doesn't support it.
I'm having a Darth Vader moment...
I own Sterns Lord of the Rings. I know there is still good in him. I can feel it.
I kind of feel bad for Stern right now. They are getting hammered after this reveal.
Let's not forget they have produced some amazing games for us and don't really deserve all the ridicule.
Quoted from Vdrums:I have posted this several times but I'll say it again. According to an interview I saw, woz was being sold at $6500 at introduction At A LOSS!
Sure if you calculate all of their startup expenses and operating costs they weren't making enough or producing fast enough to cover their costs initially. Plus how long did it take them to get it out the door... that calculates into those costs. But now that they are established they should be able to turn a profit at $6,500 a pop. How many full time employees did they have when they built WOZ?
Stern was running a much larger operation at the time for a lot less so I'm pretty sure JJP could as well. Houdini is selling for 7k... are they going to lose money on it?
Quoted from frolic:Smaller development team + existing contract manufacturing business. I can see how JJP cost way more money to get going.
I agree. But just because they lost money at $6,500 on their initial startup project doesn't mean they would lose money today at $6,500. I guess that's all I'm trying to say. Do I know for sure... of course not.
