Quoted from vid1900:

Maybe a film nior pin.
Hot dames, smoking, rainy nights, neon lights shining through hotel blinds....

See what you're missing?

Quoted from PinMonk:

Just do Book of Mormon:The Pinball Adventure.

Any game that uses the C word in a song would be welcome in my house. I still laugh just thinking about that show.

Quoted from konghusker:

I'm in on a star wars Le currently, but I'm really tempted to wait and see jjp4 first. Wish it was being announced sooner.

Don't sweat it. You'll get your game by August, and the JJP game won't be announced until October. By the time it ships, you might be tired of your SW, so you can sell it and buy the JJP.

Quoted from Rarehero:

The Switch is literally why I'm barely playing pinball right now

I'm playing Switch now, too...but I'm pretty sure it's a different game.

Quoted from Crispin:

I know everyone doesn't want a music themed pin but if any band should have been done already it's the Beatles. A ton of hits and images to work with. I enjoyed playing AS but walked away wishing they had made a Beatles' themed pin. For me I can't think of a band that touched more people around the world and inspired more artists. It's a damn shame that Mick on a stick exists in the pinball world and John, Paul, George and Ringo are still waiting on the sidelines.

Correct. People say Beatles music wouldn't work on a pin, but that's just not true. You don't have to have heavy metal music to work with a pinball machine. Think of all the soundtracks that play on other games that aren't heavy metal...and they work fine. Too many things to work with: Abbey Road and Penny Lane for the lanes or orbits, Maxwell's Silver Hammer in the pops, the end of Day in the Life when starting a multiball (like Showtime on TAF!), and Magical Mystery Tour wizard mode. Great theme for pinball, and I'd be in for one instantly.

Quoted from wtatumjr:

I just read Ernest Cline's "Ready Player ONE" and it's such a great read I wanted to pass it on. Try a sample on Kindle. 'Would make a great pin as well. The movie comes out March '18.

Do yourself a favor and skip Armada, his second book.

Quoted from PinMonk:

I have it sitting on my desk but can't bring myself to start it with all the bad reviews.

It starts great but gets really stupid really fast.

Quoted from iamabearsfan:

I would have to echo the above. The exception would be PoTC. I think we think meh on that (as I do), because we associate Stern's attempt at that game with that theme. I think JJP could knock that ball out of the park and redefine how that theme should be done.

Jeez...I really like Stern's POTC.

Quoted from Hogbog:

30 Days?! Man, that's coming up fast!
I've played it. It's pretty sweet.

Played it, my ass. You designed it.

Quoted from PtownPin:

I couldn't disagree with you more...I have all three...definately prefer the TH to my WOZ RR....DI LE is still being evaluated

You're not a big Lord of the Rings fan by any chance are you? Because...you know...that could seriously make you biased.

#794 6 years ago
Quoted from PtownPin:

I am, because its a great game....I take you don't like those games....every one has an opinion...I just don't agree with yours

WRONG! I loved LOTR but sold it because of the long ball times and because nobody was playing anymore (and because I was offered a nice price). Was in on a Hobbit order--twice!--because I'm a huge fan of JJP's games, but I found it to be a complete snoozer.

Love the books, the LOTR movies put me to sleep, but I like the Hobbit trilogy better. The theme is great on both games, but the gameplay is entirely different.

It's a shame you guys have personal issues when it comes to a timeless theme like WOZ. The game is gorgeous, and it's a masterpiece.

I would be happy if Depp was nowhere on the game - he's been acting like a tool lately...and I find the concept of the game being based on the rides pretty intriguing. That never even occurred to me. It's a fresh take on the game, and I already have a POTC that's based on the movies.

Quoted from LTG:

It could have a cell phone so you could text Joe at Star Amusements, after hours. The more texts, the bigger the bonus.
LTG : )

I already do that. I'm expecting him to send me a bag of dicks any day now.

Quoted from PinballSTAR:

Ok you guys are hilarious... Ya order a game and you can text and call me at 3am like Richie Wrench... I love it - I might put that on my business card so I can get abused more... Hey Richie - who gave you incredible service for like 6 months ? ME ! lol - I'll take you back anyday ! # 12 again ? : )
Anyway - PinballSTAR will be taking orders on JJP#4 next Thursday - if you want to get on our email list for info as soon as it is available please email Joe at [email protected] and you'll be the first to know...
Hey Beezleboob - how about posting of pic of you and your PinballSTAR polo you nagged me for for 2 years ! I finally come through and you never wear it ! : )
Joe Newhart
PinballSTAR Amusements
[email protected]

I do wear it. I can't wear it to work because then the kids try to call me by my first name (as opposed to trying to call me Beelzeboob when I wear my Pingraffix shirt). I'll be shilling for both of you at Texas in March...

And when you send that bag of dicks, make sure they're the cherry ones. They're my favorite. Thanks.

Quoted from rollitover:

And you get all four legs
on the LE

This is almost correct. You'll get your choice of legs.

Quoted from Vdrums:

I found the local guy with the BTTF modded out Delorean I mentioned in a previous post. After hitting 88 mph on the 59th st bridge, we have already seen the live stream reveal of JJp4. Due to a potential rift in the space/time continuem (that might cause the game to never be released or worse, Kim Jong-Un to be the next host of Apprentice) all I can reveal is that I placed my pre order (and I wasn't even #1 on the list - I think Richey Wrench was!!!). The reveal went well except slightly embarrassing for Jack was that the facial recognition ball launch mechanism didn't work on the machine as intended, and they had to wheel out a second pin to highlight the "feature".

Hi, Kaneda!

#1338 6 years ago
Quoted from jamieflowers:

Technically it was Dwights dead cat so the cat in question isn’t tied to child porn

There's totally a joke here, but in deference and respect for Pinside's mods, I'll let it go.

#2042 6 years ago

They need to get movie assets in there. The game is gorgeous - that's the one thing that's missing right now.

Great job and congrats to the whole team at JJP!!!

we need an icon for this pin now and what are we going to call by initials?

Quoted from mrclean:

All Stern needs to do is say OK now is the time.... how can we get a free CASH GRAB to try and take money away from this....
TRON VE.

I'm not really sure that will work at this point.

#2119 6 years ago

I'm actually wondering how many sales this will take away from Houdini...

#2124 6 years ago
Quoted from Pinphila:

Actually thinking how many it takes away from Dialed In.

True dat. I'm more concerned for American because they're a new company and will really feel a dip in sales. As for me, I'm just proud to know that I bought the last truly stripped down Stern machine. Gotta be some historical significance to that.

#2133 6 years ago
Quoted from Pinphila:

I agree and its certainly a valid point.
What pin was that?

Correct. I truly do love it and am totally addicted, but JJP has just forced Stern to up their game. They can't keep doing what they're doing.

#2156 6 years ago
Quoted from MK6PIN:

IDK how many people know that Eric was an unbelievably valuable piece in the WOZ puzzle to make the game solid, and what it has become today. I interacted with him ALOT in early WOZ days....great guy....very happy for him ( and me, now......)

Agreed. I talked with him on the phone a few times as we tried to work through the light board problems on my early WOZ...mine was one of the worst. He's a great guy who's super-intelligent and deserves all the success he's due.

#2160 6 years ago
Quoted from CrazyLevi:

I went to a JJP thread and a Stern thread broke out!

Is this your first time on Pinside?

#2411 6 years ago
Quoted from spfxted:

Aren't the Real prices always less than the MSRP?

Not with JJP.

#2519 6 years ago
Quoted from Plungemaster:

But to be fair GOT does not have great music at all.

There's a reason the show's music is able to tour around the country playing to sold-out arenas. It's fantastic.

#2758 6 years ago
Quoted from TKDalumni:

How many actor voices are in Stern Star Wars?

All of them.

#2766 6 years ago
Quoted from Eskaybee:

Just goes to show clips from the movie don't always make a good game

We'll agree to disagree. It's epic, and my other machines are getting lonely.

#2842 6 years ago
Quoted from Zavadoza:

Why are people getting bent about something being called limited? You can buy a “Limited edition” model vehicle and nobody gripes over production numbers. You get the Limited because it has better features, not because it’s rare.
Limited IS limited. Even if it takes 5 years to make and sell 1,500 games, they will only make 1,500 that way. It sounds silly, but you could call it a limited run of 10,000 games and maybe you never sell them all. Who cares? LE# is like a serial #.

Yes, but once the limited edition runs out, Jack will just make another limited edition for you to buy...sometimes one that's actually better than the one you forked over all that cash for. (The WOZ Frankenstein green edition is NOT what I'm talking about here, btw...)

#2846 6 years ago
Quoted from Pinballomatic:

WOZ: ECLE, standard, 75th Anniversary editions
The Hobbit: standard, limited, Smaug Gold, Black Arrow SE
New investment group came while Hobbit was going into production. So since Hobbit has wound down, we have:
Dialed In! Standard, limited, collectors editions
Pirates: standard, limited, collectors editions
Notice any new trend?

Yes. The CE of DI never sold out, and POTC hasn't been released yet.

And PS - I hope you're right.
