Quoted from Russell:

Do you watch BTTF pretty often? Sit around and reminisce about it? Sorry, but some "classics" live on, and some fade away.

Alright, I'll bite... What would you consider a modern day classic that lives on that would be a better pinball theme than BTTF? Stranger Things? Wonder Woman? 13 Reasons Why?

The problem today is that we have so many entertainment options that everything is typically gone and forgotten within a few years'. It wasn't that way in the 80's. Pretty much all the good theme choices are for things that existed in the 80's and 90's. I could see a new Nintendo (Mario or Zelda) or something like TMNT being a good choice.

Wow! This game really blew away my expectations of what a widebody POTC game could be! Gameplay looks fast and there are a ton of toys and features... I love the upper left flipper loops and those spinning disks really speed up and randomize the ball. Eric really knocked his first game out of the park and looks to have a very successful career ahead of him as a designer! The game layout and features really seem innovative and JJP is really raising the bar. THIS is what a $9.5k pin should look like!

Quoted from Whysnow:

I have about 20 games on the pre-production POTC that has been on route in Madison and all I can say is WOW!
Most important to me is layout/shots and this game is super duper fun to shoot!
Next for me is code/immersion and again this is very impressive! I have to be honest that most JJP games are not intuitive, lack enough callouts for me, and I struggle with a desire to even learn the ruleset. POTC is different. My wife I had a handful of games spotting for each other and quickly already grasp the basics of the game. The modes seem to actually feel different due to flow of shots, light show, and general 'feel' they make on each character, mode, mb, etc...
I really walked in thinking "meh" for the theme and that I was not going to like the game.
Reality was that both the wife and I are looking forward to how the game develops, playing production models once out, and possibly even adding one to the home collection.
JJP has got a solid winner after the first impression.
Anyone going to TPF should take your headphone so you can plug in and hear stuff!

Couldn't agree more! I also have 20-25 games in and really think the game is a breath of fresh air from a layout and design philosophy. I really love the layout and how the game shoots. It has long shots, short shots, tough shots, loops and flow, unique ways to save the ball, etc. The sound, display and light effects are also really impressive and the game has great interactive toys. The number of modes and characters is a bit daunting (especially if you haven't watched any of the movies) but I could see that giving it legs in a home collection as there is a ton to explore. And just think of how much all the disc modes will change strategy and how you play the game. The game really feels innovative and JJP is raising the bar in terms of how much technology and features they can cram into a game! My only complaint is the price, but honestly if there is a game that's deserving of an almost $10K price tag this is it. Really hoping to see one end up on location near me permanently as I'd love to play it a lot more especially as code and features are added!
