    Quoted from kvan99:

Good news , bad news, what ever, the only take away is that pre-order crowd can sleep easy knowing that JJP has cash to build their games, after that who knows, I mean after all how many of us can keep buying $9000 games? At least the third game will be a straight up sale, like Stern's model.

How many of us can keep buying $9000 games ? With the likely level of investment "us " ( existing pinheads/home owners ) is far from the only consideration. These guys like the product. It's a very different product to previous pinball machines. Guys like this make their money from seeing hope where others don't. They could well believe we could be heading back to Addams Family production numbers.

And they may have ideas for a simple game purpose built redemption pinball that uses the big screen.

Wages have increased by more than inflation. Pinball manufacture is labor intensive. The investors do see games selling. The recent history of who is buying games and at what price might not be a good guide. That's what they are betting on.

It can also be a boost to their reputation. IF they can get pinball machines selling in the 10,000-20,000 numbers they would get immense kudos in the business world and beyond.

Rusty , you seem to be using the past to predict the future but LEAVING OUT the addition of at least one Billionaire.

    Quoted from vid1900:

Stern has had one "made in China" game at their factory for a few years.
Obviously they moved to a bigger factory right here in the USA, so the cons must have outweighed the pros for China manufacturing.

For the rest of the world "made in USA " is a massive factor with pinball machines. You couldn't ask for anything like the same money otherwise.

They say they love pinball. If they had bought electric shavers....

Make no mistake they are getting involved because they believe in the product that Jack is making AND pinball is on the up. If anyone wants to play pinball ( the real thing not video ) on a new machine at home you have to buy one and there's going to be a big chance it is JJP.

    Quoted from PanzerFreak:

Does anyone think that JJP should also offer a game in the $5k range to compete with Stern pro games? I think they should and that they are losing out on a huge part of the market by only offering $8k+ games.
    How could they do it?
    Standard body game
Use a smaller LCD that could run off of a less powerful PC. Could something run off of a Raspberry Pie type computer?
Simpler layouts and mechanical toys at this price range but commit to code, audio, and FX development just like the higher end games. Put interesting and unique rules in the game.
Maybe no RGB lightning for the more affordable games but still LED's throughout.
Offer original themed games to eliminate licensing costs.

Does the outside world want Stern Pro games in big numbers ? Not on the evidence of the last 15+ years.

Does the outside world want full featured expensive games ? Let's see.

Losing out on a huge part of the CURRENT market may not matter going forward.

What could be worthwhile is a simple purpose built redemption game.

Most pinballs in the UK are £1 a game or £2 for three games. I think for most ( usually short ) games this is slightly too much. Some pubs charge 50p a game and get more regular players/ customers. And of course customers buy drinks. Maybe the way forward is for operators to ask for a bigger cut than 50/50 especially with JJP machines.

Anyway the good news is you can't play pinball on smartphones or computers.
